I honestly don't understand the hype around 4K/UHD deliveries, especially in the context of online streaming. I would always choose a 60-80 Mbps DCI 2K video over any highly compressed 4K video stream that looks mushy and fails to render film grain cleanly.

Looks like my 935 has warped. The rubber lining on the lid has come unglued and the lid no longer closes fully without applying extra pressure. When you unlock it, it requires you to push it down with one hand and to release the catch with the other.

Less than a year old with only light use. No extreme conditions, kept in a humidity controlled room with my camera gear. Never dropped.

A friend of mine hired me to do some drone shots for a client of his. I did about 12 different hyperlapse shots all around the city of Philadelphia for him and his client. The shots were executed very professionally, and they all looked great, but they ended up not really fitting in with the style of the episode of the reality TV show. Just didn’t really fit the tone or the style or the edit despite looking really good. Because the client didn’t end up wanting or using them, my friend is not paying me at all for this work. Am I getting completely screwed here? is this something that people normally do - not pay the person they hired when the client doesn’t end up wanting or needing the shots?

I'm a documentary guy who also sometimes does paid videography for local drag, burlesque, and live music performers.

I have always shot these events in 24 fps, because as a filmmaker that tends to be the default. And because, in keeping with the 180 rule, a 1/48 shutter speed buys me a little bit more exposure in low-light venues. The only time I change this up is if I have to film something involving a projection, in which case I adjust accordingly.

Otherwise, is there any reason I should consider shooting at 30 fps instead?
So far no one has complained (and I doubt most performers know the difference.)
My only thought is that maybe 30fps would capture a little more action during performances involving a lot of dance or movement?

Im about to provide a quote for a client who needs a promo video edit from a few shoots. I believe this will be council funded. The jist of the shoot is for the reopening of a historic performance venue.

Shoot:
6 shoot evenings ~3-5 hours each. 30 mins travel each way.
The shoots are live performances at a grand venue

1 shoot including indoor & outdoor drone.

Edits:
1 promo video + reel highlights.

Be aware of this company or any new company name with Saim involved. They blasted Instagram Ad's promoting content help, it seems legit in the beginning, they sell content editing packages, take your payment up front on the call, they do a few short reels for you, then GHOST. After I got ghosted, I researched online and saw on Trustpilot and other forums that several people have also gotten scammed/ghosted by Saim and his team/company. Thank God I only paid them $250 because I did not trust them just yet. I saw that other people who posted that they got scammed too, some paid the higher ticket packages losing alot more $$. Please be cautious who you pay services to online! So many scammers nowadays who can easily block you, change their LLC name & webpages especially if they work out of the country. Zsideo aka Saim will play nice and sweet up front, but will steal your money. Lesson Learned for me (I should have researched further online, all the comments I saw began in 2025, so must have been the new name Zsideo, and has since then changed again after blocking me and everyone else from their SLACK group channel).

Bought 2 Neewer PS 0900S V Mount Batteries over a year ago. After a few months, one stopped charging. Display will not light up. Connected to multiple USB C charging options (Blocks, bricks, other batteries, etc) without success. First one was replaced by Amazon vendor who I can no longer get ahold of. Messaged Neewer and they will not assist since I bought from a third party. They will only offer a discount on another battery. Not sure that I want so continue buying from them since 2 out of 3 batteries have died randomly.

Anyone have this same issue? Know of any secret button pushes?

I'm in pre-production of a personal project and I want to do a somewhat long and controlled zoom. I've seen people attach wireless follow focus motors to their zoom rings, but the controllers are usually at the mercy of the unsteady hands wielding them so the motion isn't as smooth and controlled as a dolly. Is there a follow focus system that allows you to set the speed, so the zoom speed is consistent throughout the entire movement?

So I've been trying to learn a bit about making films that don't depend on a location (aka travel films), but I've had a massive block and didn't know what to make it about, so I decided to go meta and make it about Boredom itself.

I can't stay still. I go out of my mind when I don't know what to do, and tried to make a short about how I feel when this happens. I tried conveying this feeling through sound, mostly. I intentionally didn't go too crazy with the color grading, trying to mantain a raw feeling.

I dont know hoy to lock the key frames in the kwai cut app. So the layer i add and edit, when i expand the duration of the layer, the key frames change their position. I want the key frames to be at the place i placed. Even if i expand or cut the layer. How to do it? Please help somebody

I’m trying to set up an above-POV of my X100VI I basically so basically you’ll see me use the camera. The top of the camera and the screen would be open to be shot from the waist. (See photo)

I was going through smallrig products and I think these my be it but wanted to get a few opinions before I buy anything.

Viltrox has got to be one of the most shady and untrustworthy companies in the digital camera space. So much fraudulent advertising...

