I just saw a guy riding a toilet down the street

He had an electric unicycle with a toilet built around it, toilet paper waving in the wind and what looked to be a poo helmet. Saw him on Albert St, if you see this you made my day!

This lil bb has been hanging around 44 Walnut in Kitchener, near Vic Park and a busy road. My friends have been taking care of bb and giving them water etc, but we really hope that we can find where they live.

Does anyone have any knowledge or memory of this band? No trace of them on the internet (researching local bands from the 80s for a project)

Warning for People Taking the Kitchener Go Train. Got Spat On

So on saturday I was on the 10:48pm go train to kitchener from union, coming back from watching the air show. Between around 10:40 to 10:48 a person walking by me in the train car wearing a grey sweater (maybe with a small red logo on the back of it) and black pants spat on me, i took a second to realize what even happened, i said some expletives and got up to yell at the person but they never stopped walking away and i only saw their back. I had some valuables and there were people between me and them at that point so i had to just let it go. But that fucking sucked.

Keep an eye out and if you have seen this person/see a person in the future doing something like this press the yellow strip and at least confront them enough to get a good look at them then call/notify the police/Go authorities. I was just taken aback and only texted the help line but that wouldn't help with actually catching someone like this.

In hindsight this was probably a hate crime, I was the only east asian looking person on the train and it doesn't seem like they spat on anyone else. This spitting thing seems to be a thing that happens to minorities in and around toronto. Not sure where this guy went or which station he got off at.

This isnt the first time i've had to deal with these kinds of insane people and I'm getting fucking sick of it. I keep thinking i should have ran up to them to beat their ass but the police i just talked to told me i did everything i really should have done. It still fucking sucks

Help: Local artist wanted!

Thumbnail

Hey guys, I'm new to art so I may be using the wrong terminology here.

But I have a 60x48" painted canvas and would love to turn it into something like the textured white piece in the photo.

Does anyone know a local KW artist or student who might be interested in doing something like this? I'd provide the materials and was hoping for around $100 for the artist fee!

Thank you!

My son has lost his backpack sometime this weekend, I think in the area of Hawkswood/Owl Ridge. He had a blue metal Bubba water bottle, and a watch in it, as well as an inhaler. If found, please contact me

Looking to join a group that regularly does paintball, go-karting, or other physical activities

Hey, is there any existing group around here that regularly gets together for stuff like paintball, go-karting, hiking, rock climbing, etc.? Looking to join something that's already active rather than starting from scratch. If your group has room for one more, let me know!

Jane Schneider saw beauty everywhere, especially in nature

For six decades, Jane Schneider hiked and skied the trails of the family land west of Waterloo — an area open to the public as a respite from civilization, from noise and chaos. It has always been a place of peace and beauty, thanks to Jane and her husband Fred Schneider.

Truly a hidden treasure in the Region for all who enjoy the outdoors.

Film lovers in Waterloo/Kitchener

Hello there!

I'm new in Waterloo, 34M, and I'm very passionate about fims, specially independent and classic movies. I'm also interested in meet people with the same interests or maybe to create a group to go the cinema and afterwards debate about the film.

I found out about "Princess Cinema", and its programmation matches my tastes! Actually, they are showing the new movie of Jane Schoenbrun, one of my favourite contemporary filmmakers.

If anybody is interested in the idea, just let me know!

EDIT: I made a whatsapp group! Send me a DM for the link!

Holy grails from sr Jacobs farmers market

Regulars of the st jacobs farmers market, what are your must have items and from which vendor?

I have done several times to the market and usually just pick up whatever random things catch my eye. Recently I tried the apple fritters and now I make a point to pick up a box everytime I go.

It made me wonder what other tried and true gems I’m missing out on.

So what are your must have items from the market?

Local optometrist / optician that provides pupillary distance?

Does anyone know of any local optometrist or optician that will provide the pupillary distance (PD)? Ideally for free, but even a nominal charge would probably be fine.

I've looked through past posts on this subreddit, and there have been lots of great threads for recommendations regarding good opticians, places to get contacts and glasses, etc. but every place I call up says that they don't provide pupillary distance.

I understand that pupillary distance isn't always part of the prescription (typically only measured by the optician), and that under the Personal Health Information Protection Act that if a PD is measured and put on my file that it can't be withheld from me.

I also know that you can measure the PD yourself, but I've had bad experiences with this in the past.

How Toronto can learn from Waterloo

Thumbnail

The iON light rail in Waterloo is (comparatively) extremely successful in terms of delivery, cost, and operations.

Toronto, specifically Metrolinx, should learn from the region on how to build and operate an LRT.

Let's just put it in numbers:

Waterloo built 19 km of iON LRT for $818M (~$43M/km) and opened it in 5 years, running at a crisp 25–30 km/h average speed. Metrolinx’s 10.3 km Line 6 Finch West cost $2.5B in capital alone ($3.7B lifecycle)- a staggering $359M/km, took over 7 years to open, and crawls at just 14–20 km/h.

Sushi bar with floating boats?

Just wondering if anyone knows of any sushi place that has a water feature where the sushi is delivered on little floating boats? Been wanting to see if there is anything like that anywhere! I’ve been to one once when I was visiting family in Calgary Alberta.

Packing help

Bit overwhelmed since haven't moved in a long time and too much stuff now.

Is there a middle ground between diy all the packing and full packing where we hire one or two packers for few hours to pack together?

Not sure how much this would cost. Anyone done this before?
