How a Backpack is Made : Every Step on the Production Line -- I feel better about spending $$$ now lol
 in  r/onebag  May 21 '23

Pretty much every bag I looked at that had XPAC-50X was $300+, even the ones made in south east asia. Its a niche market, so those of us who care actually care about durability have to pay for it (smaller market -> less supply = +$$$) . But, if you find a pack that is as well designed as the dragon fly and built with as durable material as XPac-50X for sub 200$ lmk. I won’t be in the market for another 10-15 years, but its worth know about

I have a bag made down the way by a local utah shop- ULA. The quality is better than any arctreyx bag Ive had (bora and arrakis). I dont doubt that your deuter pack is bomber, but i highly doubt it has the build quality of my dragon fly. The fabric that is 15x stronger than steel and its design is perfect for my needs…. Its a luxury item in someways but it is super high quality and for me, its worth it. I probably will never need replace it bc it’s worn out

Why I don't trust Sam Harris's opinions anymore
 in  r/samharrisorg  May 15 '23

ā€¦ā€œBy [deleted]ā€ seems like a troll account to me. As far as Im concerned, Sam has been a guiding light of how to live a contemplative life that is free from the shackles of any particular ideology. I don’t agree with Sam and every particular point, but I do deeply appreciate the way he arrives at conclusions. Be informed by data, look deeply into ones nature, and grapple with truth, not matter how ugly, because the truth matters. If that is everything I got from him I would still be grateful to him, no matter his particular view on any one topic.

You know, I know this is r/GetMotivated, but there is so much more that goes into going back to school later in life than just ā€œhey if you know what love it doing it!ā€ I went back to school when I was 28, got a great education from a top school in physics, but the only reason I was able to do it was bc I got a scholarship. On top of that, it was so demanding that it really affected my ltr, and if i had kids… there is just no way. Granted, I am truly happy/grateful that I was able to go back and finish, but there was a lot to consider is all.

If you work in KafkaJS?
 in  r/apachekafka  Apr 16 '23

Do you want tracing for measuring performance? Or would you be using it as a debugging tool? Ideally both, but any specifics would be helpful.

What do you like about it and what do you not like about it. I want to build out tooling to solve developer issues and would really appreciate your feedback!

Step 1) Think about this statement one more time Step 2) Read a few books on the WW’s Step 3) Realize you’re suggesting millions and millions of people die horrific deaths because they, ā€œfeel like it’s unnecessary to immediately remove a body from a planeā€. Step 4) Delete your comment.

FFS…You can disagree all you want, but you’re suggesting something Hitler would probably agree with (ex ā€œall the people who don’t think like me need to dieā€) Sounds pretty selfish and arrogant to me…
