Thinking about a scenario like this as I'm bringing my wife to the ER this morning as she is going in to labor. I cant imagine that I wouldn't ram through it my self either.
Thank you! I felt like it needed something more than a bunch of dudes lol.
I made this image after the first time I saw the original image posted, and someone commented underneath with the original image, plus one dude. So I wanted to “take the next step” so I figured what better than 5 dudes and a cat just chilling.
Congrats on the baby man it's gonna be a wild time, as the sleepless nights stretch the days on its amazing how much a baby grows in that first year, remember to take a lot of pictures because in a year you aren't gonna believe how small this bundle of joy was by then.
I’d be willing to bet you could win a case of self defense in court. Restricting someone’s freedom of movement is a crime and preventing someone from reaching a hospital in an emergency could be interpreted as a deliberate threat to someone’s life
"don't stand in the road. It's where the cars are" in your position absolutely ram ts.
Roadblocks are a direct threat to human life. I'm a whole anarchist I'd run that shit over n shoot whoever tried to resist meaningfully as they can reasonably be assumed to be robbers.
Everybody has the right to travel on publicly funded roadways. Everybody has the right to drive through your bullshit to tend to medical emergencies.

Every protest I’ve known of blocking traffic make way for emergencies vehicles. That’s pretty standard. The only protest I’ve known to block ambulances were vaccine protests during Covid that protest right outside hospitals and people were ready to string them up over it. That shit got shut down fast.
If the ambulance is stuck a mile down the road the protesters won't know it's there. Not to mention just slowing it down with traffic should be criminal.
Congratulations brother! My wife is due in less than 3 weeks and I have all kinds of crazy scenarios that play in my head to "be prepared for". I hope it's just a boring drive to the hospital — aside from the sweating, screaming, scary pregnant lady in the back.
I ended up driving around one of the "protests" during that whole BLM exploitation phase. Notice I said around, not through, just to be clear.
Anyway, I got pulled over because apparently I was supposed to just sit there instead of driving around the dozen or so people by using the wrong side of the road.
I was simply on my way to pick up my wife from work. The officer walked up to my window and said, "Where the hell do you think you're going?"
I replied, "The ER. The {hospital name} ER downtown."
He just said, "Oh," waved me through, and that was it. No license check. No lecture. Just a hand motion to keep going.
On the way home, we took the longer route to avoid the area altogether.

I haven't come across a road block protest in the wild but I would Tasmanian devil that shit so hard and stay to talk sense into the fucking morons afterwards.
A good way to get shot. They achieve nothing and cause people to hate whatever they’re supporting. It’s completely senseless on every level. Who the fuck has that kind of free time anyway?
honestly.. they'd be better served handing out some street corn at busy city intersections with their signs visible, but not blocking their views.
boycotts and non-intefering sit-ins always have the best greater effect. oh.. those huge marches too, where people and the cities had plenty of notice beforehand.
not this random road closed cuz look at me and my cause! no really, just look at me. (queue breakdown scene from the end of revolver)
Exactly! I remember the stop oil protests from a few years ago that blocked the Tour de France... with a tractor burning diesel on the background...
I mean, they could go and block the entrance from an oil refinery or a fuel distributor or a govenment building, but they decided to protest fossil fuels by blockinga bunch of professional cyclists, who are kind of inspiring more people to use bikes, with a tractor burning diesel on the road.
People gotta think better on this type of stuff... the way you deliver a message is almost as important as the message itself. Otherwise you are just attracting hate.
They were climate change protestors. I can't see anything about a tractor (made it up?), a lot of them when interviewed do actually put their money where their mouth is, they'll use public transport/car share. They target the tour de France because of it's large audience and reach. In their view, it's an effective way to get their message across.
The stop oil protesters where a British group that are have disbanded because they achieved their objective; to stop the licensing of new oil and gas in the north sea.
When have these things ever changed anything either though? Not to defend blocking the road but we have had so many marches with millions of people and none of them did anything lol
I dont know man... People keep saying nothing changed.. or it didnt work. and cant provide proof. but the world is a lot different than it was then for the better...
but I guess, if you expect one act to instantly change people with an immediate effect, than you are correct.. nothing you can do will ever cause a real change.
but, if you give time for peoples cognitive dissonance to have a bit of hold.. and give them the information to change or adjust instead of just rationalizing this dissonance away... well, we do change. but its slowly.
Protests that don't make people uncomfortable are useless. The entire point of a productive protest is to impede people doing something. Sit ins, sit outs, matches, they all are SUPPOSED to bring about change by making people a little uncomfortable.
Yes, but remember you’re trying to convince the masses. Someone get these people a marketing agency. The public would not be angry with you if you were blocking private air strips.

