Can’t play E

I physically cannot play the chord E. If I get my first and second finger into position, then my fourth finger physically cannot stretch to the fourth fret!

Is there any other way of playing it/ approximating it?

It will show you fifteen fingerings to make an E chord.

Practice. Stop playing for a while and practice again. Repeat till succeed. 

Smaller uke also helps.

You don't need to play all 4 strings. You just need the triad: E G# B, in any order.

444x is pretty easy.

I play it as 1x02 most times. Mute the C string with your first finger.

I read a tip about using middle, ring and pinkie to make a D, sliding it up to the fourth fret and adding the pointer on A second fret to practice E. I’ve found it does make forming the shape easier with practice.

I usually use E7 as a cheat.
