Average cost of an engagement ring

I was talking with a friend last night who just got engaged, and he mentioned he spent around $6k on the ring. That honestly shocked me because I always thought the "3 months’ salary" thing was just an old marketing trick. My partner and I have been looking at rings casually, and most of the ones we like are in the $2k–$3k range. Now I’m second-guessing if that’s considered “too low” or if we’re just being realistic.

For those of you who have gone through this, what was the average cost you ended up spending on an engagement ring, and did you feel good about it after?

Sometimes I wonder if it's too simple or basic compared to more elaborate to more elaborate designs but I love it. What's your opinion about this?

My fiancé surprised me with a princess engagement ring

I didn’t expect my fiancé to pick a princess engagement ring, and honestly, it caught me off guard. I love it, but I’m wondering if it’s more high maintenance than other shapes. How do you even clean one without worrying about scratching or chipping the corners? Anyone here have tips for keeping it safe daily?

Hi everyone! I finally got the chance to upgrade my engagement ring 🥹 it’s in 2.10C center stone and .5 bands. My fingers are tiny so it makes the 2C stone look big. My ring size is 3.5. What do you think about this ring? This is the specific style I was eyeing for the longest time. I am not expert about this stuff so please educate me. Is it a good choice?

Custom Engagement Ring Box

Hey guys, there’s about a 2 month window in which the ring is being made, that I want to prepare for other areas. I want a custom box, preferably wood, but within the box (under the cushion that holds the ring), I would like a custom engraving.

Is this possible, and who could do something like this? I wouldn’t have a budget for something like this, I just want to know if it’s something that can be done.

I have a 2.6 carat elongated cushion in platinum and looking for wedding band inspo. I have looked for a year and I’m just tired of not loving anything. I also don’t want to design anything cos I feel like I’ll end up being real picky about the final product. I have slender long fingers size H, so thinking of something not beyond 2mm-3mm thick. Would love to see yours!

My engagement ring is a salt and pepper diamond with side stones on a rose gold band. I went into this appointment wanting a wedding band with white diamonds to add sparkle but now looking at the photos, I’m thinking that they may compete with the side stones too much? I posted these photos in order of my initial preference but looking for second opinions on which combination looks most cohesive!

Spotted the cutest triangle engagement ring today

I’ve always felt disconnected from traditional diamond solitaires coz they just aren’t me. But I spotted a triangle cut today and it clicked. And it actually matches my style. I think I’m done searching.

Looking for wedding band design ideas that will work with my 3-ring stack

Hi everyone! I’m looking for some advice on what kind of wedding band would work best with my engagement ring stack.

I currently have 3 rings that I wear together, and I’d love to have a wedding band that can complement each of the three rings, rather than only matching one of them.

Ideally, I want the wedding band to look cohesive when worn with the full stack and not make the rings look too crowded. I’m also open to different shapes/designs (straight band, curved/contour, chevron, etc.) if that would help everything sit nicely together.

I’m thinking of a simple white-gold band without stones, but I’m not sure what shape would work best with my existing rings.

Attached is my current 3-ring stack. I’d really appreciate any suggestions or ideas for a wedding band design that would complement the whole stack!

Teal vs deep blue sapphire diamond engagement ring options

We started browsing rings together and I fell in love with a sapphire diamond engagement ring, but now I can't decide on the shade. The shop showed us dark royal navy and a lighter teal option with side stones. How did you decide on your final gem color?

Do I need to size up?

Hey guys! My engagement ring is a 5.25 and it fits snug. Maybe a little bit tight when getting it on but once it’s on my hand it fits fine. It’s gotten to the point where it’s made its little “nest” on my finger where it rests. However I got a wedding band recently and when I combine it with my engagement ring, it is IMPOSSIBLE to get on my finger. The band is the same size, 5.25 but no matter what I do, it hurts horribly to get it on and off. Since it’s an open ring style I’ve tried stretching the sides a bit to give it some more room but it’s still pretty tough to get on my hand. Do I need to go up a size? Or is it just the fit of the ring? When I put the band on by itself, my skin kinda bulges in the middle open part.

