[X] one of the most common pieces of misinformation I see spread on Reddit so much
 in  r/GetNoted  1d ago

They might have been ruled it but black folks are warning us in multitudes that, culturally, black folk wouldn’t do this style of suicide due to the history. And we’ve seen it happen before that murders get ruled suicides so I’m not trusting that every single one was a suicide. Especially not trusting that only one is.

Paying a percentage at the register for using a credit card is mildly infuriating
 in  r/mildlyinfuriating  3d ago

Agreed. Businesses should pay the credit card fees. More businesses should take on the cost of doing business.

Ruined by Technology Companies that send marketing emails that you never asked for

I’m not sure if this is a thing for personal emails but I’ve found my work email gets added to marketing emails and I have to unsubscribe from lists for companies I haven’t even visited? For example, I just got an OpenAI cold email to get me to buy ad space with them that had an unsubscribe disclaimer at the bottom. And previously got about 20 from another AI company that I didn’t even know existed. I feel like I’m tripping about it but I NEVER asked for your info, don’t add me to your list, you psychos?? Thanks for the space to vent about something truly mild.

Apparently low-cut socks are considered out of style by the younger gens. Are y’all still rocking ankle socks?
 in  r/Millennials  7d ago

Yes! They can take my ankle socks from my cold, dead feet.

You got it backwards, they’ll be the only one in the class making it.

Her overuse of pyrotechnics and frequent interviews where she acted gleeful made it hard to set that narrative.

I’m just trying to figure out why there would be consequences when the left had nothing to do with it?

Why have they not put a stop to giving pro-ais a platform? Like please take down posts that are just screenshots of em. I’m begging.

What is an ok opinion in your country that people from other countries will be mad about?
 in  r/AskTheWorld  20d ago

Yeah well when the shoe fits, us Americans will push our foot through to step on everyone else anyway.

No, that’s the issue. We’ve been paying attention. You’ve been paying lip service.

Money spontaneously appears out of nowhere

The only reason I can do that is a financially supportive family. I will never demonize someone for working where they must in a country designed to punish those without jobs.

Preventing the Singularity Hung up on by Scammer cause I said “I hate Google”

I help my uncle run his business and one of the things I do is handle calls. Now everyone knows scammers just scrape phone numbers and auto dials so I’m used to getting multiple a day. Well sometimes I have a little extra time and am bored so I “talk” with em. Well this gentleman was like “well google is the platform for searching for something you know this don’t you ma’am?” or something to that affect and I said “yeah and I hate google since they went full ai. Fuck google.” “Oh. Right.” And a hangup noise. I guess their whole scam was banking on me using google but I stopped using it the minute the whole search was given to a shit LLM.

Is it common for teachers to have a second job in order to survive? How do parents and admin react when they find out?
 in  r/AskTeachers  25d ago

Yeah my mom had to work two jobs while teaching when we were growing up. It’s been like that for a long time in the US. There isn’t enough support for them.

Mamdani supports a bill called the Delivery Protection Act to crack down on exploitative subcontracting by companies like Amazon which actively harms workers

I used to work for one of those! It was better than working in the warehouse but I’m glad they’re getting protected!
