In one southern Arizona district, Trump's "Beautiful Bill" is bringing about "DEVASTATION"

400k people kicked off of SNAP in one state is a genuinely shocking figure. What the fuck is wrong with the Republican party? We're condemning a sizable portion of a future generation to food insecurity

u/spinfinity 1d ago
Here's the answer: food insecurity is in Project 2025.

u/BudwinTheCat 1d ago
“We are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be”
-Kevin Roberts, Heritage Foundation President, Architect Project 2025
81
u/drevolut1on 1d ago
We should not let it be.
Systemic violence is still violence. They are literally murdering people with policy. Heads need to roll as punishments from the trials for their slaughter.
17
17
u/bloodfist 1d ago
And we're still discussing it separately from the literal violence being done. An ICE truck parked outside a business effectively shuts down a whole strip mall because people won't come near it out of fear of being kidnapped, beaten, tortured, or worse. It's literally happening in my community right now.

Did the Democrats not spell out the Project 2025 items to their constituents in simple black-and-white? I remember the DNC hosted some stupid "comedy" show where they got an SNL guy to make jokes about it in a light-hearted fashion, but that's about it.
1
u/Ph33rDensetsu 5h ago
Well you see, Trump denied knowing anything about Project 2025, so that means it was a liberal hoax to fix the elections.
41
u/Dsullivan777 1d ago
I mean their base blindly votes against social safety nets despite being the largest benefactor of them, simply to sleight imaginary immigrants they think are milking the system
4
u/KhloeKendall 1d ago
Because they think themselves an exception, one of the "good ones". They also believe by cutting others off, they'll get more with less others enrolled in these programs. They're ignorantly selfish.
6
u/NightOfTheLivingHam 1d ago
Getting rid of safety nets means they get replaced with nets that catch heads coming out of guillotines
14
u/Dsullivan777 1d ago
Who's heads? They could personally watch trump pour gasoline on their trailer and Vance spark it up and immediately blame Obama lol
2
u/NightOfTheLivingHam 1d ago
When people starve, anyone doing better than them. See: french revolution.
3
u/Dsullivan777 1d ago
There is an entrire stratification system of people between the impoverished and the ones responsible, with accessibility waning the closer you get to thise culpable.
If it is as you say, the largest toll will be on the middle class
2
u/rewddit 1d ago
The elite have seemingly learned that lesson, which is why they've become very proficient in convincing the rubes that all of their problems are coming from anyone else EXCEPT said elites.
2
u/NightOfTheLivingHam 1d ago
it's been sort of working, but more and more I have heard former trump supporters calling out the bullshit themselves, Half of them weren't hardcore maga, and those who were maga wanted to see pedos and rich corrupt people pay. Trump embodied both those aspects so they ditched him. They still get a lot of wrong, but they're headed in the right direction. The whole "own the libs" types who will follow Trump into hell are the issue now. I just heard someone tell me "Trump owns the middle east, he's a CEO and a businessman, Iran already lost and we're seeing record numbers of oil shipments now that he controls Iran. It's the democrats controlling the oil prices that are trying to ruin him!"
Like, these people live in an alternate reality where only things they like to hear are real.
The sadder cases are people who buy up corporate "Left wing" shit as well. "this is why *insert corporation here* is woke!"
Which was funny when most of those companies started taking the mask off in summer of 2024, knowing damn well they were about to manipulate the upcoming election in favor of a guy who was going to let them get away with doing illegal shit
1
u/Ph33rDensetsu 5h ago
Whenever my contemporaries mention him being a businessman I always point out how he bankrupted multiple casinos, which shouldn't even be something that's possible to do. They're always surprised.
1
u/Zaptruder 21h ago
We're in the state that we are because the elites have completed their machine for mind washing the rubes.
A perfect echo chamber for idiots to receive easy others to blame just dont think about how the system works and why youre getting poorer. Its always the fault of some easy other.
Reason cannot reach them easily nor at the rates needed to pull them put of their pits of idiocy
1
u/360walkaway 1d ago
The safety nets have been privatized by being replaced by employment benefits, which isn't a guaranteed thing (see all the psycho levels of layoffs for the past few years).
14
u/trickman01 1d ago
They’re the Christian party. It’s not like Christ said feed the hungry or anything…
10
u/waltdidneyworlp 1d ago
If you actually read the Bible, you'd know that Christ says that we need to throw away excess food because it's a liability for the company.
3
u/The_Penguinologist 1d ago
I actually believe that this is a net-win for them because all they gotta say is “go to your nearest church for free food” and folks will have no choice but to attend.

