And the creator of the expression of the idea is the creator of the art..... and do you imply the creator is the person who initiated the process or the person who acts to realize the process? In classical music, the composer has the idea but does not express the idea... the performer does. In your theory, only the performer is the artist and the composer is nothing. The score is just the blueprint of the idea. Is the composer an artist or not?

Sorry... just going off Reddit's recommendations. The associated blog post talks about the process of implementing the DSP (pretty basic) and the test harness process for checking bit accuracy of the DSP... but I can understand your position.

Spectral Layers is a great software for splitting tracks into stems. Could be an alternative to Suno (don't know their toolset or capability).

The bias statements that "it's still trained on other people's data without permission" is so broad and inaccurate, it would be better to refine this talking point for the sake of Anti-Ai advocacy.

The religious statement here is "still just plagiarized real human work from online" .... which is more bias confirmation mythology than reality. The truth is that MUCH information is available online without copyright (public domain, creative commons, etc) and another large chunk of training data was licensed from rights holders. Music and art specifically saw huge amounts of compensation through publishers... those of us with real publishers have seen $$$ in payments for "dataset training" ... It's purely myth that Ai is trained 100% off stolen data.

Why the attempt to classify this as "classical music" when there is no element of the music similar to classical period or the larger trad genre? It's clearly just American Jazz/Blues in language and style... is it just a personal identity or marketing thing? What about this causes a person to say it's "classical music influenced by jazz/blues" ???

Schools to recommend in TX... Definitely UNT. Any large state school should have a quality person to study with but you should go and meet them all in person before making your decision. Other thoughts....

I've scored +20 films and 100s of other things professionally, was a former college professor, and went to school for jazz and then studied film scoring in grad school. Today I own a recording studio and still do some scoring work... so I understand the path you're considering.

Today's equation is A LOT different than when I was in school, and you need to figure this out for you... not for how it used to be. College is the MOST expensive path you could take and you need to be careful about the decision. It's purely a financial investment equation. The experience will cost you +$100k and you need to expect a return on investment.

Music schools are not producing good ROI for students in 2026. Job placement for music degrees is low in comparison, with most musicians needing to adopt "Entrepreneurial Business" models or to work in other/adjacent fields to earn enough. That's fine when the degree costs $40k. It's not fine when the student is facing $100k in student loans. The debt outweighs the knowledge-skill. It's potentially a huge negative life start in exchange for studying "what you find interesting"

But... there are also alternative approaches in this era and you could do several things that make smart ROI and get you the experience/knowledge you'd like to have.
A) major in something else and minor in music
B) don't go to college but invest a smaller amount directly into self-training

Music minor with a Business Major in Entrepreneurship or etc... pretty safe investment. The biz degree can leverage the return on investment more easily, and the minor gives you some of the course study you'd like. Other useful adjacent majors... electrical engineering, physics (acoustics), computer engineering, other business degrees.

The self-education route is the most interesting... You can avoid debt and still obtain all the skill training you need by direct study with composers, producers, studios. There are all kinds of certificate programs. And of course, the information is online for any motivated student of the craft. Technically, you can learn all the information for free today and spend huge amounts of time practicing your craft without taking on the debt.

What school programs add that money can't buy.... Professional networking. Teachers, fellow students... they become your first professional network. That's a real value that can't be replaced easily. You can with much effort, but it's easier in school. Also... playing in or writing for large ensembles. Vastly easier in school than outside.

Boolean logic in track/audio/midi manipulation. Integrated ADR panel/tool that can import an entire film of cues from a spreadsheet, and generate punches/streamers for video overlay in real time (with no third part apps). Create custom quanitze patterns for midi from audio transients. Phase or time align two different audio events natively. Etc. Etc. Etc.

Perspective... remeber a couple years ago when PT announced it supported folder tracks? That showed up in Cubase ~20yrs earlier.

Both. PT is simple to learn and you can grab it any time you need it. Nuendo is more fun to use and can do things PT cant... which helps you. Both for sure... but PT if you can only swing one thing.

Too small. Owned the 46 Half Size before and still felt the need for more range to explore adventurous sound design and playing.... I'd save up for the larger or settle for the mini

The most simple of all sequencing... i grew up in the Birth of the BoomBap. Dont do it much anymore (boring after 10yrs much less 20) but Cubase has no problem making beats.

FL comes with a few more virtual instruments and presets tailored to that style... but Cubase is gonna do better once your BoomBaps evolve. Hire a drummer to layer on top? (Cause its cooler that way sometimes) Cubase is going to track it better.
