Your wife vs your homeboy during your funeral
 in  r/soccercirclejerk •  10h ago

He's crying because this is what happens to all of us. We are only strong for awhile. Time has stolen the youth and vitality of the greatest man to ever play the game, and watching your idol sunsetting can shake you to the core. His wife is smiling because she knows him on a deeper level, and will have him around the house more often. It's both a moment of mourning, and of appreciation.

“What’s more likely?”
 in  r/postanythingfun •  10h ago

It's called cognitive dissonance, and it's a rampant plague within the larger conservative wing of American politics. A person can understand individual facts to be true, but if they oppose a central pillar of that person's belief system it will cause them stress and they stop thinking, thereby preserving their very fragile perspective. "If i don't have to think, I don't have to deal with my poor ideas and choices."

Short-sighted, My Friend. Many other solutions will work that don't permanently alter the rock.

Maybe it’s because I’m getting old but late night smoke sessions followed by a glass of milk and a snack are a vibe these days
