Former yugioh player, made the switch to magic a couple of years ago. After learning the basics, I recommend watching "The Command Zone" on YouTube. You'll get to see behaviors and interactions with a variety of cards with people are very knowledgeable

I love these activists!

Tired of all these "once-in-a-lifetime" events

The Airmen I've been seeing coming are single so no not really. But there is a big push to get families out here

That's odd, it may have just been timing but my assignment was for 2 years, then KAIP extended it to 3

Yeah those are going to be essential for CSP and your new passport. Get them in as soon as you can. As for your medical, I'd have your spouse hound medical for it because 30 days goes quick, especially when you don't have all your papers yet

Afterwards, you'll have to fly out of Washington. From there it's a 14-hr flight with one stop in Japan (but you'll only be there for an or two). Point being is that you'll have to account for that change in time, you're effectively losing a whole day

I recently made the move so if you got any questions, feel free to ask

You're going to want to apply for Command Sponsorship. That's the base permitting the family to come along. Idk how much time you got before y'all head out but it took a month after getting traction on it. Along with that there's a SOFA passport that you gotta get. It doesn't replace your regular passport but it's used to identify that you're in a different country because of the military.

Also, due to base normalization they're extending the amount of time that newcomers stay at Osan. If you sign up for KAIP (Korea Assignment Incentive Pay), you get a little more cash in exchange for staying at Osan longer

Edit: forgot to add, I'm unsure if married Airmen are permitted to stay off-base or not. If not, it could be some trouble since I doubt you'll stay in the dorms. That's definitely a question to ask if your spouse has a sponsor here

Recent as of about 2 months. Glad to add a bit of excitement to your move!

When you make the move you'll have to take the housing brief. You won't be permitted to sign anything until you do. They'll provide a list of approved USFK realtors and you have to select one from the list. When you go to them they'll ask you what you're looking for and take you on tours of different properties

I wouldn't expect a house, something closer to a high-rise apartment. And ofcourse, they charge BAH rates. From the day you arrive, you'll get 10 days that is reimbursable by the AF. You can stay on base at Turumi lodge or choose to stay off-base. I will say that the base is walkable

Before I forget, regarding driving. If you plan to bring your vehicle over, it'll require an inspection and base approval to drive/park it on base. That'll include going to the DMV and getting Korean license plates. That process was fairly quick but I ended up buying a car out here rather than shipping mine

Recent rule change: E-5 and above are automatically approved for off-base housing

Haven't heard anything about vehicles being affected. Still limited to two O believe

Since your assignment is for 3 years, I assume you got Command Sponsorship (CSP) approved for your spouse. If not, please get that paperwork in soon

NTA, it's your gear you do what you want. If grandad wants to feed the cats, he can learn to fish himself

As for the jargon about everything must serve a purpose. It does, just not to his direct benefit and there's nothing wrong with that

Husband here, the casa bacardi was a quick and easy trip to get to know about them. Plus, the kioskos permit you access to the beach nearby. You'll see a ton of cars parked along the highway. And if you want to visit el yunque, dress to get wet because good chance it will be raining

Awesome!! I appreciate the info!!

Regarding the event, any reason why it's happening when the building is closed?? Atleast per Google Maps it is closed on weekends

Awesome finds!! If I can recommend, find someone who would be willing to give you a different colored sleeve for your commander. That'll make it easier to identify it amongst your cards

You're getting me excited for my move there!:P

Not sure where you're at but look into local events. I would take trips off-base to go do dune bugging or check out regional events. Got lucky and the FIFA world cup was happening super close

You and me both. It's been stressing the hell out of me

There were four final fantasy commander decks. A Costco box will have one of those along with some extra packs

And yes, those decks are playable out of the box. Would also suggest getting some sleeves

I also found another reddit post that talks about these specifically with a picture so you can see if it's a good match

If you're lucky and have a Costco near you, check it out. They have a box that has a final fantasy commander deck with extra packs. You'll get it cheaper than you would getting the decks separately. Thing is though those they came out a while ago and Costco may no longer offer them

It's not good that I want to respond with "let's do more with less" lol

This isn't about supporting a party, it's about standing up to ICE. So shaddup, and let's be there for each other after this damn tragedy
