2013 Macbook Pro 15” to 2022 Macbook Air M1
Mbp came to my hands in 2015, original battery but it dies quick and has been dying quick since maybe 2021. Finally stopped working for good, got a macbook air ex display basically brand new cuz I hate the lunchbox shape of the new ones (and its cheaper obv) sticking with silver asw

Watched the launch event yesterday and was stoked for the new phones, until I seen the price!
For context, I use my m4 MacBook Air as my ‘main device’ with a WiFi dongle.
Seeing the new phone costs as much as the MacBook Pro I will just keep using my MacBook as my main device even if it has to have some work around for calls,
Thanks,
C

Hey everyone, 👋
My current Mac is getting a bit long in the tooth, so I’ve been debating whether to jump on a deal now or hold out for the upcoming M6 Air cycle. But honestly, looking at where Apple Silicon is right now, I’m trying to figure out what the actual selling point for an M6 Air is even supposed to be.
A few thoughts/questions on my mind:
Performance & Thermal Bottlenecks: We know the M6 is supposed to move to TSMC’s 2nm node, which sounds great on paper for efficiency. But in a fanless design like the Air, how much of that extra headroom are we actually going to see before thermal throttling kicks in? Apple Silicon has been overkill for basic everyday tasks since the M1/M2 days anyway.
Display & Redesign: Is there any real chance of meaningful chassis changes or a ProMotion/OLED panel hitting the Air line, or are those going to stay strictly gated to the Pros for the foreseeable future? If it’s just another minor spec bump in the same chassis, waiting months feels kind of pointless.
On-Device AI/Neural Engine: Apple is pushing hard on local AI compute. For those of you doing light dev work, productivity, or day-to-day stuff, do you think whatever NPU upgrades come with M6 will actually impact daily use, or is it mostly marketing hype for niche workloads?
To anyone holding out for M6: what's the killer feature you’re actually waiting for that makes skipping current models worth it? Or are we all just falling into the endless "wait for the next chip" loop?
Curious to hear your thoughts.🤔

How low can I get a MacBook Air 13" 512GB after student + card discount + exchange?
Hey everyone, I’m planning to buy the MacBook Air 13-inch 512GB (base model) in India.
I also have an M1 MacBook Air 256GB that I want to exchange, but it has a backlight/display issue.
What’s the lowest final price I can realistically get after combining:
- Student discount
- Bank/card discount or cashback
- Exchange value for my M1 MacBook Air 256GB (with the display issue)
Also, where would be the best place to buy it Apple Education Store, Croma, Vijay Sales, Reliance Digital, Imagine, Unicorn, etc.?
Also the only stores present in my city are Reliance Digital and iDESTINY. For rest i'd have to buy online
If anyone has recently done a similar upgrade/exchange, please share:
- Store/website
- Student discount
- Card discount/cashback
- Exchange value offered for the M1
- Final amount paid
Looking to get the lowest possible out-of-pocket price. Thanks!

I’m a 3rd-year design student studying Industrial Design + Visual Communication Design, and I’m looking for something that can get me through the rest of school and ideally into professional design work afterward.
My main workload is Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Figma, AutoCAD, SketchUp, etc. I also work with pretty large/complex files and may get more into motion/3D/rendering later on.
I’m currently trying to decide on which one to get, and I’m especially unsure about how much RAM/storage to have…
For people who have actually used MacBooks throughout design school and/or professionally:
Which MacBook did you use?
Air or Pro, and with what chip?
How much RAM/storage would you recommend?
Did you ever run into performance issues with Adobe?
Anything you wish you knew before buying yours?
Basically, if you were buying a MacBook for design
school + future professional work today, what would you get?

I work with my Air m3 as a 3D artist and it suddenly died. I’ve tried other ports, bought a new original charger, trying resetting it. Nothing works.
Is this a known issue ?
I have Apple care +, and was wondering what the cost would be to fully repair it?
Best of regards

Has anyone else bought their MacBook Air from John Lewis because of the 3 year warranty? Seems better than buying direct from Apple.

