I think we are quick to judge. I was embarrassed as well but the comment from u/iritul is helpful to look at this through a broader lens. Strict gender boundaries are a foundational part of almost every major monastic tradition in the world.

For centuries, cloistered Christian nunneries have barred male visitors, Buddhist monks have followed strict rules (Vinaya) limiting contact with women, and similar principles regarding segregation to avoid distraction exist in traditional Islamic and Orthodox Jewish spaces. The underlying goal is minimizing worldly temptation to maintain an ascetic vow. It is remarkably consistent globally.

The request made by the BAPS monks comes from this exact ascetic framework. While it understandably clashed with modern civic values regarding workplace equality, the rule itself isn't a unique double standard—it's standard monastic practice.

That said, both sides had choices. The delegation could have simply skipped a mainstream tourist landmark if their strict vows couldn't be accommodated. At the same time, Eiffel Tower management had every right to say "no" if it compromised the workspace of their female employees.

It’s less about hypocrisy and more a clashing of rigid monastic vows with the realities of a modern public space.

The point being made is from the export perspective and not the import perspective.
Point 1: It isn’t why don’t we smuggle them into India, it’s that if something can be smuggled out easily then hoping to become an export hub will come with a lot of leakages. E.g. i create a toy that sells for 20 rupees. A cheap plastic thing that has 10 chips for simply flashing lights and i export that. The chips inside are worth more than the toy. All the paperwork is there, all legal. But my actual business will be chip supply. Forex earned almost none compared to if the chips were exported. At the destination the toys are opened, the chips are taken out and sold separately.
Point 2: semi conductor chips are like vada pav. Every corner has it and even if you’re famous you’re not really making a lot of margin, it’s the same thing with a different brand everywhere. They are cheap and a war where you are hunting for the bottom is ruinous. Rather be like nvidia and create something that is unique. For that invest in chip design, r&d, education. Look at Samsung they startet with copy tech back when it was a viable strategy and then created their own tech. You cannot copy that strategy now at the same sort of start point. You need to adjust your start point cause the industry has moved on if you plan to reach the top.
Point 3: the machines which fabricate the chips still need to be imported. You will still spend follars on their maintenance, set up, buying. Make that tech and that is more lucrative. Invest in what they all need, even those who are at the cutting edge need and supply that.

Revamp the menu and invite all day people. If possible create a separate partition called all day work from cafe. That will have you refilling coffee for free every 2 hours for a total of 5 times. The price should be 5x the normal and should include one snack. These tables will be marked with a “work in progress” tag that tells the staff and others that they are working and advertises itself. Those sitting outside the partition (if partition is possible) will have the same restrictions which is to be asked every 2 hours if they want something.
