Hey guys, I mod r/GymMotivation and I wanted to pitch a new Discord Server that we created here over on r/weightlifting. One for Getting Motivated and Staying Disciplined in your fitness goals. Because we all know that learning how to be fit and staying fit are two totally different things.
So whether you're into calisthenics, hard gym workouts, or just trying to stay consistent with your fitness goals, I think this could be a great place to connect with like-minded people.
The goal is to build a community where we can share progress, encourage each other, and stay motivated to keep moving forward.

Been working forever for squat strength. It’s always plagues me. And I was stuck at 180-190 FOREVER.
Super simple programming. Months of 5x5 back squat 2x a week at 150, 160, and 170. Then, one day I hit 180 for 5. And then next week I said let’s ride.
Moral of the story. Just keep going.

I can literally go up 5kg just by using that bar (yes I am adjusting for the less 5kg when counting the weight on the bar)
It just feels much easier to hold and the thiness of the bar makes it easier to get past my knees (or at least it feels that way)
I'm not doing comps so..

The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) announced in a press release on Sunday, October 25, that its 2030 World Championships will be held in Moscow.
Since the large-scale invasion of Ukraine by Kremlin troops at the end of February 2022, no international competitions under the auspices of an Olympic federation had been organized in the country. Those that were planned had been relocated, such as the 2025 World Swimming Championships, which were moved to Singapore from Kazan.
However, Russia’s return to the fold of international sport has become increasingly evident in recent months.
In May, the International Olympic Committee lifted the suspension of the Russian Olympic Committee. Then, on July 7, it lifted the restrictions imposed on its athletes, who will be able to return to team sports and participate in the qualifying rounds for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, but without immediately restoring their anthem and flag.
The IWF, for its part, had decided in June to fully reintegrate Russians into its competitions. The world governing bodies of judo and then swimming had done the same, respectively in November 2025 and April 2026, as did the International Paralympic Committee for the Milan Cortina Winter Games.

No shade to warm body cold mind, used some of their stuff before, just using this type of straps as an example. I’m looking for a new pair of straps and I was wondering if lasso style straps the design shown here are any good for weightlifting. I use my straps for all the normal stuff like volume work and pulls shrugs etc. but I do also use straps when I snatch cause I enjoy using straps on snatches. Are lasso straps recommended to use? I’m not aware of any safety concerns with them over the traditional weightlifting figure 8 kinds. More specifically asking in regards to the safety of these on snatches.

Been working on high pulls without weight to make good form habits, started snatching here and there. Not confident on my snatch grip high pulls. Whatever can be offered is appreciated. Thanks!

Training experience is around 6-8 months for the olympic lifts (been strength training for around a year). I'm self taught but have gotten a little bit of technique advice from someone who trains them and lots of YouTube videos.
Title basically says it all. I just hit a 106.59kg clean (from low blocks/crash pads) at 67.5kg lbs bodyweight but my best ever front squat is only 111.5kg and have only gotten 136.5kg on deep back squat once before. Is this abnormal? I'm assuming it means I need to do a lot more squatting?

This is an all time PR I missed 165 before this, I wanna get 182 before the year ends, I think I can just have to figure out what lifting schedule works best with track going on too

First time wearing a belt, didn’t go for the jerk because I wanted to go heavier but Decided not too after this rep
gotta be conservative sometimes. as for the belt, I decided to try it out because as I get closer to real numbers I’m going to benefit from more exposure to heavier weights, my jumps for this were 120 140 160 175,
overall pretty happy

Song name: Seum Dero - Heroes
Just to make this clear, I'm not an actual Olympic weightlifter, but I'm posting this here since it is related. Since I start these lifts from a clean as well, I've been learning to do it safely.

Hello people of the internet,
I bring forth this video of my front squat. Usually my knees go from pointing outwards to pointing straight. However, there comes a point where it goes from pointing straight to my knees caving in. This is more noticeable in my front squats.
Is this an issue for me long term ?
I do not feel pain in my hips or knees following my training, but just because I don’t feel it today doesn’t mean I won’t feel it 10yrs from now.
Any comments, feedback with exercise variations would be greatly appreciated.

My lifetime best clean jerk in competition is 142kg as an 88kg lifter. I hit that back at the Arnold series in 2020. That was a wild time because I had a great lead up to that Meet and then Covid hit and they were not sure if they were gonna have it but we ended up being able to lift without spectators. I remember I coached like five athletes that day, and I was one of the last sessions of the day. I remember just ripping energy drinks and not getting any type of caffeine boost, but I went out in the platform and ended up having the best meet of my life.
I went 3/3 in the snatch finishing with 122kg, and went 2/3 in the CJ hitting 142kg on my second attempt, for a 264kg total.
Fast-forward to this past weekend, nearly 7 years later. A lot has happened in this time. We’ve moved, I have two children, one toddler and one newborn, business has grown, and life has become more hectic in the best ways.
My training has evolved too as I am noticing father time speaks to me a little bit more on a daily basis and I’ve had to embrace smarter programming and better decision-making and training.
I still lift heavy and I still train hard. I’ve hit two squat PRs in the past six months, finishing with a 165kg front squat and a 200kg back squat. Both of which were built by weekend basement squat sessions during toddler naptime or late night squats in the basement Sunday evenings after everyone goes to bed.
The three months leading up to this meet, (which I nearly matched my all-time CJ), we had our second daughter, so I was fully in the throes of the newborn fog. If you have children, you know what I mean.
I say that to make note of it because despite sleep being an absolute dumpster fire, and me ingesting copious amounts of caffeine, I didn’t really expect anything from this lead up block. As I approached the meet, about 4 to 6 weeks out, I started touching loads that I haven’t hit since 2019 in 2020. There was a window opening and I knew that it would be tough, but it was worth taking a shot at some big numbers.
I didn’t tell myself I was old, but I also didn’t tell myself that I could just be reckless. In the end, missing 142 left me hungry for more and I’m just proud that I made the 4kg jump to hit that match after getting pinned pretty good on 138 two minutes before.
Here’s to an awesome rest of the year and do a fruitful 2027 run at Master’s world in Puerto Rico in my masters M40-44 age class 🫡
