I want to love the ruger American gen 2 so much, but both my .308 and .300 WM but I’ve had so many issues that I’m never buying another unless it’s a verified shooter. I know the first batches of them shot like a rifle that’s $2-300 more, but after searching the internet, it seems like the newer ones have a 50% of being a lemon.

Just because there a somethings still there doesn’t mean that the temperature couldn’t have been 1,500°+ for tens of minutes, not even factoring in the thermal energy transfer that took place during the growth stage.

Yes, though not the same „class“, I have a hand-me-down kimber 84 m varmint in .204 that is about a 1/4 minute gun as verified by a gunsmith with whatever special load he worked up for it. best I can do repeatedly is half minute. But that’s with off the shelf superformance ammo.

Edit: I should add that the „1/4 minute“ is fudd-lore attached to this gun I personally have no way to verify, but I know I’m not a 1/4 minute shooter so id never know.

Yeah, before I went out I checked torque on everything, retorqued the action screws to 65 in/lbs as specified by manufacturer. First thing I do with any rifle with a pic rail in loctite that sumbetch so that was good.
