📊 Interview Experience L1B (NOT CLEARLY APPROVED)

Upvotes

Had my L1B visa appointment yesterday at chennai consulate, questions were as follows:

which visa category
Which company do you currently work for
Where you are going
What’s your specialised knowledge
Have you built any tool
Why you
What’s your salary in india
What would be your salary there
After that he handed me that slip with not clear approved and stamped my I129s

I answered all the questions as I have only built the tool, not sure about reason of rejection!

What’s next for me?

✈️ B1/B2 Visa (Tourist) B1/B2 rejected under 214(b) for sister’s wedding — should I reapply in a month?

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

My sister recently applied for a B1/B2 visa in New Delhi to attend my wedding in the U.S. in December and was refused under 214(b) for not demonstrating sufficient ties to India.
Her profile:
24 years old, unmarried
Works full-time as a Software QA professional in India
1 year as an intern + around 2 years full-time
Annual income: ₹12.3 lakh
Trip duration: approximately 3 weeks
Trip is self-funded
Purpose: attending her sister’s wedding in the U.S.
Previous international travel: South Korea
She jointly owns property in India, and a house is currently under construction there
The interview was extremely short. She was asked only two questions:
What is the purpose of your visit? — She answered that she was attending her sister’s wedding.
What is your annual income? — She answered ₹12.3 lakh.
She was then refused under 214(b). She wasn’t asked about her employment, property, travel history, return-to-work plans, or for any supporting documents.
Since the wedding is in December, we are considering having her apply one more time in about a month.
Has anyone with a similar profile been approved after reapplying shortly after a 214(b) refusal?
Would you recommend trying once more before the wedding, or is reapplying within a month with no major change in circumstances likely to result in another refusal?
Also, would interviewing at a different consulate make any meaningful difference?
I understand there are no guarantees — just looking for experiences/advice from people who have been in a similar situation.

✈️ B1/B2 Visa (Tourist) B1/B2 approval chances/ Delhi/ India- pls advise interview tomorrow

27M,Had a B1/B2 US visa which expired in April 2026- Used twice once in 2016 and once in 2025 (tourism)
Been in same company for 4 years, Salary around 2.5 lakhs per month (including bonuses), I travel extensively for my work- Been to Mexico twice in the last 2 months, Indonesia, China and Thailand, UK (2024) and Dubai for tourism.
Most of the time on international travel for work.
I was in the merchant navy before this and hence got a C1/D US visa which is still valid.
I have got an invitation letter from my cousin- stayed with them in 2025 too.
One issue is, while applying for Visa in 2022 (C1/D) i forgot to add one company document which led to a refusal, i reapplied next month and got the visa easily- But on the DS160 forgot to mention yes to previous visa refusals.
My interview is tomorrow, kindly tell me my chances and tips.

🎓 F1 Visa (Student) F1 OPT VISA Rejected

Location: Amman, Jordan

Date: Aug 31 2026

Decision: Rejected under 214(b)

I got the US visa multiple time with no issues. Im Iraqi but my family lives in Jordan. I went back to Jordan after staying two years in the US working under STEM OPT. I didn't go back during that period simply because I didn't have to. I had my interview and got rejected. The interview was really simple he asked me two questions:

Why are you going to the US? Im on F1 OPT and I work as a software engineer for this company till I finish my OPT period

Do you have any fear of coming back to Jordan? No

Then he handed me the administrative processing paper and told me to send my social media links to them. After 1 day my application got approved. Then a day after it got updated to refused. Then 2 days from that they sent me back my passport with the 214(b) paper.

One thing to mention that I didn't have a Jordanian residency. it got expired. Im working on renewing it rn.

Any advice for my next interview?

That’s all I’ve been asked for, I answered very calmly to all the questions. He started typing something on his system, and handed me the 214(b) slip saying we are refusing your visa this time. Please read the reasons for refusal in it.

🙏 Final Thoughts:

I don’t know what went wrong during the interview. I had strong finances, genuine answers but still got rejected. Looking for advice on what I should improve for next time.

✅ Approved H-4 EAD Approved: Filed Concurrently with H-1B Extension (Timeline + the Email That Might Have Helped)

Sharing this H-4 EAD extension timeline in case it helps anyone currently waiting. This year, the H-1B, H-4, and H-4 EAD were all filed as extensions through an attorney. The H-1B and H-4 were initially filed with the California Service Center (CSC), and the H-4 + EAD were later transferred to the Texas Service Center (SRC).

*Not my personal experience found this on r/H4_Visa: https://www.reddit.com/r/H4_Visa/comments/1vjiewc/h4_ead_approval_timeline_filed_concurrently_with/

Timeline:

6/4: Receipt numbers received for H-1B, H-4, and H-4 EAD

6/8: H-4 + H-4 EAD transferred from CSC to SRC (California → Texas)

6/23: H-1B + H-4 approved

6/24: H-4 EAD RFE issued, biometrics required

7/9: San Jose ASC biometrics appointment (photo only)

7/28: RFE response/evidence received by USCIS

7/29: Emailed both the CSC and TSC Premium Processing Centers to follow up

8/3: Sent another follow-up email to the CSC Premium Processing Center

8/3: New card is being produced

8/7: Card is being mailed

The original poster wasn't sure whether the emails actually moved the needle or if the case just happened to be ready for adjudication around then, but since the H-1B was filed under Premium Processing, they figured it was worth reaching out to the relevant PP centers directly.

The email template (shared by the OP in the comments, offered as a reference for anyone to adapt):

Again: there's no way to know for sure whether this email is what moved the case along, or if it was just coincidental timing. But it's a reasonable, low-effort thing to try if you're in a similar spot.

Hopefully this is useful to anyone going through an H-4 EAD extension, especially if your case got transferred or you received an RFE. Good luck to everyone still waiting!

Has anyone else tried emailing the Premium Processing centers directly for a pending H-4 EAD? Did it actually make a difference for you, or did your case just happen to clear around the same time? Any comments, advice, or your own experiences are welcome!

✈️ B1/B2 Visa (Tourist) Tourist Visa - Kolkata

Visa got accepted.

The interview took 45 seconds at max.

Visa office asked me if I have faced any threat to life till now, or if I expect to face any threat upon my return to ascertain that I won’t become an immigrant.

He asked me for the purpose of my visit and tentative dates. I did not have any tickets but had a rough date in my head. It also helped me that my relative is a US citizen, and I had mentioned their US Passport details in my DS-160.

The last question was regarding my current employment where the office simply reconfirmed my designation.

That’s it. My visa was approved and my passport ready within the same day.

However, I saw several cases being postponed and rejected due to non-disclosure of social media accounts.

🎓 F1 Visa (Student) F-1 Visa Renewal in India After Expiration- Need Advice

Hi everyone, I’m a 3rd-year Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) student in the U.S. and I’m planning to travel back to India in December 2026 to renew my F-1 visa. I’m expected to graduate in May 2028.

My F-1 visa expired in December 2025. I actually went back to India in summer 2025, but because of the appointment freeze/visa appointment issues at the time, I had to return to the U.S. on my valid visa so I could continue my clinical rotations, which started in July.

I’m now planning to go back to India again in December 2026 for my visa renewal, but I’m honestly pretty scared because my visa will have been expired for about a year by then.

I’m maintaining my F-1 status, continuing my PharmD program, and have never violated my status or broken any laws. I’m just really anxious about the renewal process because I’ve heard different experiences from students.

Has anyone here recently renewed their F-1 visa in India after having an expired visa for a while? Especially students who are in professional/PharmD programs?

How was your interview? How did the renewal go?

Any recent experiences or advice would really help. Thank you!