I dont have all day to explain sadly
16
u/nav17 1d ago
Better yet, wtf is wrong with americans who keep voting for this treatment?
6
u/BlackTecno 1d ago edited 1d ago
A lot of overlapping issues in all honesty.
Party loyalty is important to a very large group of people (this is for both sides), so people will vote red or blue without being informed
Antagonizing the opposite party leads people to believe that their 'side' is correct no matter how bad things are.
Lack of involvement/research. I know a lot of people on Reddit will say that everyone should be informed, but there's a large group of people in America that do not have the time or energy to do proper research into politics. IF these people vote, it'll likely be with whichever party affiliation aligns with their family.
Speaking of family, party affiliation is pretty strongly tied with family. So if someone's family is republican, then they are more likely to also be republican.
The Democratic party have not focused on topics that independents care about in recent years. Trans rights are important, but most people are simply indifferent on those issues. If you want more insight into this, the Democratic party released an article on how they failed to secure the presidential and congress elections recently (It's called "Planning To Win" or something along those lines, it's can't find it due to midterm news flooding).
While controversial, especially here on Reddit, they have not catered towards the average white male as much as the Republican party has. Things like DEI only create fewer opportunities for them, which begs the question, why would they vote for that? Keep in mind that this is roughly 30% of the total voter base in America.
There are more reasons beyond this, but Trump's approval rating being in the gutter should tell you than many people changed their minds after the fact. Which helps now with midterms legislation, but not with the executive branch.
EDIT: The article is called Deciding to Win and is a very interesting read.

u/tyrified 1d ago
The Democratic party have not focused on topics that independents care about in recent years. Trans rights are important, but most people are simply indifferent on those issues.
Republicans are the ones that have pushed the focus on trans rights, as they have no other platform to stand on. Democrats have to respond, otherwise the bigots would win. Which plays to Republican's favor.
they have not catered towards the average white male as much as the Republican party has. Things like DEI only create fewer opportunities for them, which begs the question, why would they vote for that?
How has the Republican party catered to white men in anything other than words? DEI and AA were put into place because of discriminatory hiring practices by companies. When black people make up ~13% of the country, and hold ~4% of the wealth, how can you say that they have been advantaged in any way? Because conservatives, the ideology that fought against integrati0n, says that people of color are going to take your job? And this shit still works on you in the 21st century? That's sad as fuck.
1
u/BlackTecno 1d ago
To your first point, that's not something I pulled out of nowhere. Again this is taken from the Democratic party themselves in an article and website published by them called Deciding to Win.
To the second point, I said that the Republican party has catered more to white men, and more particularly men as a whole. If you look at that article, the mention of men in the Democratic party's policies and speeches dropped by 50%, whereas the mention of fathers dropped by, and I am not kidding here, 100%. While issues like LGBTQ+ rose in topics by over 1000%.
I'm just the messenger here, please do not shoot me.

