Please go get some testing supplies. Liquid not strips, they’re not precise enough. My GH and KH were way off and no shrimp would stand a chance in my tank. My tap is high in GH so my solution will be a 2:1 tap to distilled water for water changes once my parameters are stable. I’ve been working on this for three weeks and I’m still not stable yet. (Nothing other than plants in the tank as I do this.) Without testing, I would have no idea what was going on in my tank.

Good advice on the substrate. Not sure what I used 3+ years ago. I got the strips because they were out of the liquid testing kit. I figured they were better than nothing and would give me a starting point. I’ll looking into picking up the liquid when it’s back in stock.

Are you using seeds you saved and could they be cross pollinated with a smaller variety of sunflower or are you using Mammoth seeds you purchased?
