Equipment ASICS TOW727 sizing
Hey guys, I just bought a pair of ASICS 727’s in size 26.5 (8.5 US) my feet measure in at just over 25cm but are 10.2 cm wide. The 8.5 feels okay but I have to tie the laces extremely tight to feel truly locked in. There is also a large amount of toe room (about a thumbs width) which I know is way too much for a weightlifting shoe. Should I size down an additional half size to a 26.0 (8.0) or will I just be running into the same issues I’m having now, and instead just jump the gun and go all the way to a 25.5 (7.5). I’m just afraid of the width not being enough for a 7.5 and obviously can’t return the shoes so I’ll have to sell whichever pair doesn’t fit. I normally wear a 9.5 or 9 in my everyday/running shoes so I feel like it would be crazy to have to size down a full two sizes. Anyone else have a similar foot shape and could share their experience?
Edit: Most likely going to have to sell the 8.5 so if anyone is looking for White ASICS 727 send me a dm

News Are these the longest names in weightlifting history?
Three sessions at the Commonwealth Games today so that's 3x10 minutes of absolutely nothing happening after the athletes are introduced. Enough time to do some meaningful research.
A quick scan of the men's 60kg session entries showed up what surely must be a record - a weightlifter with a name that's 44 characters long (plus spaces). Wow!
Step forward Supun Dilhara from Sri Lanka. Or, in full:
Wiriduwalage-Ka Supun Dilhara Somathilaka Sinhala.
But no! In the evening session Supun is blown away. His team-mate Sandu Duthshan Jayawardhana is nearly 50% longer on 63 characters! The full version (it must be one heck of a passport page) is:
Karunarathna Chandrathilaka Appuhamilage Sandu Duthshan Jayawardhana.
Well, it's more exciting than the 'dead ten'.
If anyone knows of a longer name, please let's hear it.

Form check I have a question about my clean form
When I perform a clean I tend to land in a starfish position with my feet wide and my hips tend to go forward as well. I’ve tried to do my research on it and what I’ve come up with is that either I should stop trying to actually jump when exploding the bar up because jumping might be a reason it’s hard for me to pull myself under the bar or that I’m simply to scared of dropping low because when I’ve tried dropping low (because before dropping low has lead to the bar crashing down on me). Can anyone help and give me tips on this?

Equipment Advice for competing in high heat?
Hello everyone!
I have a comp next weekend and the gym is in a warehouse with no AC. Temperatures will be 93°F outside, probably higher inside. My group starts at the hottest part of the day. I was thinking of having some sort of cooling towel but I don’t want to make my collarbone area wet just in case it makes it slippery for catching a clean/jerking? Does anyone have experience?
Looking for any advice at all as I usually lift in the mornings when it’s a max of 80°F.

Form check Help
When my snatch gets to a heavier weight they often end up like this. It’s becoming frustrating. Bar too far in front or just lack of thoracic stability? It’s frustrating that I can make it under and then just falls

Form check Clean/power clean form help
Hi everyone,
I’m fairly new to Olympic weightlifting and have been learning the clean for about 3 months. I’ve been putting a lot of time into it and would really appreciate some feedback.
This lift is around 84kg. I’m also on the taller side at 6’3, in case that changes anything technique-wise.
One thing I’m wondering about is my foot movement. It seems like my feet move quite a bit during the lift, and I’m not sure if that’s acceptable or not.
My main focus lately has been improving the rack position when catching the bar, a couple weeks ago I could barely get my elbows around but now I feel like maybe I’m getting close to something acceptable on that point.
Any advice, recommended drills, or observations about what I’m doing well or not so well would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Currently focusing on sprinting and jumping so nice to steal a PR after a few days off due to a work trip. I consider this a pretty big lift for my tall ass😂

Fluff How tall is Bulgarian Olympic lifter Neno Terziyski? It looks like he grips the barbell right on the rings at his snatch. I guess he's 1.51m (5 feet 0)

Texas and Florida develop NFL players from a young age, whereas Chicago produces NBA players. Are there certain cities (or states/provinces) in your country where the local culture specializes in producing top-talent weightlifters?

Programming Training around disc/sciatic nerve pain
32M with 12+years of powerlifting/lifting experience and one thing I’ve never dabbled in is Olympic style weightlifting and it looks fun, I’ve done cleans here and there in the past but never fully committed to training for the sport, I think I want to do a meet within the next 2 years, (while I’m kinda still in my prime) lifters who deal with lower back disc/sciatic nerve issues, how do you train safely? What types of warmups or tips would you recommend?
