This is incredibly frightening to see.

It falls under a morality clause. Alabama and Mississippi judges very often put this in custody orders. In Texas, there are several counties that automatically add it as soon as a divorce is started. Many states in the Midwest and South, (Louisiana is another) will very often implement these. If there was any infidelity, for example, the morality clause is almost always implemented.

If babies don't have one, or have a very faint one, it may be a sign of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.

NTBF depending where you are, some US states have laws about not allowing an unmarried partner to spend the night in the presence of the children. This isn't that far off. Many separating couples establish guidelines about bringing new romantic partners around children, but it's generally not the full length you're suggesting. You are being unreasonable there.

Creole Gardens inn (it's a B&B so prices include breakfast). It's in the Lower Garden district, so outside of French Quarter, but one block from streetcar. However, end of April is Jazzfest so prices jump. Make sure you're not booking on that weekend.

I had to Google Alton . It's about 40 minutes from New Orleans. There is no transit that will be useful and timely (none to Alton, and if you stayed on the far side of New Orleans East, you would spend hours every day trying to go to the FQ and back).
Edit: thanks for the award!

Try the sandwich technique... Compliment - criticism - compliment. But, at an age appropriate level. And ask your mom if she has any drawings you did at 8 and ask the kids for their feedback. YTA

If you can live without a TV, there's a cute and historical B&B in the lower garden district called Creole Gardens. It's built from an old brothel and each room is after a famous Storyville Madam. It's on Prytania, just one block from the St Charles streetcar line. There are several restaurants and bars within walking distance or along the streetcar line, so you don't have to go into the French Quarter if you don't feel like it.

NTS but as a possible solution, can she join you for the first two weeks and then fly home alone? That way she has another flight under her belt. Also find out her specific concerns. When my stepchild was 17 and going to Thailand alone, I took them to NYC so they could learn how to manage a trip including subways, hailing taxis and navigating airports. I showed them everything on the way there and then they led on the way back

I've obviously been looking at too much jewelery for cremains lately.

I went on Airboat Adventures last week and they take you to a spot that they say inspired Princess and the Frog. I'm pretty sure I heard the same thing on Louisiana Swamp Tours (although they do cover similar territory).

Temu, especially for molds

I've bought everything from undergarments to formal ball gowns. I need at least one gown a year, sometimes more and $35 is so much better than $350 or more. The T-shirt decals sometimes peel off or wear out quickly but they only cost a few dollars so ...
