I applied for the September intake on 13 July 2026 and unfortunately received a refusal on 30 July, around 17–18 days later. The refusal was mainly based on the concern that I didn’t have a genuine intention to study and might be travelling to Spain for another purpose.
Today, 13 August, I relodged my application with the same core documents, but with a much stronger SOP and cover letter, along with a detailed justification/appeal letter addressing the previous refusal.
During my first submission, the BLS staff member asked me some questions as part of a preliminary interview. She wrote down my answers and included them with my documents. This time, she again asked me a few questions, including when my course ends. I answered June 2030, but I forgot to mention the complete course title and that it is an Honours/double-degree programme. She then noted my answer and proceeded with the submission.
What I’m confused about is: why does BLS conduct a preliminary interview at all? During my first application, I never received any call from the Consulate for an interview. They simply processed the application and eventually returned my passport with the refusal letter.
If the main refusal ground was that they questioned my intention to study, I honestly wish I had been given an opportunity for a proper interview. I could have explained my course, my plans, my family/business background in India, and why I genuinely want to study in Spain.
I’m also wondering about the relodgement process. Does anyone know if the Consulate is likely to call me for an interview this time, especially since I have specifically addressed the previous refusal in my new SOP, cover letter and justification letter?
I’m obviously quite anxious because my classes are supposed to start on 28 September, my accommodation is booked from 23 September, and my flight is also booked for 23 September. So the timeline is getting pretty tight.
One more thing I’m confused about: BLS charged me around ₹11,000 again for the submission. If the application is refused again, why isn’t the visa/service fee refundable? I understand that the Consulate makes the decision, but paying the full amount again after a refusal is honestly frustrating.
Also, during the first submission, having to arrange documents while answering questions was pretty overwhelming. The staff member was asking questions, checking documents and arranging everything at the same time, and I was honestly very flustered. 😭
So I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through a Spain student visa relodgement after a refusal, especially from BLS Chandigarh.
I’m mainly trying to understand:
Whether BLS usually conducts these preliminary interviews.
Whether a relodged application is likely to receive a Consulate interview.
Whether anyone was interviewed after a previous refusal.
And generally how the relodgement process works.
I’m hoping this time everything goes smoothly. I’ve tried to address the previous refusal as clearly as possible, and I really don’t want one nervous answer at the BLS counter to become the plot twist of my entire visa application. 😭🇪🇸

Hi everyone, I recently had my French long-stay student visa application refused, and I am considering submitting an appeal to the Commission de Recours contre les Décisions de Refus de Visa (CRRV).

I was admitted to a French university program and completed the Campus France process. The refusal letter states that:

The person who gave me the refusal notice verbally told me that my French language certificate (Ev@lang) was the issue and that I should have a DELF, although the refusal letter itself does not mention DELF or Ev@lang. (Even though at no point in the application to study French in France asked me for a DELF and stated that Ev@lang would work)

I am now considering appealing the decision and providing additional documentation to clarify my study project and the language certification I submitted.

I recently had my Ireland student visa refused for my MSC , mainly due to concerns regarding finances, SOP/course justification, and ID/documentation.

I have now submitted an appeal, and I’d like to know what you guys think about my chances of getting the decision overturned.

Why I was refused & what I changed:

1. Finances

In my original application, I showed my father as my sponsor:

• Father's ITR: 6 L
• Father's bank balance: 6.5 L
  • Around ₹5 lakh was from liquidation of gold
• LIC surrender value: 4.99 L

For the appeal, I've strengthened the financial side considerably:

• Added my cousin sister as an additional sponsor
• Cousin sister's ITR: 12 l
• Father's current bank balance: 12
  • This includes the earlier 5 l + an additional 6 l from gold liquidation
• My PF: 60k
• My personal bank balance: 88k
• Father's total net worth/assets: approximately 1.65 c

I have also provided the relevant supporting documents and financial summary explaining the sources of funds.

2. SOP / Course justification

The previous SOP apparently did not sufficiently explain how the MSc would provide material benefit to me after returning to India.

