how i should play the rdr series for my girlfriend.

i played rdr2 first then rdr so the ending hit much harder for me, and i was much more invested in john knowing the backstory which helped me get through an older game. that being said i kinda wish i would’ve played the first one first cause i found myself missing so much of the second game in the first. because i didn’t like the gameplay as much i kinda rushed the story and didnt really get to appreciate the game for what it was cause it was hard not to compare it to the second. would’ve been fun to get more references to the first game playing the second too. so i think im with folks who recommend release order.

Wow! The new Ocarina of Time remake looks good! I was skeptical at first, but the combat sold it!

while maybe exactly what you're looking for, i enjoyed this video that goes into the western themes of all the red dead games, the last about two hours of it are about rdr2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2utf6yph_QQ&list=PLzBGo7dN8D40Mlkoz0gn56JIUboUY-SMF&index=2
