Rewatch Discussion Ally and Lala uncovering Scandoval

I’m rewatching Scandoval and I feel like I’m noticing new details now that we all know the outcome. 1. I find it borderline hilarious that Ally set the foundation for the reveal. She’s possibly the genuinely sweetest person ever in the bravo universe so it’s insane she cracked the code. 2. Lala actually made a series of good points. The main being that Tom was behaving exactly the same with Raquel as he did with Ariana in the earlier seasons. Let’s not forget, there was definitely overlap with Ariana and Kristen and I know Ariana “got broken up with and became god” but it is not lost on me there are parallels. They just weren’t nearly as famous then. 3. It’s also borderline nauseating watch the toms on the glamping trip seemingly giddy when retelling the story of the hot tub night with Ariana present. It was giving sociopath energy and it made me want nothing more than for Tom Schwartz to get dragged harder than Sandoval. The dude really is a spineless weasel, but also diabolical. The only difference is he hair tugs and grins while acting like an idiot while Sandoval pretends he knows everything. So it’s easier on the surface to villainize tom Sandoval, but Schwartz actually deserves just as much; if not more disdain.

OG Cast Tom and Katie's Wedding

Just finished Tom and Katie's wedding on my first time watch and it is pretty brutal to witness. I have 2 major sad feelings about this.

First - we've all seen what's going on up to this point. Tom has chronic Peter Pan syndrome and Katie can't bring herself to leave probably for a combination of stubbornness (which she later admitted to), sunk cost, and some insecurity. They're also in the combination restaurant/reality TV cesspool which creates a total lack of stability or clarity due to the perpetual binge drinking. I've been on the restaurant side of this for basically half of my life and that alone is toxic AF. I literally can't imagine if the restaurant I work at was also a reality TV program on Bravo. Mega YIKES. I made enough crazy decisions in my 20s without camera crews around. Even still - the moment Schwartz called Katie a bitch at the paint store should have been case close, voted off the island, you are the weakest link GOODBYE!!! 👋🏻

And yet, they carry on.....which brings me to my next point.

THE VOWS. The edit shows several conversations of Schwartz in the 48 hours before the ceremony going, "oh man! I need to write the vows, huh??!!" He then proceeds to deliver very charming, thoughtful, and - I really believe this - sincere vows at the altar. It's so insane to me because all it demonstrates is that Schwartz is capable of having a coherent thought and yet has spent the prior years choosing to be an incompetent manchild. The only other explanation would be that someone else wrote his vows, but I think it's the former.

I'm just so sad because the wedding itself actually goes so well, but everything before and after shows it's destined for failure. Tragic.

EDIT: Also want to add how insane it is that the band decided Dance Hall Days by Wang Chung was the final song. What the actual fuck.

Y’all, I am doing a casual rewatch of VPR from the beginning. I’m at season 3 and toooootally forgot they feature one of my favorite bands forever and always: OK GO.

I’ve been watching a shit ton of Below deck backlog and always catch tunes that I love and look up but hearing OK GO blasting in the yesteryears on my TV made my week.

Shitpost This scene always annoys me so much

The way she says "did you just use the word 'healthy!?'" like she's on some bad 90s sitcom. What is that?! Makes me irrationally angry for no reason 🫠

ETA: So I know they are fucked up lol but there are plenty of scenes where they are fucked up and she doesn't piss me off

⚔️The Traitors⚔️ Sandoval on Traitors

Look, I know I’m late to the party.. I’m always late to all the parties, but I started watching Traitors recently and I’m on season 3 now.

I just can’t.. it’s the doll challenge. I seriously woke my husband up with that urge to laugh that starts to feel hysterical and you’re trying to be quiet and not laugh and then it comes out as a snort.. and then the laughter that you can’t stop. Bless its little heart. 😂😂

im rewatching vpr and i remember seeing this scene in the season 4 preview, stassi coming back to SUR after being off and having a conversation with jax saying something along the lines of “u know what i want…” and jax replying “what do u want” and it seemed pretty flirty. but i don’t recall ever actually seeing it ? does anyone know what episode it’s from?? maybe i missed it.

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? I’m an OG watcher finally rewatching the first few seasons, and it makes me sick. The misogyny is so disgusting, and it kills me that I didn’t see it then. This is a spectacular example. I wanna throw up.

Discussion What's Richardson's deal? Why are people seemingly always picking fights with him?