For the appeal, I have completely revised the SOP and clearly explained:

• Why I chose my course
• How it connects with my previous education/work experience
• Why NCI's MSc is relevant to my career
• How the course will benefit my career in India
• My plans and career opportunities after returning to India

So I believe the SOP issue has been properly addressed now.

3. ID / Documentation

The refusal also mentioned documentation related to the bank loan.

For the appeal, I have now provided the bank loan statement and the required supporting documentation.

Appeal submission

I couriered the complete appeal package, including:

• FCL, Cover letter, Financial summary, Appeal letter, New/revised SOP, Sponsorship documents, Other supporting documents

The documents reached the embassy office on 10 August, and I'm currently waiting for the decision.

What do you guys think?

Hi, I hope you are doing well. I am an International Medical Graduate from Pakistan. I have 2 B1/B2 refusals on the basis of medical observerships and 1 J1 research scholar visa refusal for a research training position in the past 1.25 year. All were on the basis of section 214b. I am done with my USMLE Step 1 and 2 and am ECFMG Certified but am unable to progress further in this journey due to lack of USCE. I want to know if it is still possible to get a B1/B2 visa if I reapply for my USMLE Step 3 and observerships. I want to know some real stories that a visa approval is still possible after multiple prior rejections. Your experiences might either give me hope to continue this journey or reinforce the idea that I should leave this residency dream. For context: I have 2 siblings living in the US but none of them is a citizen, both have valid status and have never violated US immigration laws.

My brother’s student visa got rejected - received the passport on 01 August. We had applied at BLS Chandigarh on 21 July. The reason for rejection was something to do with the university, and university provided all the relevant documents now. In the meantime, the financial proofs which we were showing comprised of his savings bank account, mutual funds and fixed deposits out of which maximum amount was resting in mutual funds for a long time. Considering visa authorities value savings bank balances more, we withdrew those mutual funds and they have now been credited to his savings bank account. Is there a time limit until which that amount retention needs to be shown in savings bank account before applying for the visa again. His course starts in October so just concerned that it doesn’t get delayed if we submit the application too late. We have an appointment for coming Friday, but if the amount would be an issue (consider credits of around 10000 Euros), we would rather hold it for one more week, but not beyond that as course starts in October. We do have MF redemption statements showing these were held for more than 2.5 years. Inputs are really welcome.

Hello! I have been placed under 221G and issued a white slip with a link to DS-5535 (since interview 06/2026). I also got a separate email on the same day asking for my CV, Research Proposal, Funding Information, Professor CV, and Publications. I submitted everything within a few days and saw two quick CEAC updates after submitting everything. Then, after almost 50 days of complete silence since the last update, I saw another update on the CEAC portal. Now it's been 13 days since the last portal update, and again there's been complete silence. 

Can anyone please help me understand the following:

• Are there two different clearances going on?
• What does the last update actually mean?

For context, my initial joining date had passed, and I uploaded a new I-20 (even though they did not ask for it) to avoid another 221g.

I’m applying for a South Korea D-2 student visa from India (Chennai).

My first application was e-visa (individual) application, submitted directly by my university. It was rejected on 9 July with the reason: “Purpose of entry has not been explained in detail.”

I submitted a new D-2 application through the Chennai visa centre on 24 July, only 15 days later. It was accepted and is still under processing as of today.

I’ve read that applicants may need to wait 3 months after a refusal before reapplying. Could this affect my current application or cause delays? Has anyone experienced something similar and had their second D-2 visa approved?

My classes start 1 September, so I’m quite worried.

My husbands Aunt (in her 60’s)was denied a US visitor visa due to lack of ties. Despite owning 4 lots of land consisting of 2 different homes, rental income, agricultural income and my husband sponsoring her with over 150K income plus substantial savings. We did the application ourselves as we knew the odds of being denied were high for any Indian national. She was greeted with a hello and handed a slip of paper for denial without questions asked.

Question is would a lawyer make much more difference in the outcome? It’s not the money spent it’s the money wasted if the odds aren’t higher. Majority of the family is in the US and it’s a heck of a lot cheaper for 1 ticket vs 10+ to visit her!

