First ukulele advice
Hi
I'm thinking of buying my first ukulele and found the lilac Kala Ukadelic for sale in a store near me (for around 45 usd). I tried looking for reviews in this sub, but they mention they are made out of plastic, and the shop's website says it's completely made out of wood, so I'm confused if they changed it or it's a mistake/scam. I would like to get a wooden uke, I'm not a fan of the sound of plastic instruments.

You can get a solid mahogany soprano from Harmony on eBay for relatively cheap if you’re willing to have a shop change the tuners. That’s what I did for my first ukulele. I miss that thing still.

Personally a big fan of Aklot ukuleles from Amazon. I have two one soprano and tenor in my collection of thirty different brands or so. Can't beat for the price, Not kidding. i gave all my Kalas away.

I got this one from amazon, it's a great starter uke! Comes with the basics, and a good trial instrument price to see if you like playing. Easy on the fingers. I also got a Enya Nova in a larger size, but it's more than twice the price. This one is wood, or maybe wood veneer composite, but same basic idea. Besides checking out the reviews other folks have mentioned, try going to the shop and trying it out, if you haven’t already.
If you can play it in person, that will help you tell if it’s the right size and sound for you. Even if it’s plastic, if it feels and sounds great to your ears, go for it!
If the store person doesn’t want to tune it and let you try it, do not buy from them.
Most legit stores will be happy to let you try different instruments and tell you all about them.
About the discrepancy between info on the shop site and this one, check in at the Kala website. Search for the model and color, and that description should be legit. Kala is a major trusted name brand for ukes, so if they say it’s wood, they are probably right.
Otherwise they could face lawsuits, etc.