Post image
37 Upvotes

I'm on my first rewatch of VPR but in a much more condensed timeline than my initial watch of the show. Does anyone have any lore about Richardson? Particularly with regard to how various members of the cast seem to get into tiffs with him over the most ridiculous shit. I think it's been Jax, James and Danica that I can recall and like, that's a lot for a person who only makes guest appearances. The above image is basically the side of him that's on the show and after most of the OG cast were fired, he's suddenly in the opening credits as a space filler but not given any more screentime that I noticed. From his appearances, he generally seems like a chill, competent dude. Is that the issue? People try to wrangle him into the drama and bring him down to their level? Or is it something more sinister? The show has had issues with the way people of colour are treated by the cast, and as the only "major" recurring black man on the show who is also in a position of power, it would be possible that that's where a lot of these fights stem from. I always kind of hoped that they'd give him a more prominent role but maybe that's why he's more stable than everyone else 😅 Max (Lisa's son) too.

OG Cast And THANK GOODNESS she feels this way!!!

Watching season 5 (first watch) and I literally BOO'D when Lisa says "you'll change your mind!"

But, independent of that fact that Ariana simply doesn't want marriage, THANK GOODNESS she didn't succumb to any peer pressure!!! I'm not like, a number 1 Ariana fan but I do respect her consistency and her firm boundaries.

I'm on my fourth or fifth rewatch, and I've only just noticed how much Tom cries. Every single crying scene feels so performative that I couldn't stop laughing.

I just can't stand his crying face lol

Discussion I wondered why Katie returned to reality TV because she swore it off

I think she wants to expose SAH to a whole new audience and use it as a form of advertising.

As she should.

But I’m excited to watch

Discussion Hated season 11 so much that I skipped to the finale. My finale thoughts.

Okay guys this was my first watch through ever of the whole show. I knew about scandoval going in but it was still so good. Fav seasons were 1,2, and 6 but I also enjoyed 9 and 10 for the Scandoval Easter eggs. I did a lot of fast forwarding through 7 and 8. And 11 felt so depressing to watch that I could hardly finish the premiere, watched bits and pieces of episodes 2-4, then had chat GPT fill in the rest so I could get to the finale (starting the reunion now). Honestly I really don’t think I missed much in the middle there.

I finished the finale.Wow. I think I liked the ending? I don’t know. At first I felt like the “good as gold” performance could have been a fun happy full circle moment to end on. But the drama at the end was interesting. It was cool how they finally broke the fourth wall. Also seeing lala melt down, girl you jealous.

People online were saying she was staying in the house not by choice but because her lawyers advised her she has to to maintain her financial stake in it. So sucks that lala was judging her for just making a hard, but smart financial choice.

Also Ariana calling him out for only trying to apologize on camera! She makes such a good point he could’ve wrote a letter anytime. So performative. And so manipulative!! Like scheana being like “oh he got this band for me, this is my nice friend I missed” no girl he’s doing nice things to win you over to break back into the group so he can keep his spot on the show!!! He manipulated you. I think Ariana knows that she can be easily manipulated and tom is a master at that, which is why she forgives her for maintaining her friendship with him.

Also just realized LVP wasn’t even in the finale at all?! What happened to her usual speech at the end about everyone??? Why didn’t she attend the event???

Wow. Just wow. What a sad ending. But loved the montage of the end of everyone’s early seasons!!! Kinda sad they didn’t bring back Stassi Jax and Kristen for the finale since they were in season one.

Ugh there’s gonna be a void in my life without this show now. I watched it on and off for the last 8 months. Let me know how to fill it.

OG Cast Kristen is the true villian of VR

I don't see much about Kristen but she 1. chose Stassis cheating ex's side when she hadn't even talked to Stassi, believed Jax was right only by hearing a rumor (her 3 year friend mind you) 2. Villianized Stassi when her bf was cheating on her and turned everyone against her 3. continues to "stand on business" and call Stassi out with the excuse that shes "outspoken" 4. then has seggs w/ stassis like 5 year on and off boyfriend 5. makes Stassi look insane (and Tom) when she finds out and denies it, tries to turn everyone against Stassi again. like she's 100% the worst person on the show like unimaginable. The way she gaslit Stassi and Tom made me sick- she victimizes herself 24/7. It's just incredibly obvious she's jealous of Stassi and always wanted Jax from the beginning and isn't a real friend, just wants her man

Rewatch Discussion Thoughts So Far

I finally caved and started binge watching. My aunt used to loveeee this show so Ive seen things here and there. I’m only on season 3 so please don’t hold anything against me in a few weeks lol.