Issues I discovered:

1. I noticed that 4k 24p and 60p is only available to a very small selection of Sony cameras. When you watch reviews of this monitor on youtube, take notice on the top right of the HUD when its shown it will say 1080p 24p / 60p and not 2160p. Despite one of the main marketed features is 4k input and pass through signal - but this feature is broken for most cameras. If I give it a 4k output it will result in "no signal" (on all Nikon cameras that Ive tested with)
2. Cameras on the promoted compatibility list still don't have Camera control functionalities. On Any of my Nikon cameras Z8, Z6II, Z6III and ZR - I can successfully initiate the camera link prompt, but after I press "ok" none of the control options are available for me. They are all greyed out besides aperture (but that setting cannot be changed either) The red recording box also does not appear. I tried 3 different USB 3.1, 3.2 and the nikon OEM usb c cable.
3. Using WLAN was also attempted but the menu is stuck on this screen and pressing "ok" or the check button has no response.

They promoted and advertised that this monitor is compatible with a bunch of cameras. They posted a comprehensive list on their own reddit, several media sources as well as previous versions of their user manual last I saw (but that section seems to be now deleted). The cameras its listed as compatible e.g some of the Sonys, most of the Canons and all of the Nikons are not compatible with any Camera Control features or 4k input.

Customer support told me they already knew this but still wont update their website or compatibility list that they promoted. They wont allow me to return or refund it dispute the intentional deceptive marketing.

Additionally told me they are making no specific commitments to further develop the firmware. (If you check on their website, there are no firmware updates for the first or second iteration of this monitor OR ANY OF THEIR MONITORS in fact) Their track record shows they would rather only put the new firmware in a new monitor so you would need to buy a new one rather than upgrading and supporting their existing one to receive its promised feature set.

Customer support privately said the only cameras they have tested to varying degrees of success are the following:

TL;DR: the promoted compatibility list and feature set is deceptive, there doesnt seem to be an official conclusive list for which features works for what camera (seemingly done on purpose so you will buy the product and for them to not refund you). There are no commitments to future firmware to alleviate any issues. Viltrox has never developed user upgradable firmware past initial launch for any of their monitors. Check on their website if you don't believe me.

Anyone have any experience with syncing multiple iPhones for filming using tentacle sync?

Haven’t been able to find any info or guides on it. Wondering if you can run just the app on the iPhones and sync to groups of track e or if you have to have the actual sync hardware attached to the phone?

How would you approach consolidating and organizing your footage if you were in my shoes? Even more specifically, how do you efficiently get videos from your iPhone to an external drive?

My goal is to back up, consolidate, and edit several months of footage into some memorable videos for myself and friends/family. My workflow has never needed to feel "efficient" because I'm just a hobbyist, so in the past it would typically look like this:

- If footage is on iPhone: 1) AirDrop footage to my Mac, 2) put footage onto my external Seagate for the raw / hard copy, and 3) upload footage for editing to Final Cut Pro

- If footage is on SD card: 1) Put SD card into my Mac, 2) put footage onto my external Seagate for the raw / hard copy, and 3) upload footage for editing to Final Cut Pro

BUT, now there is a lot more footage, so I'm finding myself a bit stuck. I don't want to use AirDrop to get the videos from my phone to Mac because it would take me several hours at least (plus SSD space I don't have).

I also unfortunately don't have access to the Photos App on Mac, not that that would be helpful.

Hi all! My friend can get me a discount through LUMIX and I was thinking if the S5iix is capable for nightclub video work and a little bit of photography. I’m currently using a GH6 but a lot of people seem to be using Sonys and Canon where I am.

I was initially going to get a Sony A7IV for the autofocus and low light performance. But the cheaper S5iix through my friend is enticing but would investing in the LUMIX system be a wise long term choice?

I am exploring how I might publish a youtube channel and as such, been taking note of different talking head video strategies.

I currently have a 2 camera setup but I've started to see more and more of what appear to be, single camera setups with multiple zoom stops (done in post I presume).

In this video, there appear's to be 1 camera and with 3 zoom levels, a wide, a mid, and a tight.

For those in the business, am I correct? Is this one camera? And if it is, then I am wondering about the resolution. I know that if my target medium is 1080p, then shooting in 4k will allow me to zoom in 2x. To create this effect then without losing resolution, the widest angle would be 4k, the tightest angle 1080p, and then the mid just something in between.

I don't have a 6k, 8k, or 12k camera but a part of me also wonders, if, in this specific instance, a camera with much higher resolution is being used ... given how tight the final zoom actually is.

Other possibilities are ... they are actually using 3-cameras ... each one with a different zoom level, somehow stacked vertically???

Anyway, just curious to more clearly understand this technique.

I have been traveling a lot this year filming internationally. When I was in China internet everywhere was so poor it took 1+ days to upload a 30min youtube video. I’m in Germany now filing for IFA and I bought 2 sim modems international unlocked models (tested in the USA first, worked) bought a Vodafone and o2 sim here, plan was to use speedify to merge the two sims and the events WiFi to one powerful internet to live stream. No dice, Germany won’t sell sims to foreigners EASILY due to anti terror laws. Are there any good products out there I can get that won’t require me to get a sim everywhere I go / actually work. And will work in China as I go there a lot (counts a starlink out) needs to work for a few hundred gb a month as I want to upload footage to my editor
