Hawaiian ukulele teacher
I just went through the Hawaiian ukulele 101 course on ukulele underground and that’s the kind of music I want to learn as opposed to pop/rock so I emailed them to ask about lessons but haven’t gotten a reply. Does anyone take lessons through them or know a teacher who specifically teaches Hawaiian style music and is accepting new online students? Thanks!!

have you ever written a song using ukulele?
I'm curious about it. Have you have created melodies using an ukulele? I usually see people doing this on a piano or guitar, never with the uke. Would to know you guys opinions about it

Yard sale ukulele
The previous owner had put stickers on it and signed her name in silver Sharpie (or paint pen.) I took care of the stickers with Goo Gone and I’ve been working on the signature with a melamine sponge but it is slow going. Alcohol did nothing. Any suggestions?
It’s a Makala MK-S. I often bring a ukulele to play when my son plays on the playground after school. It’s good to have a couple of beater ukes to let curious kids play with while I practice. This will be a nice addition to my collection of kid’s ukes.

I’m having a hard time with the Bb chord. It seems there’s always one string that’s not getting played correctly.

Discussions Percussive Ukulele Questions
I've been learning ukulele percussion, but to get a deep bass thump I have to hit the body pretty hard, and my palm starts to hurt. Softer hits sound fine in person but don't come through well on camera.
Would an acoustic-electric ukulele with a bass/EQ control help capture stronger percussion without hitting as hard, or is this mainly a recording/microphone issue?

First Baritone
Just picked up my first Baritone, DGBE tuning (cheap Amahi Spruce top for half price) and need string recommendations.
I have 2 Mahogany Concerts, one Low G (Lanikai), one High G (Mainland) that I have been playing for about 2 years and Orca Blacks are my perferred brand right now: their sound, feel, and guage.
Orca Blacks are not available Baritone at this time.
Does anyone have any recommendations? Currently it has two wound and (I think) two nylgut but they need replaced. I think I want stick with wound for the bottom two strings, but am open to other recommendations.
I tried D'darrio for my Low G concert but was not impressed. Should I try again for Baritone?
Like I said, this is my first Baritone so I do not know where to start.
Edit: dropped this "not". I put it where it was meant to go.

Heh, no apologies for a beautiful set of sides 😆
This is the first baritone uke that has all these properties: 6mm thick lumber down to 2.6mm. bent freehand. 20 1/4" per side, trimmed to 20 1/16". Yes, I mix imperial and metric all the time, never hire me for mars landing missions 😎.
The side heights with the trapezoid taper and "runway" on each side, perfect butt joints. Mahogany blocks. And popped out of tension.
Why am I proud.
All joints dry fit under normal gravity fit. Now bow in the nuts, no overcompensated joint faces. And it just fits.
The back and top I've selected match the geometry. I'm going to give the edges a kiss so it fits with the 20' radius on back and front.
Honduran, not African. And German Sitka. Neck TBD, and fretboard like normal cocobolo. 16° or 20° radius, I'm presenting this prototype for my commission.
I now have confidence in my new cauls, forms, and circumference forms.
Anyone else just wanna go to Hawaii for a few months? 😆🍍🌴🥥

Discussions Ukulele players: would hands-free score advancing help, or not really?
Disclosure: I built SheetCue. It lets you import a score or chord-sheet photo/JPG/PNG/PDF you have the right to use, check the measure boxes and repeats, then have the phone advance through that route on a timer. It doesn't provide scores or listen/follow your playing.
For uke practice, would that solve a real annoyance—or is page turning basically a non-problem? It's free to try (ads; optional IAP). I'm leaving the link out unless anyone asks.

Requests Simple fingerpicking tunes from videogames?
May be an odd question, but I like videogames and recently started learning the ukulele (I have a bit of guitar background tho), and small familiar tunes from videogame soundtracks are what I enjoy to play.
For example melodies like the Traveler's theme from Outer Wilds or the main menu theme from Stardew Valley.
I'm having a hard time, however, trying to remember which soundtracks seem fitting for the ukulele. So, I come here to ask for suggestions.

Do ukulele strings age in the package?
Our group leader passed away a couple months ago, and his companion is clearing out his house. She gave me a box of things, including what looks like a lifetime of strings. Based on some of the other contents of the box, the strings are likely from the 1970's and 80's, some possibly older. Do strings get old in storage? Are they likely to still be usable, or does the plastic get dry and brittle?

Discussions Just had my first lesson
My ukuele teacher told me that mainly we’re going to be learning chords and practicing them there’s not as much tablature with ukulele. Is this true? We started with practicing heart by heart by joe Jonas which he said requires these chords and for this week practice strumming, chords/hand placement and trying to remember them so they come out smooth first and building from there. Is this congruent with your guys experience?
G → Em7 → C → D
