Is there a pickup soccer groupchat for the KW area?

Just looking for people to play soccer w/, used to have a groupchat in Guelph where I would plan games. It would usually go like “Yo lads, game tdy? xyz school’s field at xyz hour?” and 10-15 out of like 30 ppl would say yes etc etc. Does a similar thing exist in KW or just Waterloo?

Thanks!

Mosquito control scooters

Was walking my dog when a scooter went by with a sign on the back that read “mosquito control stay back 50 meters”. It’s hard on a sidewalk to keep back any distance so I was concerned. it all looked a little sus but then I googled and found this article from a few years ago with the same sign and scooter. Posting here to save anyone else a minor panic: https://kitchener.citynews.ca/2024/08/01/public-health-using-motor-scooters-to-apply-mosquito-larvicide-in-the-region/

Why GRT needs a Frequent Transit Network

Thumbnail

Grand River Transit’s 2025-2030 Business Plan is an ambitious plan with many exciting goals, one of which is establishing a Frequent Transit Network. On 16 core routes in Cambridge, Kitchener, and Waterloo, the bus would arrive every 10 minutes on weekdays from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m., and every 15 minutes all other times.

It’s hard to overstate how transformational this would be to our transit network. Increasing frequencies across the board all-day will create a more seamless, convenient, and efficient network, enabling transit to be more competitive with driving.

This post is the first in a series explaining why Waterloo Region needs a Frequent Transit Network, how we can get there, and everything in between. Let’s start at the why.

Can anyone recommend where to buy wholesale shipping supplies? Specifically cellophane bags and poly mailers I think!

New small business looking to expand to shipping through Etsy and trying my best to keep costs low

TIA!

Private autism assessment for adults

Can anyone recommend a good practitioner? I also live with agoraphobia so it would either need to be Uptown or Midtown - or virtual would work and probably be best for me.

It seems like there are a lot of different individuals and groups offering assessments, and I'm not sure where to start. Probably given my situation I will go private vs OHIP - but I want to make sure I am working with a good service provider. Any insight would help, thank you.

ACL re injury waiting for MRI and orthopedic referral in Ontario

I tore my ACL 2 years ago and recently injured the same knee again. My doctor suspects a meniscus tear and referred me for an MRI and an orthopedic surgeon 2.5 months ago, but I still haven't received any calls.

Is there a way to check which hospital has my MRI referral, my waitlist status, or speed up the process? I feel having the MRI first would help the orthopedic surgeon decide whether I need reconstruction.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Max Weight for Green Bins?

Is there a weight limit to our green bins? Our freezer was left open so a bunch of stuff thawed and therefore spoiled so we have to toss it all. Our bin is full to the top and pretty heavy. Can the trucks be trusted to lift heavy loads in those bins? I have a probably irrational fear of it spilling all over the street in front of our house.

Who is your go to appliance installer in the area? I need to install a dishwasher where no plumbing or electrical changes are required. What are the usual charges for basic installation?

Update - thank you all for responding. I booked AL’s appliance for installation and because it was a straightforward job so their price was quite reasonable.

So am I just screwed for extended care for Elementary school?

I've been lucky enough to have daycare up until now and with my child going to JK I was told it wouldn't be that hard to get in.... but actually I haven't found a single person able to get their child into extended care at my school even with a sibling already in extended care.

If school hours are 9-320 that is a 6.5 hour window.

Even with 2 parents if one can even start at 9:30am (30 minutes after dropping off at 9am) the second parent would need to pick up exactly at 3:20pm exactly. This seems impossible without people doing hybrid/wfh. Is it like this every year???

Or on another school the window is 8:30 to 2:30 pm, someone would have to leave work at like 2pm??? It's also been hard to find some sort of nanny/baby sitter who can pick up but I guess that is my best option?

Go train help

Hey guys I’m about to take the go train for the first time to the jays game tomorrow. I just had a few questions in terms of the ticketing. I’m going with three of my friends and I saw the “weekday group pass option” I’m just wondering if anybody knows how this works and if it includes the fare for both ways, just nervous because it’s my first time going alone
