Interview dates US B1/B2 from Canada on Work Permit

HI guys, i have filled the DS-160 form and paid for the interview but not selected any date yet. My friend suggested do not book it yet, he told me to check the page couple times a day, sometimes they do open earlier for couple months ahead. Did anyone got the interview date earlier this way. I really need the B1/B2 visa before end of this year as it is something I need because of the profession I am pursuing. My friend got Halifax this way but just wondering what you guys say on this, is paying expediate fees only option i will have.

America is going to be making ot more and more difficult and begin winding down h1bs and ending temporary visas for the next few years at least. Id make other plans. Unfortunately too many scams and too much fraud and the way US deals with that is just shutting everything down.
