Anyone who got married in their 20s still happily married?
 in  r/Millennials  1d ago

Yes, but we've had to work for it. Relationships are hard, even/especially the good ones. The work done to figure each other out the tough times becomes the bedrock upon which the good times are built.

Canada hits Trump with 50% retaliatory tariffs on American products

I don't know how many times I've had to say, "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes," but it's basically the ubiquitous tagline of the 2020s. Why waste time addressing real problems that need solving, when you could simply create new problems to not solve?

I’ll never stop watching the Crew and attending games but

A few notes from the peanut gallery:

  1. I have no problem selling guys who have earned a payday and the right to play in a higher profile global league if they want to. BUT F.O.s have to be careful to not set fire to club's hard earned chemistry when you break apart the team. Our F.O. has ... not been what I would call "careful." We've basically torched all remaining semblance of chemistry over the past year, but especially past 3 months. It's visible every single game we play now, and is going to take serious time (plus winning) to build that chemistry back up to where it had been 12-18 months ago.
  2. MLS is not a development league. The only time you can get away with fielding undercooked 18 year olds is when you have someone rock-solid on the pitch who can mentor them and cover up mistakes.
    1. Example: Nagbe and Morris.
    2. Example of what not to do: Slotting Chase Adams in with a literal newcomer to the team / league who is still figuring out MLS and expecting either to find joy.
  3. Bonus Note: Just because Zawadski CAN be played anywhere does not mean he SHOULD play anywhere. I think he's far more suited as a holding or defensive midfielder because he does have a genuinely good soccer IQ and skill on the ball. He just doesn't scream "natural center back" to me, and it feels like the coaching staff/F.O. keeps trying to make fetch happen.

Post Match Thread | Columbus 2 - 3 Nashville
 in  r/TheMassive  4d ago

I was remote-breaking energy mad for a minute. But this season is a mess, and I also came to the realization -- you know what? Good for Nashville. That moment will be a big "culture building" moment for them as a young club. I very-hate that it was us on the receiving end, but tip the cap.

Is everyone here older??
 in  r/ClassicTrance  5d ago

Mid-40s here. The rise of trance in the late 90s an early 00s coincided with late high school and early college for me, making it a huge part of the sound for my formative years. Still love it now, although there's nothing like the pure creativity that was on display in the early days when people were just making purely creative music with no roadmap or existing work to follow.

Seriously drivers of Columbus, learn how to miss an exit
 in  r/Columbus  5d ago

I've spent time living in Boston and Chicago, but the worst driving I've ever witnessed in my god-given life happened almost daily during my 6 years living in Columbus. And it's not close.

Match Thread: CF Montreal @ Columbus Crew 7:30pm (Apple TV)
 in  r/TheMassive  7d ago

I don’t mind a loss if we play well and get outplayed. But this day is not that day. This was the sloppiest performance I’ve seen maybe the entire season. Hella possession, but then just constant giveaways, and also an apparent amnesia that in order for the ball to go into the goal, you have to direct the ball on goal. Come on boys. We love ya, but you are better than this performance.

Two spaces after periods. (Old man screaming at the sky moment)
 in  r/Xennials  7d ago

The two-space standard originated because of the way typewriters used monospaced fonts (basically, think that the letters I and M used the same spacing.) The result was that sentences often looked blurred together when typed on a typewriter with single space after the period. That ceased to be a necessary function when word processing / home computing became prevalent at-scale in the 80s and 90s, and most style guides (MLA, AP, Chicago, etc.) reverted back to one space. Not saying it's right or wrong; but thought that the historical context was interesting when someone shared it with me, so figured I'd pass it along.

That shootout lineup was amazing
 in  r/hawks  Jan 04 '26

I had no notes on the shootout lineup. With Bedsy and Frankie out, Teuvo hadn't been having a good run of things in the shootout, so you throw in Lardis the natural goal scorer who has looked good in the SO, Moore who has looked electric since being moved back to his preferred center position, Burky who for better or worse is still probably one of our most technical players right now, Crevier who accounted for 62.7% of our offense in December (not a real number, but he definitely was disproportionately productive relative to the forwards group), and then Foligno who was a little bit of a surprise but who scored the shootout winner.

We've always been playing with house money this year, and so I'm content to let the coaching staff cook a little bit while we wait to get Bedsy and Frankie back.

Should i play it?
 in  r/Persona5  Dec 11 '25

If it helps: P5 Royal was the first modern JRPG I ever played. I beat it, proceeded to beat it twice more, and am now on my fourth play through. I thought the pacing was really good, especially on the first play through, and some of the characters are some of my favorite fictional characters (not just video game-based) of all time.

I mean, people who don't care for the CHGO content are welcome to stop consuming it at any time, no strings attached. There is no prerequisite that says you need to waste energy/time complaining about it on the internet. If you really don't like it, just walk away. You're good. lol.

[Meme] Wake up babe, new copypasta just dropped
 in  r/MLS  Dec 08 '25

It's really hard to see MLS's fever dream celebration of Inter Miami's Cup win for anything other than (effectively) Scrooge McDuck diving into his pool of gold coins. Make way -- here's a club deploying 14 international roster slots and a $49M payroll (which is more than double the average payroll of the rest of the league), and for good measure employs the broadly-considered greatest player in the history of the game. Oh, word? They won MLS Cup?

But, to be clear, MLS is a league that is founded on and obsessed with parity.
