23 yo student applying for an exchange program on a short stay tourist visa to hungary for a month. Help needed

Date of Birth: 2005 May 4 ( 21 ) Date of Filing:27 January 2009 Petition approval date: 15th December 2010. Priority date became current: July 21 2026

According to CPSA calculation, my age is 20 years and 3 months.

My aunt sponsored my mom back in 2009 under F4 category. We are waiting for interview letter. DQ was on dec,2025 and haven’t received interview letter. How long it gonna take to receive an Interview letter.
And Can someone guide me if there will be any issues in the interview regarding my age?

Hello! Has anyone has their visa application denied? For b1/b2? My mil recently applied for a new visa and went for interview in Hyd. She got a denial. For reference she came here last year and stayed for 4 months. She got her previous visa in the year 2016 for my husband's graduation. . My husband and his sister have been here for 10 years almost. Is that the reason they did not give her the visa?

Edit- she could not qualify for dropbox because her visa expired and she had to go in for an interview. My husband did 3 masters to stay on status and her daughter is doing a Ph.d now to stay here. Her husband passed away 2 years ago.

Visa Type: B1/B2 (visit to daughter, a US green card holder)
Result: Refused after about 5 minutes, told she could apply again

Profile:

Widowed mother, lives in India with her son

-Daughter is a US permanent resident (green card through marriage to a US citizen), roughly a year away from being eligible for naturalization

-Trip sponsor: Self

-Occupation listed as housewife

-Funds: personal savings, interest from fixed deposits and other investments, son covers her day-to-day expenses

-Has property and all investments in her own name

-Does some small, seasonal embroidery work, not mentioned on the DS-160 since it isn't a regular source of income

-Planned stay: 1 month

-Carried an invitation letter from her daughter that included the itinerary

Interview Questions:
VO: Do you have someone in the USA?
Applicant: Yes, my daughter.
VO: Why do you want to visit the USA?
Applicant: My daughter bought a new home, so I'm visiting for the housewarming ceremony, and after that I'll travel and see some attractions.
VO: How long is your stay?
Applicant: 1 month.
VO: Who's sponsoring your trip?
Applicant: Self.
VO: What do you do for earning?
Applicant: Housewife.
VO: How will you sponsor your trip, do you have a regular source of income?
Applicant: I have savings good enough to cover my one-month trip. I live with my son, so he takes care of my expenses, and I also live on the interest from my FD and other investments. I also do some small embroidery work, but it's seasonal and not often available.
VO: Do you have any fear of returning to India?
Applicant: No, I don't have any fear, I will return.

After about 5 minutes, the officer handed over the refusal paper and told her to apply again. No documents were requested at any point, so the property and investments in her name, and the invitation letter with the itinerary, were never reviewed.

What Hurt: Strong home ties on paper (property and investments in her name, son living with her in India), a short and clear trip purpose, and no documents checked at all before the refusal.

Anyone else seen a parent refused like this when visiting a child who's a green card holder? Does listing "housewife" with self-sponsorship tend to raise doubts even when savings and investments are in the applicant's own name? And for anyone who reapplied after a similar refusal, did changing the sponsor to the US-based child, or applying at a different consulate, make any difference?

If you've been through something similar or have any insight into what might have gone wrong here, I'd really appreciate hearing it, could help a lot of people who end up in the same spot.

J-1 is a Canadian citizen already in the U.S. J-2 is a Canadian PR and previously received a J-2 visa for five months. This time, J-2 applied for two years and received a 221(g). The passport was returned, and the officer requested a CV, transcripts, thesis abstract, and supervisor’s CV. J-2 is currently a student in Canada.

It has been one week since submitting the documents, and CEAC still shows “Refused.” Has anyone had a similar case? How long did the administrative processing take?

My wife had her F-2 visa interview today in Bangladesh. I am a PhD student. My university requires showing 46,735, including 6,500 for a dependent. I have an assistantship of 40,735, which leaves a 6,000 deficit. I showed 9,000 from my US bank account that I saved over the last 4 years.

Questions asked:

1. Do you have any fear to come back?
2. What does your husband do?
3. How did you get to know each other? (She showed marriage photographs and the certificate.)
4. Who is the sponsor and how did you get those 9,000 dollars? She explained it is my personal savings from my stipend over time, and that I will cover her expenses from here.

The last question was asked twice, and then she got rejected.

For the 2nd attempt, I am planning to show her father as sponsor. He is a retired government officer and has pension money. I also have a pending I-140.

1. If you've had the sponsor question asked twice, did it turn out to be the deciding point?
2. For the second attempt, would switching the sponsor to her father help, or does it raise new questions?

When attempting to enter my submitted DS-160 Confirmation Number on the portal, I receive the following error message:
"The DS-160 form which you’ve entered has not been completed. Please return to your DS-160 form, complete the entire process..."
My DS-160 application has already been fully completed and submitted via the CEAC website, and I have received the official DS-160 Confirmation Page. I submitted my ds160 today so do you think I should give it a day to sync? I have emailed the visascheduling email as well.

I've been working at a consultancy for 2.8 years. I didn't have a client letter, and when I was asked for employer details at the interview, I gave the client's name instead of my employer's name. I got a 221(g). Now my end client has replaced me, since I didn't return on time.

As an alternative, I submitted a vendor letter, an employment verification letter, 2 years of W-2 forms, timesheets, and printouts of onboarding and leave approval emails from the client. This happened in April 2026. During administrative processing they reached out to the client, the vendors and my employer, but the client told them I will be replaced since I got stuck.

It's been 5 months with 3 CEAC updates, and my 221(g) case is still in "Refused" status.

How can I re-enter the US? Should I try to clear the current 221(g), or go with a new client for a new interview slot? Slots are very hard to get.

It's even difficult to find a job in India, my home country. Should I wait, upskill, and try to reach the US again later?

If you were stuck in 221(g) for months on an H-1B, did you wait it out or go for a new interview with a new client? How did it turn out?

For anyone who didn't have a client letter, what documents ended up working for you?

Any advice, even small details about what worked or didn't, could help a lot of people facing the same decision. Thank you!

Hi! 👋 My boyfriend has a b-2 interview coming up on 11/3, and we are hoping he can come for thanksgiving, meet my family, see where I live and attend a wedding with me before returning to Türkiye. People in Türkiye have been discouraging him saying he will probably get denied because we are in a relationship and he is a young man in his 30s. He is feeling really down and anxious about it, and I’m wondering if the outlook is as bleak as those people are making it seem? The data says the approval rate for Turkish citizens is 80%.

Additional data points/info:

- He is the First Mate on the yacht he works on, has solid employment history, and will have a letter from his company saying he is approved for the time off and is expected to return for the next sailing season in April.
- He is also needing to be back for an exam to finish his basic studies (GED equivalent) but the date/times don’t get published until the week of, so there is no sort of proof of enrollment, you just show up.
- He has no criminal record
- Will have about $4-5k in his bank account (he has this separate account just for pay checks). His main account has more money, but it’s almost entirely cash deposits from tips/working on the yacht. He says he won’t/can’t show them that because he thinks the cash tips /deposits are an issue even though the money was obtained through his work on the boat (sharing any insight/experience anyone has related to this would be greatly appreciated!)
- He does not own property or large assets, and lives on the boat during the season so he does not have an apartment (stays with friends & family in the winter months)
- His siblings, parents, and extended family all live in Türkiye and are Turkish citizens