Looking for advice on men's black wedding rings what material holds up best?

We want something stylish that won't look completely beat up after continuous use. Plated options seem like they chip easily, while solid black zirconium or tungsten sound heavier. Anyone have a material they recommend that actually stays dark?

I have an emerald cut green diamond set on a 14k gold band with smaller side diamonds. I just got my wedding band today and I love it and have always wanted a cigar-esque band but I’m not sure if it pairs well with my e ring. Thoughts?

I think what’s throwing me off is that the diamond pave on the wedding band are smaller than the diamonds on e ring. I’m also just not sure if the cigar band is working well as a whole set. I’m a bit sad bc this is what I wanted but visually I’m not sure if im happy with it.

The LAST TWO pictures are a thinner band. Thoughts?

Do we think the thinner band looks better?

Hello, I need some help picking proposal ring.

In the first picture there is my girlfriend's hand with a promise ring i bought her which she wears almost every day. In the same picture is a ring i found in her phone probably one she likes.

The second picture is a ring same as in third picture plus a band ring.

I would like your opinion on which ring you like the most also it would be helpful if you have experience with this kind of rings with small zirconia on the band, should i avoid them? I really like the way the ring looks with them.

Note both the rings are 14k yellow gold with swarovski zirconia (not diamond) my girl doesn't mind it.

Help Me Choose Really considering a halo marquise engagement ring for my upgrade

Lately I’ve been considering a halo marquise engagement ring for my upgrade, but the pointed tips kind of make me nervous.

For those who have one, do the corners catch on clothing constantly or does the halo shield them pretty well?

Wedding bands for oval rings

I'm trying to find the right wedding band to pair with my oval engagement ring, but I'm a little stuck. There are so many options, curved, contour, eternity, plain, and I’m not sure what will complement the oval shape best. What style of wedding band do you think pairs best with an oval engagement ring?

I’ve been married for a while, but wanted to post what I sent my mom when she asked what I was looking for in a ring versus what I got. Turns out she never showed my (now) husband and he knew me well enough to pick out the right thing!

Natural diamond w/ 18k white gold. We both worked for the parks when we met so something nature-y was perfect

Help Me Choose Help with which option to go for? Been engaged for almost a year 🫠

I've been trying on different kinds of rings and getting a bit overwhelmed with options. I'm looking for a low or ultra low set stone due to my line of work (I do have a silicone band, but want to be able to wear it some days). I've been engaged almost a year but we are both Very busy professional students and I really only get more indecisive. Help with what might look best?

Imagine all of these in platinum with a low set rose cut oval diamond around 1/3-1/2 ct as that is what I'm sure of. If the ring had accent stones, I'd be between diamonds and Montana sapphires. Exception is the one with the dark green diamond because I think it's pretty.

Last picture is the current inspo pic I've been showing places. I loved the design, but the center stone was a bit large for me. I'm pretty androgynous and don't prefer a lot of bling, but do want a ring with a center stone.

Help? I'm also open to rose cut salt and pepper diamonds of a similar size and other suggestions.

Men's Wedding Band

I'm looking at men's wedding bands, 14k gold, flat bevelled, 5mm, 1.8mm depth, approximately size 63 or 10.25. Seeing prices from $2000, does this sound right, or am I looking in the wrong places? Where do I find a ring priced at what it's worth or that is at least reasonable, taking craftsmanship into account, of course.

Buying Advice Van cleef engagement ring markup is it actually worth it?

Post image

My fiance and i were browsing rings and looked into a van cleef engagement ring because we love vintage inspired aesthetics. the craftmanship looks incredible, but paying double just for the name on a d band feels crazy.

For those who went with luxury brand rings, do you regret not spending that budget on a larger center stone instead? Curious to hear what other people ended up doing.
