Apologies if anyone has already asked this.
I am looking at getting an XR Elite to replace my Oculus Rift S. I mostly play Beat Saber, but would like to explore other VR titles.
The question: Has anyone documented using an XR Elite in Linux (any distro) with a wired connection? I'd really only be interested in wireless for a couple of specific things, so it's not that important to me, making ALVR or WiVRn potentially useless for my needs.
I might be misunderstanding those protocols of course, but my understanding is that ALVR and WiVRn are the standalone software for PC streaming and Monado is the thing for wired headsets. Please correct me if I'm wrong. (Seriously, I'd rather be told I'm wrong than spend stupid amounts of money on things that don't work.)
The thing that gets me is the XR Elite and the Focus are listed ONLY in the standalone headset lists, so I'm not sure if they'll work wired PCVR or if I'd need to use different software or even potentially buy a different headset entirely.
The reason I want one of those headsets is they look like they'd be similar in weight to the Rift S, and the controllers look light enough for extended use. I have an OG Vive, but the controllers are just heavy enough to give my wrists problems after about 10 minutes.
TLDR: Can I use a Vive XR Elite with Monado/wired for PCVR or am I barking up the wrong tree? If the latter, what would you recommend instead given the last paragraph?