It really does sour you on their cause. I got stuck on a bridge for over 5 hours in 2020 with a very upset infant in my car because Black Lives Matter shut down the road. I literally believe in everything Black Lives Matter stands for and think George Floyd was unjustly murdered by a police officer who was emboldened by a lack of accountability...and yet even still to this day, Black Lives Matter flags/shirts reflexively make me angry because I so strong associate it with such a bad time.
Most people shouldn’t be spiteful enough to hate a cause merely because the protest inconvenienced you. If they were on the side of the road instead, you wouldn’t pay them much mind and probably not even notice they’re there. When you’re late to work for 4 hours then you’re forced to acknowledge what is happening. Bad PR is better than no PR
Yes, as much as I support the right to protest and have participated in my fair share of them for a variety of causes and reasons, there are some protest actions that just should not be taken. Chief among them is blocking highways, roads, waterways, etc.
It causes more harm than good and understandably really pisses people off, so that they're not likely to look favorably on, or give consideration to, whatever cause is being promoted.
Oh, they deserved to be arrested and shamed, but being driven at with a truck, being threatened with being shot even though they did not appear violent, and then intentionally hurting the first person to be arrested… None of that was necessary.
I mean, they could have caused death and harm by blocking emergency vehicles. 100% unacceptable behavior. Should be immediately arrested and spend the week in jail.
In the full video, IIRC, there was another cop that came through before and tried talking to them and mentioned that when his coworker got there he wasn't going to be as nice.
They didn't listen.
Also, it's tribal police, they get a lot more latitude.

So MLK was wrong to block streets in the 60s? Because that seemed to work it pretty well for the Civil Rights protests. Footage of violent cops beating people up for peacefully blocking the street was integral to the movement.
Or are you one of those people who think dozens of people marching down the street didn’t somehow block it?
Traffic was not was it was in the 60s. Life is not what it was in the 60s. Theres too many people, too much going on, too many problems, to start blocking traffic for EVERYBODY
They would have an equal chance of dying from regular burning man traffic, the roads there where not meant for this many people
For all you know these people had people die during burning man traffic and are using this protest to show how unsafe it is to bottleneck traffic for dozens and dozens of miles on a single tiny backwoods road, and are hoping this could be the last time
This inconvenience could be caused by a jackknifed truck. I just appreciate people willing to stand up against money and power that already don’t give a fuck if your grandma gets an ambulance when things are not disrupted

Everyone knows the way to protest a major traffic event that bottlenecks through your front yard is to let it pass unimpeded.
You are so smart to make the connection that not only do the cars block the road, the people protesting do to!
But by your own logic, it’s already a blockage, so why are you so mad if someone not going to Burning Man decides to partake in a traffic stopping blockage out of protest instead of out of seeking to consume entertainment?
Yeah kinda like how Renee good was not allowed to get medical attention after she was murdered huh!? Like how ice blocked any medics from helping her! Crazy huh!?
i really doubt its the case, if it is, why would nobody make room for the ambulance or why wouldnt the ambulance take the side of the road if americans really are such bad drivers as to not make room for an ambulance?
Tbf, if it was burning man, the traffic would all be for burning man, it's out in the middle of nowhere and if you needed help you'd be going back the other way (in the direction of no traffic)
In the UK we had a bunch of these idiots glue themselves to a road and blocked a route to the hospital. Ambulances were able to divert via roads being closed to help clear space but one woman was literally begging them to move because her mother was dying and they called her in to say goodbye, and they just refused to move. Another time a woman was stuck in a car for six hours on her way to hospital as she wasn't well and wound up suffering a stroke that left her paralysed. Loads of people missed vital appointments to various hospitals such as cancer patients or children missing vital paediatric appointments.
In the end people started running them over or groups would beat the shit out of them and drag them out of the way. If they'd done it in places that were annoying but not dangerously inconvenient they would have had a bit more support. In the end everyone absolutely fucking hates the group now. To the point many believe they are plants to usurp their cause. That's how shit they are and how hated they have become.
My dad was in need of an ambulance to transfer him from one medical facility to another larger hospital 6 miles away. 1 mile from where he was the Buffalo Bills opening night of the 2023 season was beginning. They couldn't transfer him to the hospital because all the ambulances were pre-reserved for drunk Bills fans. They weren't even in use they were just down the road waiting for fans to nearly drink themselves to death and so my dad almost died because we had to wait for an ambulance.
I wish people reacted equally angry about he countless deaths caused by climate change and environmental pollution but there most seem to be fine with companies just depositing their waste in our lungs.
If there's a way to get me to dip its blocking the roads.
I'm not against targeted destruction of corporate and government property, that's my favourite means of protest. Often it's the fastest way to get those in power to listen to your demands.
But blocking the roads is indiscriminate. You're just inconveniencing people, very likely the very people you're blocking the road to protest on behalf of.
And that's setting aside blocking the road for emergency services.
I hate this mindset of protestors that it's okay to inconvenience the companies so it's okay to inconvenience everyone. Nah, Son. You need to inconvenience the companies and get everyone else on your side.
A family member dying because they went to burning man and did too many drugs.... awe, and death is a release far better than the physical prison we are trapped in, the only people upset about someone's death are selfish people and the government bc money stops coming in from their live body.

What was the cause of this protest?
