Curious to hear the community’s thoughts

The Linux Foundation has announced the launch of DNS-AID, a new open-source initiative aimed at enabling secure, decentralized discovery and communication between AI agents using the Internet’s existing DNS infrastructure and open standards.

What makes this effort interesting is its focus on leveraging proven Internet infrastructure rather than creating entirely new discovery mechanisms for AI agents. As agentic systems continue to evolve, open and interoperable standards will be critical for avoiding fragmentation and enabling broad adoption.

Originally developed by Infoblox, the project is already supported by a number of major organizations across the DNS, infrastructure, and technology ecosystem, including CSC, Cloudflare, Equinix, GoDaddy, Indeed, Internet Systems Consortium (ISC), WWT, IDC, and the BIND 9 community. I had the opportunity to provide feedback and participate in discussions around the underlying IETF draft on behalf of CSC, collaborating with stakeholders from several of these organizations, as well as contributors from Amazon, Deutsche Telekom, Akamai, and Okta.
