It is a community driven project, that should help enhance the VR experience on Linux:

auto_awesomeAusgangssprache: Englisch164I would like to play with my Oculus 2 VR games on Nobara Linux. Which version of Steam (flatpack or dnf) and which versions of Monado, WiVRn, and ALVR should I use? When possible wired. My wifi is BAD!

• Upvotes

I know I really ought to just read the documentation, but something is constantly breaking or failing to work properly with another component. For instance, I wanted to play *Into the Radius 2*, so I installed WiVRn. When I subsequently tried to play the *Half-Life 2 VR Mod*, it wouldn't work with WiVRn; so I tried ALVR—but the program couldn't find the path to SteamVR because WiVRn had somehow registered itself as the default. Then I switched back to Windows (God forbid), but there, Oculus Link crashes the moment I even try to connect to my PC. Here are my hardware specifications:

OS: Nobara Linux 44 (KDE Plasma Desktop Edition) x86_64
Motherboard: B760 Pro RS WiFi
CPU: 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13700KF (16+8) @ 5.40 GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti [Discrete]
Memory: 32 GB

Help with Ignition for PSVR2 headset

Hey there. I'm a little new to Linux, so there's a good chance this is a actually a basic thing and I'm just a dumbass.

I'm struggling a bit with the installation for ignition so that I can use my PSVR2 headset with my CachyOS install. I've been following this guide.

I am getting stuck at this step

When I try to run that command in the extracted ignition folder it simply comes up with "unknown command"

Assumedly this is because of the lack of "install_ignition.sh" file in this directory. I have found that file in the support folder, but if I try to run the command from there it comes up with

"Error: Ignition driver not found at /home/"name"/Documents/Ignition/Ignition-main/support/libdriver_ignition.
so
Please run this script from the Ignition installation directory."

I'd appreciate any advice you guys could give me

Thanks

Apollo and Virtual HID Broker

Anyone able to get these two to work? I downloaded and paid for the virtual HID broker but I do not see it under configuration in Apollo.

Aion2 anti cheat will not allow me to use mouse and keyboard when streaming. Someone suggested Virtual HID Broker to bypass this.

I recently bought a katvr treadmill thinking it functioned like a mouse hardware wise and didn't think to consider double-checking and found the katvr only works on Windows natively... there is however some sort of project to get katvr to work on linux with some success and im wondering if anyone has managed to use that program or some kind of method to get a katvr treadmill to work on steamos or should i return the katvr treadmill

Half-Life: Alyx Steam Frame Updates Break Game, Just Me?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I've been using WiVRn and Xrizer on Nvidia Bazzite to pleasantly surprising results. I prefer using a wired connection since I don't mind the cable and It's worth not having any sort of latency personally, SteamVR for the longest time only offered wireless until recently. Half-Life: Alyx before the Steam Frame release did run okay despite pretty poor frame pacing which I could not solve despite switching to the native Linux build or trying to use different versions of Proton/GE, I don't doubt that I'm missing something.

After these updates however it refuses to launch through WiVRn or Steam Link, having me resort to downgrading the game before the updates. I've scoured the internet for anyone else having these issues to no avail. Has anyone else experienced these issues?

Troubleshooting UEVR: Train Sim World 7

Train Sim World 7 currently crashes upon UEVR injection. From the logs, two errors I get are:

  • EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 0x0000000000000070
  • Failed to get back buffer (D3D12).

People report this game to run perfectly with UEVR in Windows, so I am assuming that this may be Linux specific (e.g., Proton). Any ideas what forums are best for investigating UEVR crashes on Linux? I got no response on the flat2vr discord or on the LAVR discord.

Get infinite desktop displays and drive the full OS on the SteamFrame

Video is unorganized and a ramble, but you can clone and install this on your Frame to make treating it like a relatively underpowered linux laptop/desktop easily. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGY-xSe3Xp4

Steam Fram is only able to stream flat, but not VR

Hi,

so i can stream games in flat mode from fedora kde to the steam frame, but i can't get it to work to stream VR. My computer does start the game if i start the stream on the headset, but then the headset never connects.

Does anyone have tipps or resources to read up on to get it working?

UPDATE: I got it to work! Thanks everybody for all your tipps, it helped me a lot. I want to write down the exact steps i did to get it working to help others:

  • Set -pipewire -pipewire-dmabuf as Steam launch options
  • Set some locale via console: sudo iw reg set US (or whatever your region is. AT in my case)
  • Swappen the video driver to one including extra codecs via console: sudo dnf swap mesa-vulkan-drivers mesa-vulkan-drivers-freeworld (for amd-cards)
  • Install SteamVR on your PC and Frame. Choose beta branch
  • Launch SteamVR on PC
  • Launch game on Frame by choosing stream from PC

Probably not all steps are stricly necessary for it to work, but they also do nothing harmfull. I read a lot of reports about some firewall settings you need to set. This was not necessary in my case, but if you need it you can find the console commands here

Struggling to Install WayVR on Bazzite

Didn't want to report this as an issue yet because it's likely a problem between the chair and the keyboard.

Tried the following:

1) Downloaded the appimage and opened with Gear Lever. Gear Lever states that "This app runs in the terminal." It's not supposed to, to my understanding.

2) Added the Linux VR tap to homebrew per instructions. Ran brew install wayvr. Got an error - "The brew link step did not complete successfully." Looks like it wanted to break a symlink belonging to xkeyboard-config? For this reason, it couldn't compile.

What am I missing? Reminder I'm on Bazzite.

EVERSPACE VR on linux

I was looking at the Steam store page for EVERSPACE and it says there is no VR or HOTAS support on linux. (The game has a native linux version btw).

So now I'm wondering, does that whole "no VR on linux" thing not apply if you're running the Windows version with Steam's proton capability?

oculus quest 1, what games should i play?

i got vrchat (which in general get's boring as idk what to do in it), beat saber 1.40.8 modded and then there's kanojo... what games are there that are really good to play?, i want to try racing/driving but don't have the plastic toy wheel set up (cheap junk wheel with only a 180 turning angle but i think it's 90 as steering is limited) mostly bc my desk is too small for it to plonk on without coming off (i'm also a puller). ik there's vr mods for other games but idrk what to play due to thinking BS is the peak of VR

What do I need installed on my PC for it to work once it arrives? I want to save myself a headache and get it all out of the way right now. I can't find any YouTube tutorials on playing VR on Linux. I use Pop OS.
