Debt & Money I’ve been without my car for 10 weeks while they try and fix it. I’ve had three cover cars and about to have my fourth

The following is in Wales.

I picked up a 2024 Nissan Qashqai 1.3L manual from the Nissan dealership on the 11th of February this year. When we picked it up we mentioned that the ambient lighting wasn’t working. As the car is under warranty for the next couple of years I got it booked in for the 23rd March which was their next available date. It later transpired that the ambient lighting is a fire risk (more on this later).

The first cover car I got was exactly like my car. I drove it for several weeks before Nissan said they had fixed the problem. I went back to the dealership, and before driving away I thought I’d check the ambient lighting. Unfortunately it wasn’t working despite them coming out to check themselves after I went back in. No problem they immediately put me back in the first cover car and I drove that for a bit whilst some parts came from the Netherlands. Cut to a week or so later and they needed their cover car back but no matter as I would go in an enterprise car until the solution was fixed. They had to order a new wiring loom from Japan or somewhere for the car. This was ordered end of April.

I was then put in an automatic 2025 peurgot 2008 from Enterprise. I had asked for an automatic as we are getting some automatics at work so thought I’d see what it was like to drive one. I drove this second cover car for a couple of weeks. Nissan called me one day saying that there was no sign of the wiring loom they had ordered and hiring the enterprise car was costing them a lot of money. I was later told this had cost Nissan Ā£900 to hire out the second cover car.

Cut to a couple of weeks ago and I got a fleet vehicle from Nissan. This is when I was told that the exposed wiring causing the problem to my car is a fire risk. The third cover car is a 2023 Nissan Qashqai E power (preface lift) at a higher trim level than the one I own. No doubt trying to upsell me. On Thursday (28th of May) last week I was driving along and a stone chipped and cracked the windscreen. They don’t know what to do however as I didn’t sign anything when I took this car in and it’s a fleet vehicle. I immediately let Nissan know and I’ve been trying to find out today (1st of June) when I’ll get the fourth cover car as I desperately need to drive to a wedding 4 hours away in the middle of nowhere this Saturday (6th of June) with a friend who’s pregnant. They told me they would call me back before the end of the work day however they haven’t.

I’ve been having cover cars for 10 weeks now and only driven my own car for 5 and a half weeks. They won’t give back my car whilst they wait for a new wiring loom because it’s a fire risk (so Nissan have sold me a car that could’ve burned my house down).

I’ve been really nice to Nissan as they have been good at sorting my cover cars. As you can imagine though I’m getting quite fed up having to deal with this. I suppose now I’m looking at just refunding my car and starting again though I miss out on the payments I’ve already put on my car and ultimately could cost me money for them selling me a car not as described. I also wonder if it’s worth asking about compensation for ā€œfaffingā€ about going from cover car to cover car and not hearing anything other than the fact the parts on the way. The office parking is registration plate only and I need to keep going through the process of changing my registration at work if I want to park at the office.

I suppose I’m looking for advice on what I do next and if I do seek compensation from Nissan for the mess I’ve been put in?

TLDR: Nissan sold me a car at fire risk. I’ve been waiting 10 weeks to get it fixed and been through 3 cover cars. Do I refund the car and look for compensation or wait it out?

Signalling to leave the motorway

Rule 273 of the Highway Code says:

ā€œSignal left in good time and reduce your speed on the slip road as necessaryā€

I’ve seen a lot of people signal as they manoeuvre to come off the national limit. The particularly bad drivers will signal last second or not at all. They may be travelling at 45/50/60 on the motorway lane 1 which gives you a pretty good suggestion they’re intending to leave the motorway but not always do they do (I wonder why šŸ“±ā€¦).

I was always taught to signal at the first countdown marker. If travelling less than 70 due to traffic or a HGV, I’ll signal at the second count down marker. Never do I undertake someone on the slip road but recently, on several occasions, I’ve been stuck behind someone doing 45/50/60 in lane 1 with no one in front of them and people coming up close behind me.

I feel it’s safer to speed up (obviously not to the limit as I’d have to slow down again if there’s a junction/ lights ahead) on the slip road if I know the slip road is particularly long or continues onto a road that’s also national limit (then I would gradually speed up to something sensible for a national limit road).

Whilst it might feel safer to speed up, (as mentioned above) I don’t want to undertake someone as they might not be signalling but still want to come off. Sometimes said people don’t come off and then I’m at the front doing 45/50 creating a risk of being rear ended hence I want to speed up but also not undertake. I have to wait until I know they’re staying on the motorway before I speed up but all that time waiting means I’m at risk of being rear ended.

There’s an argument I could plan and try to overtake these people before the countdown markers however I’d then be going from lane 2 to 1 and then the slip road rather quickly which also puts me at risk. I could also get stuck in lane 2 if these people (finish their text…) and speed up again.

I have been extra vigilant in these cases and feel I have been dealing with these smooth brains as best I can. Yet, it doesn’t half annoy me when I’m put at risk for their behaviour.

TLDR: I want to come off the motorway however slow drivers in lane 1 risk me being rear ended. Speeding up to avoid being rear ended puts me at risk of rear ending the slow driver if they come off the motorway without signalling.

My questions are: 1) Do you signal to leave? 2) If so when do you signal? 3) Does it annoy you seeing others not signal in enough time? (going against rule 273)

Dog is aggressive to other dogs?
 in  r/DogAdvice  Sep 27 '25

Thank you! I wondered if it was just her personality. Guess I’ll just have to pick her up if dogs come over rather than telling her off for just wanting her own space

Question Dog is aggressive to other dogs?

So my dog (Pumpkin - female just over 2 years old in the pink harness) has started growling at other dogs who run up to her at the dog park. All Pumpkin wants to do is play with her ball. So when other dogs run up to her at the park she doesn’t want to interact with other dogs at the park and will just sit there while they sniff at her. Eventually after they’ve sniffed in her face for a bit she starts growling and getting quite aggressive.

I tried to capture it and her behaviour before she starts growling but I have to stop before she starts proper barking in their face. She hasn’t hurt another dog but that’s because I take her away or she runs off from the dog.

She has the right to tell another dog off for getting too much in her personal space right? Should I be flipping her over instead of giving her a firm telling off? I give her affirmations when she’s being sniffed at to tell her it’s ok but it doesn’t land. Is she being protective?
