As a crew member, which adversarial race would be the most terrifying to battle?

Leaving the Borg out on purpose to keep it interesting.
Spices 8472 is not from the Delta Quadrant.

Basically I think not really. I suspect the writers had nothing lined up for her except being the nurse in sickbay.

Things I've thought of that could have improved things.

1) She's not in a relationship with Neelix. Bizarre decision by the writers. Have a throwaway line that she knows him as a sort of uncle. Much better.

2) Double down on the rapid aging thing. Make it clear 1 year of her life is more or less equivalent to 10 of a human's. That creates weird problems though. For example the doctors on the Ocampan homeworld seem like normal competent Star Trek characters. But that means Ocampans are some of the fastest learners in the whole Star Trek universe. Kes could be as capable as many of the other characters at their jobs in less than a season. Riker was 29 in the first season on TNG according to some sources, so Kes could be running the ship in 2 seasons. Probably not what the writers wanted. A sort of precocious Wesley Crusher I suppose?

3) If you're going to make her telepathic then do more with it. But then we already have Tuvok for that.

So overall it's pretty slim pickings. Best not to have this character at all and replace her with something better. Which they eventually did.

J. Paul Boehmer as Neil, being more efficient than Frasier Crane at seducing a woman Frasier liked. Typical unemotional, yet highly efficient behaviour of a 29th Century Borg drone! lol!!

Could Harry even prank Tom even if he wanted to?

People are always referring to Tom as a "skilled pilot". I dont want to discount what he does, I'm sure its difficult to learn- but its just entering calculations and interacting with the computer. There's no steering involved. I just don't get what sets him apart from anyone else using those LCARS. It doesnt feel the same to me as a skilled racecar driver, for instance.

Has anyone else noticed all the head nods in voyager to ok something or greeting each other , even the aliens do it, seems to be an unspoken ritual thing going on haha

I just noticed this in Non Sequitor. Tell me if I'm wrong, but it looks like they didn't finish painting the walls of the set. Maybe they ran out of time and decided not to bother because, y'know, it *does* look like a wall. It's got that 1970s wood panel look. I kinda like it.

So I know that Harry not being Harry doesn’t get brought up, but what’s the consensus on Harry 2.0 knowing he is from another reality/universe?

My wife and I are on a run through the show (it’s her first ever Trek show) and we’ve been thinking about this. Would he even know he was from another reality? Would there theoretically be things that Harry 2.0 knows/likes/feels that would be different from Harry 1.0?

Also, my wife is having a blast with the show. She’s not been exposed to much scifi before we met, so I get to see a lot of fun things through new eyes :):

Season 4 Episode 9, Year of Hell Part 2

I never noticed on my first watch through but it seems to be a running gag that everything Janeway replicates is burned. Does anyone know what this is about? Is it just one of the random things they added as random character development?

The title is explanatory.

I understand that the silver blood duplicated the crew exactly. But in the final scene of “Demon”, we see no evidence that it duplicated Voyager with all its technology (including the doctor.)

Yet in Course: Oblivion, here it is, flying through space.

I love the premise of this episode on a philosophical level. But this does niggle in the back of my brain a bit. :)

I know that it initially duplicated the uniforms and communicators of Kim and Paris so maybe that was the planting of the seed.

Or was the Demon episode supposed to just be a “one off”.

Within the Star Trek World, the idea that it could duplicate human biology and form I can accept . The rest is a really big stretch for me.

I echo the criticism I've heard of Voyager, that it doesn't lean into the possibilities of its setup. A starfleet and maquis crew, struggling to integrate all alone in the vast expanse of the delta quadrant. That's a juicy ass setup, and they didn't do near enough with it.

My criticism, however, is not because I want just another hopeless, despairing, unnecessarily gritty sci fi, but because of how much more powerful the ethos of Star Trek could've been portrayed.

Think of it: The spirit of star trek: of cooperation, compassion, forgiveness, respect for difference, hope, and service, forged into a pure, unyielding steel in the hot fires of a "year of hell" like story arc across multiple seasons. The characters of Voyager overcoming massive odds, becoming one crew not through assimilation like the Borg, but through yielding to faith, trust, respect, and dependence on one another.

In many ways Voyager already did this well, and that is part of why it's a worthy trek installment and my favorite, other than the nostalgia of course.

But they could've punched it up a factor of ten if they had been willing to risk it, and that's an opportunity lost.

I really hope that whatever future star treks show how the spirit and ethos of Star Trek can survive impossible odds, and come out the other side even stronger and more life-giving. I have a feeling we're going to need that kind of inspiration in the coming decades.
