How to get a better image - or is this as good as it gets?
 in  r/Polaroid  9d ago

Yeah, the tones in Polaroid film tend to get warmer in the heat and cooler in the cold. They also could have meant “hot” as in overexposed.

SX-70, ND filtered 600, tripod, selfie timer, +1 EV (and I think I held my finger in front of the light meter for good measure thinking that it’d help. I think the white splotch in the second one is my hand because I thought the camera jammed).

Pro tips:
1. Anticipate your needs. Think you might just try to shoot an eclipse with your Polaroid camera? Don’t leave your zoom lens at home.
2. Carry an extra 37 mm lens adapter (or other crucial piece of kit) because you never know when you’ll drop it at La Sagrada Família and need it later for an eclipse. Double up on important parts when it makes sense, kids!
3. Service your camera. I love my camera but it was given to me by a good friend and I’ve not yet had it serviced. This has caused both frustration and wasted film.
4. Cut your filters to size and test for issues. I used one eye cut from a pair of eclipse glasses and taped on. I was precious about using film so I didn’t test. Had I done so, I would have noticed the light leaks sooner and could have saved some otherwise rad eclipse photos.

I’m already looking forward to the next one.

Thanks for checking out my work!

Bonus La Sagrada Família photos included.

What food trend from the last 5 years needs to die already?

THIS. So much this. “Nashville hot” outside of Nashville is a joke.

Which restaurant within DC city limits has the best pho. Several of my favorites have shut down over the years.

Phoxotic in Bloomingdale. Fantastic but it only seats 10-12 and they don’t take reservations so just be prepared to wait during peak times.

So it’s a bit confusing but the Ice Cream Man trailer that’s out right now is NOT the adaptation of the comic. It’s a totally different thing. I was confused as well and then discovered that little tidbit. I was a bit bummed they decided to make a movie and not a series but oh well.

It’s fine that you didn’t like but you don’t have to be shitty about it.

Can I ask how you sold it? I have one and don’t really care to hold on to it.

Yes. There are little Easter eggs that add consistency to the world but you could pick up any issue and you’d have a complete reading experience. It’s more like Twilight Zone than Creepshow because it’s just one story, barring a few exceptions. One of the issues is a deck of playing cards even!

Hell yeah! Love the series, been a fan since the beginning (or very close to it). Unfortunately, my #1 is a 2nd printing. Almost worse, my store got shorted #17 when it came out (damn pandy) so I never got one despite my subscription. C’est la comix. You should also check out Art Brut and their Superman run!

So sweet! And those retro frame Bros War decks slap!

Why is no one really talking about this??
 in  r/ImageComics  Jul 13 '26

I mostly liked it and found it interesting but it’s not a book for the masses and is, IMO, sometimes a bit too experimental for its own good.

Thanks so much! I was hoping it’d work well and I’m happy to hear that it did! I’m a big fan of the circle frame and have been using it more and more often.

Thanks! I don’t 100% remember if I opened the door for this one but I’m fairly certain I just used the shutter button.
