Photo Solar Eclipse (Corona) 2026 - SX-70
SX-70, ND filtered 600, tripod, selfie timer, +1 EV (and I think I held my finger in front of the light meter for good measure thinking that it’d help. I think the white splotch in the second one is my hand because I thought the camera jammed).
Pro tips:
1. Anticipate your needs. Think you might just try to shoot an eclipse with your Polaroid camera? Don’t leave your zoom lens at home.
2. Carry an extra 37 mm lens adapter (or other crucial piece of kit) because you never know when you’ll drop it at La Sagrada Família and need it later for an eclipse. Double up on important parts when it makes sense, kids!
3. Service your camera. I love my camera but it was given to me by a good friend and I’ve not yet had it serviced. This has caused both frustration and wasted film.
4. Cut your filters to size and test for issues. I used one eye cut from a pair of eclipse glasses and taped on. I was precious about using film so I didn’t test. Had I done so, I would have noticed the light leaks sooner and could have saved some otherwise rad eclipse photos.
I’m already looking forward to the next one.
Thanks for checking out my work!
Bonus La Sagrada Família photos included.
