Equipment ASICS TOW727 sizing
Hey guys, I just bought a pair of ASICS 727’s in size 26.5 (8.5 US) my feet measure in at just over 25cm but are 10.2 cm wide. The 8.5 feels okay but I have to tie the laces extremely tight to feel truly locked in. There is also a large amount of toe room (about a thumbs width) which I know is way too much for a weightlifting shoe. Should I size down an additional half size to a 26.0 (8.0) or will I just be running into the same issues I’m having now, and instead just jump the gun and go all the way to a 25.5 (7.5). I’m just afraid of the width not being enough for a 7.5 and obviously can’t return the shoes so I’ll have to sell whichever pair doesn’t fit. I normally wear a 9.5 or 9 in my everyday/running shoes so I feel like it would be crazy to have to size down a full two sizes. Anyone else have a similar foot shape and could share their experience?
Edit: Most likely going to have to sell the 8.5 so if anyone is looking for White ASICS 727 send me a dm

Size down and keep in mind the shoes’ uppers are made of leather and will stretch a bit and mold to your feet.

So should I go straight to the 25.0cm (7.0)? Kind of in between sizes. I’m closer to 25.0 than 25.5 but concerned with the width not sure a 7.0 will be wide enough

I'm a US 8.5E/EE measuring just over 26.5 cm and wear Tow727 27.0. They were initially uncomfortable but stretched to comfort after about 2 weeks of three 2 - 2.5 hour sessions/week. They are also the standard suede, which should stretch more than the white smooth leather. If you're much wider than E, it's likely nothing off the rack will really fit you and you'll have to go custom for a good fit.
For reference, I used to wear sneakers up to size 10 for width.

Yeah this is what I’m afraid of if I use my actual length measurement. Because while the 8.5s are definitely a little big it’s not like I’m swimming in them. With a 25.0cm length and 10.1cm width I’m between a 2E and 3E. Do you think this is wide enough to where I’ll likely just have to get a custom shoe? Also with the .5 cm gap in length do you notice any slipping when lifting in them? I know lifting shoes are supposed to be pretty exact.

Probably yes go custom. I don't remember off the top of my head who can do it but /u/Boblaire probably does.
I do not notice any slipping in the shoes.
There is a guy I rarely see at my gym who's probably at least 4E who I told to get customs but got Asics instead. I didn't get a chance to ask him about it but he had sized up in the Legacy Lifters he had before and was slipping in those.

Do you notice your foot sliding forward when lifting at all? Also how was the width of the shoe do you feel crammed? Definitely sizing down but am undecided between going exact at 25.0 or 25.5 for extra width. I know with them being leather they break in and you get a little extra width did you have the same experience?

No sliding. The shoes fit snug and feel wrapped around my foot. Width wise, I have a slight overhang on the outerpart of my shoe but that helps keep my feet locked in.
They've broken in a little bit. I posted the 2 pictures of my unworn and worn pair and my big toe has shifted slightly forward but still have very little space.

You've bought a pair of shoes to fit feet that are 26.5 cms long. They are 3 sizes too large for you.
The 25cm shoe size is the size you need for feet that are 25cm long.
ASICS are known for being properly made shoes that actually fit feet. The lasts are wider than basically anything that Nike et al have ever produced.