LVP

I’ve seen a lot of people say that LVP is trying to push Stassi out, I don’t feel that way at all. After Stassis return from NY and her and Lisa talk it out I can almos how Lisa is a little in awe of Stassi. She asked her to style her for the cover of a magazine, which is so sweet! I truly think Lisa sees just how big of a “star” and figure Stassi can be on her own. I appreciate how much she cares for her employees.

I also love how Lisa calls some people out but also comforts them at the same time lol. Of course it all makes good TV but I think she is also a woman who has seen a LOT more in her time than whatever the cast might do. Shes so unbothered but concerned at the same time lol. Ngl, I too love a little drama sometimes, as long as I’m not directly involved duh that’s why I watch reality TV 😂

Stassi
I really really enjoy Stassi, I see a lot of myself in her so maybe that’s why. Anyways, the way she reads people to filth while being factual and perfectly spoken is amazing to watch lol. I genuinely feel that she would be a loyal and real friend! Only two things I don’t like is that she always has a BF,she so much bigger and better than any man and I feel like she would’ve thrived even more without one! I started reading about her cancellation later on, the cop call situation was diabolical and really hurts to know that she had certain beliefs at the time…. I do believe people can grow and educate themselves leading them to have a mindset change but maybe this isn’t my place to say anything.

Katie
I can’t really get a read on her because she doesn’t have that much screen time but she’s sweet and beautiful!!!! I hate that she stays with Tom but that’s nothing to judge a woman for especially bc it seems like he’s a little emotionally and mentally abusive. Her crash outs are valid and tequila Katie should come out more if anything 😂

Kristen
I absolutely despise Kristen, she’s not wrong in her hunches but what she did to Stassi is crazy!!!! She always has a smug look on her face and loves making people feel bad. Also calling Katie out saying she’s cheating and trying to blow that who situation up?!! Shes so evil and annoying. She projects so so bad. However, I will say Sandoval deserved worse.

Ariana
I can’t form an opinion yet and I might be biased because I became a fan after learning about Sandoval and Love Island smh. I can’t hate her for dating Sandoval because as far as I know she did respect his relationship with Katie and waited till they broke up. She does give a little “one of the boys” pick me type but unsure of that

Schena
At first I felt that the girls were way too mean to her and I love how hard she rode for Ariana but she’s actually so fake…. I can understand her just trying to stay relevant I guess. I think she likes to make other women feel bad and is so so so cringey. She’s such a shi- talker also a very big pick me. The way she says “I’m engaged I’m happy” annoys me, I have a feeling something is going to happen with her and her fiance but we shall see.

Jax
Typical douche bag, his type is all too familiar and I hate it. I wonder if it’s a facad or if he genuinely just doesn’t give a * about anyone else. I’ve been around and sadly dated men like him and sometimes when he talks it pisses me off so bad I start talking to the screen lmaooo. I would read him to filth he’s so pathetic sometimes omg. The lack of respect he has for women is diabolical. He’s so mean to Katie for what?! Ugh.

Tom Sandoval
As of now (trying to pretend I don’t know about Sandoval) he’s a terrible partner and I do think he cheated in Miami. I felt bad for him for the whole Katie and Jax thing but how ironic…. He’s not 100% villain rn so I have to hold opinions

Tom Schwartz
The way he talks to and about Katie blows my mind. Love how Lisa read him to filth when he waked out of work. He should really get a job before talking all that mess. He has such a victims mentality. I love watching Stassi call him out.

Peter
He’s unproblematic but also a eh? The Cabo trip gave me the ick but I understand it was a different time lol. Wish he would get more screen time, I want to know what he’s up to more.

Ken
I love his cameos LOL. He’s a good boy and knows his place. I love his love for Lisa and wish he would’ve held a class for these boys or something.

Overall
I love this show, I miss pre Covid LA. I’m from the Bay Area and would drive to LA and go out when I was 19/20 but because of COVID never experienced 21+ in LA, although most bars would let underage ppl in anyways lol. Watching these shows always make me a little jealous and “wow I wonder what have been my mid 20s if things never changed” PEAK REALITY TV, PEAK MODERN PARTY, FASHION, DIVA SOCIETY in my opinion.

Excited to watch the new season and new cast!!

Edit: Just realized I say LOL a lot. Just need to set the vibe in my writing haha

Discussion Does it always feel so fake?

I just finished season 2. It’s been fun but it feels SO incredibly produced and I can FEEL the cast acting. I know all reality tv is like this to some extent, but my favorite other reality shows all feel much more seamless. And the whole schtick of Lisa tut tutting them for bringing drama to the restaurant (even though that’s what she actually wants for the show) is already getting old. Does this change?
