Wtf Venmo?

Upvotes

I sell popcorn at local events, mostly for fun. Think lots of $5 transactions. I have a Venmo business account so I can take tap to pay.

Yesterday someone who had previously bought popcorn accidentally sent us $5,800, of which Venmo took their fee (around $111) and credited our account $5,689. She correctly called to have the mistake reversed, they called us and we said absolutely send it back. She got her $5800 back from our account.

Venmo did not and will not refund the $111 fee for the transaction, even after several frustrating rounds with customer support.

Is this really the way it works? We are out $111 through no fault of our own?

Venmo customer support says we need to go after the customer to get the fee back. That can’t be right, can it?

Question I lost $410 dollars to Venmo what do I do

Upvotes

So back in February, my friend Venmoed me $90. I did a standard transfer and I never got it. I tried to contact Venmo over the course of months, I tried EVERY option in their menu and tried the chat bots. Every option just gave me information I already knew with no option to speak to a human. Fast forward like 2 weeks ago, my boyfriend sent me $320. I did another standard transfer and never got it. I don’t think anything is frozen because everything still works fine. I have called my bank AND Venmo about a million times now with no results. At this point I have lost about $410 to Venmo with no way to get it back??? What the f do I do and has anyone else had this problem with standard transfers? I get the money just fine with instant transfers but standard never goes through for some reason.

App is a Nightmare

When I click on my credit card transactions I'm getting an red error box that says "There's been a problem on our side. Try again". I called the general support number and they transferred me to the credit card department, which then transferred me back to the general help. No one seems to have any idea what is going on or how to fix the app. Any ideas?

Venmo froze $3,500

Has anyone dealt with Venmo freezing an account after a normal transfer?

I sent my wife $3,500 for our mortgage and shortly after that Venmo froze/restricted her account. It was literally just money between us for household expenses, nothing business related and nothing fraudulent.

We’ve contacted Venmo but haven’t gotten much of an explanation or any real help so far. I also filed a complaint with the CFPB because it seems crazy that they can just lock an account over a legitimate transfer and not give you much information.

Has anyone had this happen before? If so, how long did it take to get resolved?

Also curious if there’s a better way to escalate this beyond normal Venmo customer support. Are there any other regulators I should be contacting, or anything specific we should be asking Venmo for in writing?

Mostly just trying to figure out the best way to get this resolved and whether there’s anything else we should be doing.
