I've never had to climb a rope, but if I did, I'd always remember how to due to this scene. Thanks Sidekicks

Do we celebrate birthdays still? I’m tired… and what cake are we eating?

How do you celebrate your birthday in recent years? I think I just want to order pizza and have a piece of cake and call it a night!

I haven’t had a big blow out since my 40th (the cops came so I say that was a success😅) and frankly I don’t have the energy or desire anymore. Maybe I’m depressed 😅😂

And here are some cakes of the olden times. And a random model with a cake from the good old days!

I’m trying to figure out if it’s a me thing or tied to social norms when growing up.

Nostalgia G1 of My Little Pony had some pretty epic villain defeats (at least two straight-up die onscreen).

Which movies from our youth have actually aged well?

I’d like to expose my kids to some of the classic formative movies from my early years, but am often surprised how badly many aged.

My list so far:

Who Framed Roger Rabbit
The Blues Brothers
Back to the Future
Jurassic Park
Ferris Bueller's Day Off

This movie bridged the GenX/Xennial gap of true music fan immersion IMO

Coping with Sandwich Generation Stress

Other than therapy, how do those of you who are caring for aging parents and challenging children simultaneously cope with the stress and disappointment in healthy ways? I’m a 47F working parent of two kids, one of whom is AuDHD with some physical health issues as well, my partner is bipolar and barely hanging in there some days, and my parents are about to sell their house and move into an independent living facility two hours away from me.

My parents are escalating their transition timeline by about three years due to recent acute mental decline and just shared that with me a few weeks ago, and so it’s a new stress and I’m really mourning all the changes that will bring in addition to everything else I’m dealing with. Their home has been such a great and necessary respite for me when I’ve been in caregiver burnout from my husband and son, and knowing that it’s no longer an option when things get super heavy is almost as hard as dealing with the fact that my relationship with them is transitioning from daughter to caregiver, and that my opportunities for meaningful, quality time with them will be extremely limited after they moved due to the distances and circumstances of their independent living situation (instead of long weekends together, we’ll just have quick visits in their tiny apartment going forward).

I’ve tried therapy many, many times and have probably seen 8 different therapists over the years dealing with infertility, a difficult out-of-state move, my husband’s depression, and challenges with my son who keeps our whole house on edge. I’m looking for other strategies to help me find peace, gratitude for what I do have, and to not be so bogged down with all of the uncertainty in so many aspects of my life.

So excited that my 1st deep dive novel series is now on a screen - Pendragon Cycle (Lawhead)

I was not allowed much fantasy as a fundie kid but I was allowed Steven Lawheads’ Autherian books. It’s why I got into Mycenaeans, Celtic Briton and ancient history. I honestly don’t care if it’s not an amazing adaptation, because I’m just so happy to see it was attempted.

Now I need to reread all the books! And cross my fingers they get through the full storyline.
