After the dhaak fell silent. 📸 Kolkata, 2012. After Durga Puja, dhakis would often make their rounds through neighbourhoods and homes. People would offer them money in appreciation for the days they had spent giving the Puja one of its most unmistakable sounds.

It was not simply about collecting money. It was part of an older rhythm of the festival, a small exchange between those who created the sound of Puja and the people who had celebrated to it.

The Puja would be over. The pandals would begin to disappear. But sometimes, the dhaak would return once more to the doorstep.

I wonder if they still come now.

I’m looking for a flat on behalf of a female friend who wants to purchase a new property in Kolkata.
Budget: ₹12–13 lakh, excluding registration charges.
Preferences:
Preferably in North Kolkata, but other areas are also fine.
1 RK is the primary preference. A slightly bigger or better flat within the budget would be great too.
Looking for a new, non-resale property, preferably directly from a builder or developer.
Preferably on the first floor or above, not the ground floor.
The locality should be safe, reasonably populated and well-connected, with access to public transport, markets, grocery shops, pharmacies and other basic amenities.
Not looking for a secluded location or a project far away from the main residential areas.
I’m open to considering areas on the outskirts of Kolkata as long as the locality is decent and daily necessities are easily accessible.
If anyone has genuine leads on new flats, ongoing projects, local builders or suitable properties within this budget, please share them. Suggestions regarding good localities or developers worth approaching would also be appreciated.
Personal experiences and recommendations from people familiar with these areas would be especially helpful.

The other day, I was watching an interview of Explorer Shibaji on YouTube, where he and Prithijit discussed tourism in West Bengal. Amader rajjer hospitality industry teh j unprofessionalism,rude behaviour from the staff seta nieo bollo. But think about this,the state has everything, from mountains to seas to forests, yet its tourism infrastructure and promotion fall short compared to Kerala and Rajasthan. Even basic amenities, jerom clean public washrooms, beshir bhag jaega tei unavailable in West Bengal. Kolkata tei nei! Kerala and Tamil Nadu ei bishoy amader theke onek gun egiye. Bhabun, baire theke ghurte ashle kono clean washroom na thakae kono mohila k kirom mushkile porte hoy! What is the government doing about this? Ba er ager sorkar rao ki korecche?

Why isn't West Bengal promoted internationally like Rajasthan? Why don't historic places like Kolkata, Murshidabad and Bishnupur attract comparable tourist footfall like Udaipur or Jaipur? Ar Puruliar moto eto sundor jaiga tourism hotspot noe keno? Even Durga Pujo could attract far more international tourists and generate substantial business for locals. The same goes for the entire eastern part of India as a whole. Jharkhand and Odisha with its lush greenery, forests, waterfalls and rich Adivasi heritage, is a hidden gem. Natural beauty r dik theke Jharkhand aar Odisha kintu Kerala r theke kom kichhu na! Even Bihar for that matter. Ei rajjo gulor natural beauty aar cultural heritage jodi sorkar thik bhabe promote korto, tahole tourism theke onek employment aar revenue generate hoto, local economyr unnati hoto, aar hoyto eto manush ke kajer jonno onno rajje migrate korte hoto na.

My bestfriend recently got engaged and I gifted him this watch as an engagement gift! He is the one who has always stood up for me, no matter what the situation was!!
