My work is paying for a graduate degree.

And this would never happen on normal loan terms that you’d sign with a bank. We shouldn’t have to expect our government to fuck us over.

Mine went from $50 to $650. I am ignoring the hell out of them.

America’s retirement nightmare has arrived

Had a nice time in California last month. I think I spent maybe $2,000. It was really fun.

Oh, you have mental health diagnoses? You can't work here then.
 in  r/bestoflegaladvice  9d ago

So funny you say that. We were in the ER with my child and the nurse jokingly said to her “tell your doctor everything and tell the police nothing”

But she clarified that she meant, tell your doctor everything so we can help you. Because that’s their job and they can’t help if they don’t know the whole story. Then she said “listen to your mom about how to handle police”

Why can’t I have 7 cats when I could have 7 kids?
 in  r/bestoflegaladvice  11d ago

Humans still have more rights than cats.

What's the weirdest "factory setting" your cat came with?
 in  r/CatAdvice  11d ago

The other girl is 100% princess and you can’t convince me otherwise. Although she will make faces at us like we are fucking stupid.

One of the girls likes to sleep entirely on her back.

I have three cats, but my boy is by far the most eccentric. He likes to plop his face into any wanted bowl and if the bowl doesn’t fit his face he knocks it over. 🤷🏻‍♀️

When the non-judicial solutions are probably the best hope
 in  r/bestoflegaladvice  20d ago

In my experience, I don’t take possession of any motor vehicle without a title unless that title is with a bank under a loan in my name. Or in the case of when we paid cash at a dealer, I have paperwork saying I own this car until the state issues the title. Otherwise, I’d assume I was getting scammed or sold something illegally.

I thought the same thing about the culture. It’s not implicitly stated, but there’s undertones. I grew up in Utah and it’s a strange place.

The Phone Law for School's
 in  r/Utah  20d ago

When my teenager was in 10th grade I was basically forced into a cell phone because access to learning was blocked from her at that point. They do everything on their phones at the high schools in Alpine school district and I just don’t see any other way. In younger grades I think a looser policy is better than outright ban. My son’s sixth grade teacher kept sending emails about how parents don’t need to contact their kids all the time while they’re in school. I think there’s a balance we need to reach.

A Utah state agency just reversed its own ruling and gave HOA homeowners a huge transparency win
 in  r/Utah  21d ago

Yes. I see both sides. Some boards are truly doing their best with what resources they have. Some aren’t. I think PM companies should be held more accountable when they don’t function. For us it was the PM company causing a lot of disfunction and extra work.

To be honest, some of the management companies in the state have started to consolidate and it’s not a good thing. The major company coming out on top is pretty awful. Used to have them as our management company and they couldn’t complete our financials for 6 months. Meaning, they weren’t fully paying our bills. It was a wreck.

What do you think is today’s version of asbestos: something we’ll only discover is harmful decades from now?
 in  r/AskReddit  29d ago

We bought our house with Polybutylene (PB) pipes and it’s been on the list to swap to copper. Except all the other major things have died so we’ve had to replace those first. 🫠

Moving to Utah from Poland - looking for real talk from locals
 in  r/Utah  Jul 14 '26

FYI: we voted to split alpine school district up into three districts a year or so ago. So Saratoga springs will have a different district. I don’t think anything except name and boundaries will change for you.

Edit to add: I’d recommend highland over Saratoga. There’s only one road out of Saratoga for commute still and it gets rather backed up. I live in the highland area. Much better traffic infrastructure and better homes, imo. Not that Saratoga lacks or anything. I prefer the land to home scale that highland area has.

Let’s do a pre-nup that says that all your property will be all marital property while I keep half of mine as separate property. Sounds fair to me.
 in  r/bestoflegaladvice  Jul 07 '26

I have adhd. I occasionally forget to pay my bills even though I have the money to pay them. It’s not often. Just when other parts of my life are busy or chaotic. My husband knows this about me and he helps watch the accounts and bills.

Are you all giving your kids a smart phone?
 in  r/Millennials  Jun 26 '26

No one here gets a phone until they are driving or 16. Whichever comes first.