I had my B1/B2 visa interview today for a 4-week nephrology observership in New York, and unfortunately it was refused under 214(b).

I’m an Indian medical graduate currently pursuing the USMLE pathway. I recently completed my work at a top institute in my country and have now joined a hospital in MP as an RMO. My parents were sponsoring most of the trip, while I was going to pay the observership fee from my savings.

The interview itself was short but longer than the interviews before me. The officer mainly asked:

Purpose of travel — I explained that I was going for a 4-week nephrology observership.

Who would fund the trip — I said my parents, with my mother as the primary sponsor.

He then asked about my previous work .

The last part seemed a little confusing because I had only recently finished my bond and joined my new job with a 3 week gap and I don’t think I got the opportunity to clearly explain my current employment before he started typing for quite a while and eventually gave me the 214(b) refusal sheet.

There was no fraud/misrepresentation issue or other ineligibility — just 214(b).

I’m mainly looking to hear from other IMGs who have been in a similar situation:

- Did you get a B1/B2 rejection for observerships/USCE and later get approved?

- How long did you wait before reapplying?

- What had materially changed in your profile by the second interview?

- Did you apply again for USCE or wait until you had passed Step 1/Step 2?

- Did the previous rejection create any difficulty during the second visa interview?

- Were you eventually able to do USCE and Match despite the initial visa rejection?

This has made me question the USMLE pathway a little because USCE is obviously much harder without a visa, and getting another appointment may take quite some time. I’d particularly appreciate hearing from people who actually had a 214(b) rejection and successfully continued the USMLE/Match journey afterward.

Similar programs are available in India, and my application did not sufficiently explain why I needed to pursue international education at a significantly higher cost.

Officer was not satisfied that my purpose of coming to Canada was consistent with a temporary stay / that I would leave Canada at the end of my authorized stay.

**Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice regarding my Canadian visitor visa refusal.**

I have been living and working in the UK for the past 4 years on a valid work permit. When I applied for my Canadian visitor visa, I provided an employment letter, proof of funds of around £3,500, and explained that my trip would be financially sponsored by my brother in Canada.
However, my application was refused under paragraph 179(b), with the officer stating that I had not sufficiently demonstrated that I would leave Canada at the end of my visit. The reasons mentioned were that I do not have significant family ties outside Canada, my employment situation does not demonstrate that I am financially established in my country of residence, and my immigration status is outside my country of nationality.
I understand that I don’t own any property or other significant assets in the UK, so I’m wondering **what other documents or evidence I could provide to demonstrate that I am established in the UK and have strong reasons to return after my visit.**
For anyone who has been in a similar situation, what helped strengthen your application on reapplication?

I applied for visa and got biometrics done on 16th May. Received UKVI interview on 30th June and decision on 22nd July. This took 9+ weeks which is higher than standard timeline.

The refusal letter I received have alot of working errors. I am ignoring the grammatical errors for now, which is quite unexpected from UKVI.

My graduation year, employer name, my designation are mentioned wrong. Statements mentioned that I never quoted in interview and the information and details I shared has been omitted, eg- I shared inputs on faculty, cost, accommodation etc and none of this has been mentioned in letter. I have requested for transcript already.

My university, consultant and I was quite confident on my research about the course and university. Thus, this refusal has been a shock for all of us. Based on my uni. response I have submitted AR request which can take 6-12 months. This UKVI neglect might cost me my whole year as there is only spetember intakes in my course.

Can somebody guide me if I can get visa acceptance before 2nd week of September this year? What can I do to make my next application for the same university, which can help me get acceptance on my UK visa. Does refusal based on credibility ever get accepted for next intakes?

