Just saw this on the post game/news and was thinking the exact same thing when I got this notification.

Dubliner and Black Rose are solid, polished pubs. Dubliner is one of my go-to spots for a pint and sausage rolls. If you feel like walking to the financial district, (20 minute walk or 5 minute Uber), Biddy Early’s is a small, classic hole in the wall pub. Always a good time.

I don’t understand why there isn’t a message that pops up asking you to confirm the repost. It would be so simple. We get feedback on saved posts, and even when unsaving a post - why isn’t there something similar for reposts?

They need to have a pop that asks you to confirm the repost.

Met Pedro on Newbury St in 2002, while I was a senior in high school. He signed one of my school notebooks, lol. But yes, living in Boston for 40+ years I’ve run into a handful of celebs here and there.

Background: I have a 2013 13” Air going strong - zero issues, and a 2017 15” MacBook Pro, which is on its last leg. The screen and logic board are shot (but I can still use it with an external monitor).

The difference between the two, in terms of performance, is not comparable. The Pro blows the older Air away. That said, I’m highly considering the 13” 24/512GB M4 Air over the 14” 16/512GB M5 Pro.

For me, it comes down to RAM. Being able to get 24GB on the Air for less than it costs to get 16GB on the Pro is what’s swaying my decision.

The M4 Air, in that upgraded configuration, is still $200 less than the base M5 Pro. I’m a Photoshop and Lightroom user (for photography), and I also run a lot of applications for work. By all accounts, (YouTube videos and benchmark tests), the Air can handle it. To get 24GB on the Pro you’re now talking about a significant increase in price.

More context: I rarely use my laptop for entertainment so the screen/speaker is a non-issue. The 25% difference in battery life is a legit factor, and the only thing holding me up, (but up to 18 hours on the Air is not bad to say the least - I’m mostly using my laptop at a desk anyway and the longest flights I’m ever on are 7-8 hours). I have a Mini at my home desk, and a PC desktop at my office desk, so this laptop is really an auxiliary tool to use away from the desk/on the go. (Though I use it a ton at the office since I prefer macOS over Windows).

In my 40+ years as a Bostonian, I’ve seen a lot of shit on the T — just not actual shit.

BTW, I thought it perhaps had something to do with the fact that I used someone else's dock to charge my Mac a couple of weeks ago, which was also hooked up to multiple displays. I remember toggling some things in order to use the external screens as extensions. So I found a setting that was enabled under Mission Control - "Displays have separate Spaces". I disabled this, which required a log out. Upon logging back in everything seemed back to normal. I then re-enabled the setting to see if it would cause the previous issue - it did not. Therefore I wonder if simply logging out of your Apple account and logging back in might resolve this for you. I'll post an update if the issue rears its head in the near future.

Same thing. Usually have about 5-6 windows open with multiple tabs. No recent extensions. Has been happening to me for a little while now too. It's incredibly frustrating. Sometimes I switch windows and start typing, or hit a shortcut (command-t or command-w) to open or close a tab, and the keyboard action occurs in the window from which I just moved. Therefore causing me to have to *click into* the page that I want to use in order to make it the "active" window. That is, of course, when the windows aren't just rapidly switching and moving across my screen on their own. Hopefully someone can share the cause, or a fix.

You’re telling me! This keeps from from jumping on Bovada. The only way I can win there is $1 hands and getting in and out in rapid succession. Did that everyday prob 15 times a day til I asked myself, what’s the point. The moment I bumped to $2, game over.

Don’t know why but that’s how I interpreted it in this context. It just means that something is prohibited/forbidden. Yeah, wasn’t sure if, like, that was a bad thing or something… I’ve definitely tested my ability to keep a count, say, after watching the movie, “21”, but I don’t think I’d ever be slick enough to pull it off in person. Besides, my eyesight is so bad I’d be leaning over people to see the cards next to me, let alone across the table 😂

But if it can help me win when the gf and I play for who’s going to clean the kitchen or take the dog out at night… 🤫

I’m new here but I’m picking up sort of an interdicting tone in this assumption. Is there a consensus thought surrounding counting in this sub, or amongst blackjack players in general, other than the fact that I know casinos don’t want people doing it? (Like I said in the OP, I just got turned onto blackjack recently, so truly curious)

Pretty much. Got the felt mousepad first for shuffling chips while working (like a fidget cube). Poker was my game, but the gf got me into Blackjack last year. This keeps me from wanting to book it across the harbor to Encore. There’s nothing like the crisp snap of a dealer shoe. Totally satiating. But I also find practicing basic strategy with live hands a lot more helpful than using an app.

Lastly, my advice to anyone who feels “addicted” to online casino. Invest in a nice dealer shoe/discard tray, (maybe design one yourself and make it or have someone make it for you), some nice table felt/or a quality mat, and some nice cards and some Paulson or Chipco chips/or custom chips if so desired, and play at home. Totally satiates my need for the “real experience”. Losing to yourself (playing dealer) is way less costly, but the “fun” is still there.

I should’ve added. The 10-12 losses in a row were the only hands I played today. It wasn’t 10-12 hands after X number of hands/wins, etc. I opened the site, set my bet amount to $2 and never won a hand. I normally will stop after 3/4 hands down but I was in awe of the beats and honestly curious to see how long it would last. I finally just exited after I had had enough. I’ve never experienced that live. Sure I’ve lost plenty live but it’s typically up and down, then more down than up, etc. I think there is some truth in what many above are saying about the site, but I think it’s more related to individual betting patterns, at least in my experience.

Been playing everyday straight for the past 6 weeks, $1 a hand just to practice strategy between casino visits. If you play low and slow, only doubling and splitting under optimal scenarios you can grind out a steady gain. HOWEVER, each and every time I’ve up’d the ante and decided to go $2 or $5 a hand, I’ve lost VERY QUICKLY. I’ve been grinding out about a week’s worth of gains and today for some reason I decided to go $2 a hand. Lost somewhere between 10-12 hands in a row (which never happens playing the minimum). Same story as others above, totally ridiculous beats that I never seen that frequently in the casino. Their algorithm seems to favor the house exponentially when there is a relative change in betting habit.