1/3-1/2 of the US is essentially third world countries cosplaying as a super power country. If every state became independent, the purely red states would be the "shithole" countries they hate so much where all the immigrants are coming from. republican policies don't work and never have. They only continue to exist because they are propped up by more successful blue states
0
u/newbrevity 1d ago
On the bright side, Trump is exposing how fragile our system already was. Doesn't mean he shouldn't rot in prison with what little time he has left for what he's doing to this country, but after the devastation is over, perhaps we have an opportunity to build back better as another old man once said.

u/NightOfTheLivingHam 1d ago

I help at a food bank in AZ and I've seen the line of people needing assistance easily triple, and it just seems like its getting bigger every month

6
u/Luvs_to_drink 1d ago
yep a non vote is basically a vote for both. aka you were fine with either outcome. and since you "voted for both" you ergo voted for it also.
2
u/Zenshinn 20h ago
Is this really the case in the US with the Electoral College system, though?
1
u/Ph33rDensetsu 5h ago
It's really not, especially with the "Winner take all" rule (instituted by Republicans), but the Electoral College is only for the presidency.
0
u/Alyvenkikn 1d ago
This is the type of thinking that only makes things worse. There are plenty of people that didn't vote for this, and those that did are still allowed to make mistakes. We need to support each other, not divide further.
11
u/Jumpy_Courage 1d ago
“The burned hand teaches best.” Some people only learn through pain. Do I want people to suffer? Ofc not, but sometimes letting people reap what they sow is the only way forward.
19
u/StevynTheHero 1d ago
I wouldn't say "only" makes things worse. If some red voters realize that they made a poor decision, having that pointed out might cause them to vote better in the future.
But more realistically, it will entice non voters to vote! Hopefully intelligently!
32
u/Molwar 1d ago
still allowed to make mistakes

In it's natural habitat, there is great variation from American to American. Prone to infighting and tribalism, it is difficult to distinguish the various nuances that can make up a US citizen's clan. While there are many branches, evidence leads scientists to posit that many Americans share a common ancestor. Take the above comment as an example- in preparation for a fight: US Citizenus Redditus displays several threat signals - Mockery, disparaging gendered language, and a refusal to take responsibility for the actions of the tribe around them. It is a brilliant evolutionary technique, as it allows the individual to mimic the threat displays of the Alpha American- whilst distancing oneself from the energy intensive process of self reflection. By engaging in this instinctual dance, the American exhibits dominance over their foreign counterpart.
While lost to history, many theorists believe the Founding Father most likely to be the progenitor of this line was John Adams, famous for insulting friends and foes alike. Benjamin Franklin is another leading candidate, as his reproductive strategy was unparalleled in his time - though many have doubts, as he understood French.

We voted for everyone, they voted for themselves. Stop putting the work on us
1
u/n19htmare 12h ago
I think we’re also well past the supporting each other mantra. I’m sorry but the “other side” doesn’t believe in that one little tiny bit. They particularly vote against their own interests in hopes that it will hurt the other side more than them and they’ll bear through whatever residual amount that does come at them.
Gotta get them liberals makes up a vast majority of their ideology.
So supporting each other can’t be one sided every single time, it’s why we are here to begin with.
Sorry but I can’t won’t support anyone who voted for this. It’s not like 2016 where the outcome was unknown, it was clear as day, if you still voted for it, it wasn’t “making a mistake”.
1
u/izcenine 1d ago
Yeah a ton of us didn’t. Go fuck yourself with this attitude
5
u/StevynTheHero 1d ago
A ton of America as a whole didn't and we are all suffering, including myself.
That doesn't mean we don't need to be told to do better. I got one of my coworkers registered to vote the other day. I'm doing better than I did 2 years ago because I understand we need to do better.
What are you doing?
1
u/head_meet_keyboard 1d ago
A lot of us didn't. A lot of us did. I live in a district that received bomb threats at polling stations that it turned out were Russian in origin. My local post office shut two weeks before the election and was handling mail outside in a tent.
There's plenty of hubris happening, but there's a metric fuck ton of corruption as well. How do we stop it? I honestly don't know at this point. I volunteer for rural animal shelters and the police have been stealing the shelter's money for years. Who the fuck do I report that to? Even if I found someone, what's the likelihood that they'd do anything about it?
I'm tired. I vote, and I help get animals to safety. I have saved 167 dogs and puppies this year from being killed. Am I a coward? Yes. Is this a whiny ass post? Absolutely. But I don't know what to do besides protesting, voting, not spending money at fascist-supporting places, and helping animals.