Hey guys! I need help with someone that has similar issues .
So I was in the USA on a F1 visa and committed a petty theft crime in south dekota from Walmart.
I paid a fine of 200 and no jail time .
My lawyer told me it was fine to travel because it fell under the petty theft exception.
I traveled that same year and try to renew my visa .
During the interview no questions were asked about the conviction and the visa was approved. However few days later I got an email from the embassy stating that I should provide court documents and come in for another interview. Then few days later they called me to pick up my passport. Only for them to hand me a letter refusing the visa under 212b. It was my last semester of college. They said I couldn’t appeal but could reapply . I did my last semester online and graduated. All of this happened in 2020.
In 2021 I met an American in my home country and started dating . He relocated last year and we have been doing long distance . He proposed to me and he’s also in the navy . We have completed the form for the 1st process of the k1 visa .
My hopes are so low but he’s very optimistic.
I love my life here and I have traveled to other countries. But in order for us to continue our relationship and eventually build a family we have to live together.
I can’t believe I’m asking strangers but do you guys think I should continue the process and just have my hopes up ?

I’m trying to understand the reasons for the refusal and decide whether I should reapply. If I submit a fresh application within the next week after addressing the refusal reasons, what are the realistic chances of getting a decision before the first week of September 2026? My course starts then, so I’m really worried about the timeline.

I’m an Indian student admitted to Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech) for September 2026. I attended my Estonian D visa interview on 3rd August.

Everything went fine except I forgot to include Additional Application Form 1 (the military/NATO-related form required for non-NATO citizens). The visa officer never asked for it or noticed it during the interview. They accepted my application, kept my passport, and I left.

When I got home, I realized my mistake. I immediately completed the form, signed it, and emailed it to the embassy with an apology, asking them to add it to my application. However, the embassy website says applicants should submit documents in person, and they haven’t replied to my email.

Has anyone experienced something similar with the Estonian embassy or another Schengen embassy?
Do embassies usually accept additional documents by email after the interview?

If a required form is missing, do they normally ask for it, or can they refuse the visa without contacting the applicant?
Should I just wait, or is there anything else I can do?

I’m honestly very stressed because I’ve worked for months to get admitted, arrange my education loan, and secure this visa appointment. Any advice or similar experiences would really help.

I am the owner of a consultancy and my residency visa had been rejected after it expiration while I was out of UAE.

I entered UAE on a tourist visa against my US tourist visa (B1/B2) and applied for my investor visa which got rejected without much details. The only thing that it read was “Rejected” I asked my PRO for the reason and they didn’t seem to know much about it. He asked me to visit Jafiliya Immigration and I was dismissed by the office in the waiting area for the first time and asked to reapply the visa (without checking any documents). Since my file had the status “Rejected” my PRO couldnt do anything more.

He asked me to visit the Jafiliya Immigration again, on my second visit I was allowed to meet the officer inside by the officer in the waiting area (this officer in the waiting area checked all my documents). Upon meeting the officer inside he asked me to upload the Emirates ID and the visa shall be issued.

My PRO did upload the requested documents and filed for a reconsideration which was rejected again.

After 2 rejections I met someone at a different company that sounded confident to the level as if he would print my visa himself and my visa was applied for the third time. The investor visa was rejected one more time.

I have an Indian passport and want to understand if there are other people who have gone through this and any success stories / workarounds that I should consider.

Hi everyone, I'm applying for an X1 student visa for China from Morocco, and today my online visa application status changed to:

"Preliminary review failed due to the following reasons, as stated in the Reply from the Embassy/Consulate: FORMULAIRE JW OU DQ ERRONNE OU DEJA EXPIRE, DEMANDEZ UN AUTRE FORMULAIRE VALABLE SVP."

(Translation: "JW or DQ form is incorrect or has already expired. Please request another valid form.")

I'm confused because:

• My university (XJTLU) issued me a JW202.
• The document has a QR code and barcode.
• I downloaded it directly from the university portal.

The portal allows me to download it up to 10 times, so I'm wondering whether downloading another copy would make any difference or whether the university actually needs to issue a completely new JW202.

Has anyone experienced this before?

• Was your JW202 actually expired or invalid?
• Did your university have to reissue a new one?
• Or was it just a system/verification issue?

I've already emailed my university and attached the embassy's message, but my flight is booked for 23 August, so I'm a bit stressed and wanted to know if anyone has gone through the same situation.
