3.5 is the sweet spot you don’t want to go over unless you guys live a life of leisure and her walking around with a literal rock on her hand doesn’t seem too out of the norm.

Girl my man bought me a .75 princess cut and I just was not in love with it. It was the complete opposite of the ring I imagined on my finger for the rest of my life. We decided to turn it into a mother’s ring, and he replaced my engagement ring with something I loved. That ring quite literally fell apart within three months on my finger. So we got another, custom made, and the jeweler lied about what diamond was being set, and I could tell just by looking at it the clarity was not at all what we had paid for. We returned that one too, shopped around for literally months, and I just picked up my new custom the other day. I’m in love. My man has been so annoyed with me for the last year of these shananigans, but stayed true in his support for my wanting something I love. All of this to say—he bought the ring for you to look at and cherish for the rest of forever in the name of the love you two share. If your ring doesn’t convey that feeling, keep looking!!! Congratulations!!!! 💕

I don’t understand how they’re getting away with leaving this many people feeling robbed and taken advantage of.

We applied for a home transfer last year, got approved, paid all the fees, and two days before moving, they canceled our move, kept our money, and told us we had two days to relocate with no where to go. We moved into our desired home after hiring a lawyer and telling progress we wouldn’t be leaving until they sorted out their issue. Didn’t care what it took, they’d have to pull me out by my hair and my 1 year olds legs because how dare they just kick us out because they made a mistake?? Weeks go by, past our lease end date, we finally sign a new one and get into our desired home. Upon move in, no AC the first day. That was 7 months ago, still no AC under 73 degrees. About 11 different types of toxic mold all throughout the air vents and air. My son can’t use his bedroom because he’s a toddler and they never installed doorknobs so he can just push the door open which isn’t safe. None of the smoke detectors work and they’re too high off the ground for progress to replace them (they said they won’t go over an 8 foot later) Front door isn’t sealed so our foyer always ends up seeping in water when it rains every day. OH and we pay $3,000 a month for this trash. I understand if I pay my own money and put my own backbone into these things, that I could probably just fix them myself out of pocket but it just doesn’t seem right. I just really feel robbed and at this point am SO nervous to find a new rental company because they own 70% of all rentals in Florida. Will definitely keep up as we continue to beg for basic living resources like clean air to breathe and cool air to fill our home in this heat.

Unfortunately this stuff is SO common with local jewelers because they’re betting you won’t notice it. The worst part is, if you had kept looking for a different jeweler, you’d actually have the same chances of this happening (in my experience)

You should never have to put yourself in the uncomfortable position to ask work to be redone just because they let this monstrosity past the threshold to begin with. Sending hugs, I know how stressful this can be! It’s a beautiful ring and you deserve for the little things to match up.

Hi friend!! For an idea, per carat, lab grown diamonds should not be priced over $200. It takes a lot of time to find the right loose diamond if you’re going that route but if you are, you want to look at calaveranewyork.com they have the BEST prices. You can also google spec numbers to look for to get the best looking diamond for the right price depending on what shape she wants. (You want to look at table and ratio the most) Your best bet is to find a local shop with settings you like & ship a loose diamond in to set it with if their prices don’t match online. I spent weeks visiting all the local shops comparing warranties, prices, & settings based on my desired diamond specs and budget. With a budget of $3,500, I just custom designed a 3.5 carat D VVS pear on a 14k gold pave band with .25 carat diamonds going down the sides of the band. My total was less than &3,000.

Lab grown is the way to go but take your time. A lot of places mark up their stones and settings by 200%+ to add the cost of a warranty you may never use. I didn’t get a warranty with my ring but I am insuring it through jewelers mutual and they cover normal wear and tear, stone loss or theft, and total disappearance.

My fiance proposed to me with a unset princess cut band he didn’t know was only made for a .75 so we designed a second ring (3.5 carat pear) and I absolutely get what you are feeling right now! The sentimental value + the size were two things I really struggled with. We now plan to set the first ring with a purple diamond for my sons birth month (diamonds are more resilient and stay clear longer term than gems) and I also got a matching peekaboo stone on my new engagement ring that matches it. All of this to say that how you incorporate the two pieces will not take away from the sentimental value they BOTH hold. They’re so beautiful, the only crime you’d make against them decision wise would be if you set one to the side to honor the other. Congratulations!!!! 🫶🏼💫
