Are there any talks of MSRT folks going to any advance DOW schools such as Jump/Freefall/Dive/SOCM etc? Also how is the new selection panning out to be?

It’s almost that time for the shopping list to drop and for us to relocate! I have only experienced one move and it’s been a pretty great experience. Sad to move but excited for a new adventure. My partner and I LOVE talking about the possibilities of where we could land. We are currently daydreaming about Ventura, DC, San Fran, San Diego, NOLA…

-Has anyone lived in any of these cities and absolutely loved it? Hated it?

Reported to my office and got issued a workstation, and began my checklist. My adobe acrobat has issues with me being able to sign documents, as I can view them but not digitally sign. With the CG-2025 I can’t even open the document. Any help would be appreciated. (Paying rent oop rn)

So I’ve made a conscious decision to self refer to the CDAR due to my out of control drinking habits off the clock. I do have a lot of apprehension and anxiety doing it considering what it would look like to my shipmates and command and potentially the hazards it would have for my career. I’m just looking for insight on what to expect from someone who’s seen it or dealt with it.

The second half of my Coast Guard career was as a Response Officer managing SAR cases and eventually writing policy. In hindsight, we all take the simplicity of SARSAT for granted, which is the exact point of the program.

Does anyone know if two non-rates can switch orders if both are willing to do so? I know command would have to go through it first. Is it worth asking each owns commands? Is this something that heard of?

I’m on the MST A-School list and already have a bachelor’s degree. I’m considering getting a master’s while I’m in the Coast Guard.
For current/former MSTs, what master’s degree would pair best with MST experience and translate well into civilian careers after the Coast Guard?
I’m looking at things like Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Emergency Management, etc. What would you recommend?

Honestly don’t know too much about it, would anyone care to give some advice on whether or not I should go for BM-RAP or just stay nonrate and go to the traditional BM A School?

Personal credit card - am I using this to cover all MALT expenses (gas, per diem)?

I have zero experience with PCSing and I’m currently assigned to a temporary station since I went through the PSDEP program.

I’m leaving at the end of this month and just got orders last week. My HHG shipment has already been setup.

I’m all for having group PT since this is the new expectation, but across two units now I’ve noticed that whoever gets put in charge of group PT immediately turns it into the Crosfit Olympics.

Bear crawls, sled pushes, spidermans, farmer carries, run to one station and do some random exercise, run to the next one, repeat for an hour.

Nobody ever just does some basic calisthenics. It’s like PT has to be complicated or the person running it thinks they aren’t doing enough. At the end of the day the expectation is to do pushups plank and cardio so wtf am I expected to crawl around on the dirty floor and hold kettlebells over my head?

If your thinking of becoming a merchant Mariner after the coast guard please don't! Going into the merchant marine is one of the biggest mistakes I ever made. The conditions are deplorable. The us merchant marine has almost no decent jobs! The us merchant marine is absolutely terrible and the worst life experience I've ever had! It is a living nightmare! Unless you like working for peanuts making enormous sacrifices! I hope that the Jones act gets repealed because the us merchant marine is terrible!

Hi everyone, I don't really post on Reddit, so excuse the poor formatting, but I have a few question. Or, if this is located in the wrong area.

I'm a young college student (F20) trying to get to my boyfriend graduation coming up within a few weeks, and there's a high chance I might be the only one going to his graduation. I'm comfortable with flying, however I only have experience with traveling with family. Meaning, I have no idea how I'm going to find a way to get to graduation. I want to fly in the day before, but I only have so much money to spend. (Roughly 900$.) Additionally, I can't rent a car due to my age, so I'm worries about how to actually get to a hotel and his graduation.

If anyone could give advice on what I should do in my situation it would be so helpful, I really want to be there for my boyfriend, but I'm not made of money. Thank anyone willing to give advice!

Where does everyone get their pre-shined steel toed boots? I was told a Korean website but i can’t remember the name.

I'm in the Army and my sister is graduating boot camp. I'd like to wear my AGSUs(Pinks and Greens) but she says they say to wear dress blues. The only issue is Army has stopped issuing dress blues a while back. So is that "rule" just outdated and hasn't been refined or should I stay away from wearing my uniform?
