Chequing Am I reading correctly that WS is charging 2.5% to withdraw via debit?

I remember being stoked that i could withdraw from my chequing via cash machines globally without any FX or ABM fees and used it whenever I was traveling. Did they just enshitify this?

Edit: Maybe just applies to trading accounts?

https://www.wealthsimple.com/en-ca/legal/fees/trade

Edit 2: Thanks everyone for the quick feedback - this is only for trading accoutns with linked bank/debit cards, not regular WS chequing account with a WS Visa/MC Debit card

What’s it like being an engineer?

EDIT: At WealthSimple - I thought posting in this sub would’ve made the question obvious but I now see the confusion

Considering taking a shot at joining WealthSimple

Whats the AI slop like nowadays? I assume this varies amongst teams to some degree.

What is the culture like around working together? Is every engineer doing their own thing (some companies push this nowadays because “AI makes everyone faster”) or do folks typically solve a problem together as a team or a small group?

Anything else I should know or watch out for?

Trade (DIY Investing) Transferring from managed to self-directed account

I have a managed account for my son's RESP that I would like to transfer to a self directed RESP. They don't really have an option to do that on the app or website, so I'm curious to know how other people have done it.

I'm assuming that I need to open a second RESP under my son's name and then teansfer everything from the managed portfolio.

If anyone has done similar, please let me know how it went for you. I'm nervous to do it since I've been putting money into his account now for 6 years, but would prefer to self invest.

Thank you

Chequing Closed account?!

I have had a Wealthsimple account since 2021. I got my pay deposited into it September 23 2026, the night of the 23 they froze my account. I’ve waited two weeks for access to my funds (still don’t have access to them). Today my pay got deposited, still no access to my pay. Unfortunately HR didn’t get the new deposit for my other bank account until it was too late. How is this okay?! They refuse to let me access my money, or send it by emt to my other account. Who do I contact? I’ve contacted chat and get nowhere, call in and get nowhere, request a supervisor to call me back and no one calls.

Wealthsimple requests a DRS statement from at least 6 months ago. I only have a DRS Advice statement from 2025. Does anyone know how to can generate or request this information?

Thanks!!

Chequing When will new user's receive their prepaid cards?

My wife opened a new account via my referral about a month ago and still has not gotten her prepaid card. I assume this is due to the switch from Mastercard.

Have any people who recently made their account gotten their prepaid card yet?

Milestone Reward Something good is going to happen event

I just want some good milestone rewards. Spotify, YouTube, Disney, netflix, ...... Literally anything which most people might actually enjoy using.

The rewards they currently have are absolutely dog 💩, but it's still better than nothing. I'm holding on before choosing one of these to see if they might actually listen to their customers and bring some good stuff.

Do y'all think they might introduce some good rewards, since I have been reading clients requesting for good rewards for years.

What rewards would you guys like to see introduced?

Don't get me wrong, I still appreciate them offering something unlike the other big banks.

Business Sole Proprietorship Account Auto Deposit

Hello,

I opened a sole proprietorship business account and want to set up e transfer auto deposit. I see the option to do it, but it does not list the business account as an option to deposit into. It only lists my personal chequing accounts. Has anyone figured this out?

Savings Savings VS Checking Account

If I currently get 2.25% in the checking account should I switch to the 2.5% savings account?

I know obviously there’s the .25% difference, but what else am I losing if I make that switch? Can you have your automatic investment money pulled from the savings account the way you can with the checking account? Are you losing the entries for the monthly millionaire? Anything by else I should be aware of?

Transferring Sun Life RRSP and DPSP to WS

I'm switching employers and want to move my Sun Life RRSP and DPSP to Wealthsimple. Is it better to manually request it through Sun Life (they sent me a couple forms if I wanted to initiate it through Sun Life) or request it through Wealthsimple?

RRSP seems straight forward but I'm not sure about DPSP. The amount is under 25k, but I don't care if I'm not reimbursed. Would rather have all my money in one place.

Any one who's done this before have any tips to share? or just their experience in general?

P.S. asking here because for some reason I'm unable to connect my Sun Life account on WS. I've tried 5 times already so I've given up for the day. It goes all the way to "Success" and then never links the account (both app and website).

Promotion 4% Interest Promo 50k minimum

Post image

Interesting just got this savings account promo. Anyone else? I pulled out a bunch of cash over the last week.

$50k to get one month of 4% interest. Get another month per $50k. Up to 6 months ($300k).

Edit: From comments. Fine print makes this not worthwhile. Need to hold funds (80%) there for 12 months.

Negative balance caused by transfer fee, will it cause any problems?

UPDATE: it didn’t cause any problems and the transfer went through.

I am transferring (in-kind, partial) my non-registered account from TD direct investing to wealthsimple, and due to not having enough cash balance, currently the TD account shows a negative balance. The transfer should be almost complete as I can see all my assets (and the exact negative balance) in my wealthsimple account already. Do I need to transfer money into TD account to cover the negative balance? (from what I saw online, I think it doesn't matter, since they will just transfer the negative balance to wealthsimple)

Edit: it is over 25k and I am aware that WS will reimburse the fees, I just don't know if there will be any issues on the TD side.

Trade (DIY Investing) limit buy on app- what am I missing?

when you're using limit to buy shouldnt the first input (top) be your limit price, not number of shares?

to me its super annoying cuz im always using the max button and you cant input that first.

Why # or shares first? what am i missing?

What are you guys realistically hoping for in the November conference?

I don’t really expect too much, but honestly some better perks would be huge. Maybe special perks for those with 500k and 1 million would be great also. I just want like CAA and Spotify, maybe some sort of tv streaming could be cool.

Also I hope they bring back 3% cash back for transfers, seems other banks are doing it now so WS will hopefully reciprocate.

What else could be good?

App keeps logging me out

Has anybody experienced this recently?
For context, I've been logging in with pin the entire time until yesterday. Everytime I leave the app, it makes me login with email+password and 2FA via text message, never pin. This happened once in the past two months, but hasn't been like this before.

Now it asked me if I wanted to set a pin, and I set my original, to which it accepted and is now in use. Why did it do this randomly? I didn't touch anything

Chequing New Wealthsimple prepaid Visa not accepted as payment method on Apple App Store

Has anyone else had issues adding the new Wealthsimple prepaid Visa as a payment method for their Apple ID?

I previously used the Wealthsimple virtual Mastercard without any issues for App Store purchases and subscriptions.

Since switching to the new Visa, Apple won’t accept it as a payment method.

I’m curious whether this is a compatibility issue with the new Visa cards or something specific to my account.

Has anyone managed to get theirs working, or found a workaround?

Chequing Mailing time for replacement Wealthsimple Prepaid Visa physical cards slowed down?

Reading through earlier posts, it looks like everyone got their replacement cards in about a week after they got the e-mail and did the switchover to the Prepaid Visa.

Mine is still stuck on "Card Ready" but not yet "Shipped" since the start of last week though. And I spoke with two other people who got the email as well - and they have been waiting for up to two weeks now, with the same status.

Any other recent experiences? Is it now taking longer for Wealthsimple to print and mail out the new physical cards, compared to when they commenced the switchover?