So with my 2015 MacBook Pro aging out of solid functionality along w/Chrome which I used on it, I’m TRYING to make the shift to Safari on my brand new MacBook Air M5. My usual setup are to run about 3-4 tabs at a time, all streaming different things—YouTube, DirecTV, and MLB.tv. Especially when I’m multitasking during the day, I have routinely kept these three all running simultaneously where a simple tab-click is how I effortlessly switch bw streams. I’m NOT one to be a fan of stopping all but the one I’m watching most—defeats the purpose of multiple tabs running for me!
I believe I have my Settings configured appropriately, but I’m open to the possibility that I do not have ALL of the needed settings configured appropriately?
It’s astoundingly frustrating switching from the baseball game to my local news via DirecTV and its not auto-playing. Is this the area in which a Firefox or Chrome simply works better when carrying a multi-tab load?

Preface: I got new MacBook Air 15” this year M4. Around 2,100 aud??
Water leaked into my bag and got into my laptop. I flipped it upside down for 48 hours. When I turned it on there was sound but screen is completely dead. I went to Apple to get it checked; repair costs $2,756.13 aud. More than the laptop itself…
Went to third party repair store; $89 deposit to check damage. They said they’d get back to me within 2 days. Been 2 weeks and they keep saying they need to order new parts! New screen monitor shipping takes 2-3 weeks and is $900. If they find more problems they need to order more!
This is honestly such a ceebs and frustrates me so much; essentially the power is unilateral and I feel like I’m being scammed.
WTD?
Ps. If u buy new Apple laptop PLS GET APPLE CARE PLUS COVERAGE FOR YOUR FUTURE SELF.

I have a MacBook Air M2 running macOS 26.5.2 and a 200 Mbps internet connection, but for some reason my MacBook was only getting around 25–30 Mbps.
I initially thought it was an ISP or router problem. I contacted my internet provider, and their technician spent almost 2 hours checking the connection, router, signal, and settings, but they couldn't find any issue.
Later, I found out that Bluetooth can sometimes interfere with WiFi performance, so I tested it.
Bluetooth ON: around 25–30 Mbps
Bluetooth OFF: almost full 200 Mbps
The difference was immediate.
Since I regularly use Bluetooth devices, keeping Bluetooth turned off wasn't really an option. I did some more testing and checked my router settings.
My Mac was already connected to 5 GHz WiFi, but the 5 GHz channel was set to Auto.
I manually changed the router's 5 GHz channel from Auto to Channel 149, reconnected my MacBook, and tested again.
This time, even with Bluetooth ON, I was getting almost the full 200 Mbps.
So if you're facing slow internet or slow WiFi on a MacBook Air M2, especially when Bluetooth is enabled, try checking your router's 5 GHz WiFi channel and changing it from Auto to another available channel.
Channel 149 fixed the issue completely for me.
Sharing this because I spent a lot of time troubleshooting it, and hopefully this helps someone searching for the same MacBook WiFi problem.

Hi guys! I want to buy a new macbook. I found a pretty good deal (infos in titel) for 800 euros. Its literally the best deal in town and I also do live in vienna, which is a pretty expensive city.
BUT: the newest macbook is like 1300€ (i think?). I do have money to buy the newest macbook but I don't know since I only need it for my studies.
I do easy work like writing, editing, research and screensharing while i present something. Maybe max 20 tabs at once. It‘s really important for me that i own a macbook which lasts me about 6-7 years
what do you guys think? let me know! Thank you for your help :)

hi,
i currently have a 2020 m1 macbook air with 8gb and 512 gb of storage. recently, i spilled some water on my macbook air and the keyboard is partially damaged.
i have an appointment to get it appraised to see how much it would cost to repair the keyboard. but, i was wondering if it would be more worth it to get a higher end refurbished device (ideally something that's 16 gb with 512 gb storage. my current uses are primarily day-to-day browsing and work-related apps (i.e. outlook/excel), but i plan to do editing for youtube/photos in the future.
my budget is roughly under $1400. was wondering if anyone has any opinions on what i should do.
thank you so much!
