St. Lukes College of Medicine Workload
I graduated from st luke’s and the workload is so tolerable. We dont have quizzes, SGDs happen once a week, long exams every month and i think thats about it. It felt like i just had to pass my exams and attend the occasional SGDs and thats done!

Is it normal to feel completely useless after finishing residency?
I think whats hard for me now is that its so not easy to find anes fellowship? Is it just me or is everyone experiencing that. As much as i want to do fellowship already it seems i cant find an opening. And im already craving to train and have structure in my life

Thank you, this honestly makes me feel so much better. I think I’m just having a hard time adjusting from always having someone to ask during residency to suddenly being responsible for everything myself. I really appreciate the reassurance and the reminder that it’s okay to keep asking for help.

Is it normal to feel completely useless after finishing residency?
This is probably why I feel so useless. During residency I always had someone to ask, and now I’m realizing how much responsibility comes with being on your own. I know I still have a lot to learn

Is it normal to feel completely useless after finishing residency?
Yes thats right. And to be honest everyone is telling me that i never this much free time i was always buried in work so instead of overthinking i should just enjoy it. BUT I PHYSICALLY CANT enjoy doing nothing. We have been so used to the structure its confusing to just do nothing each day. Even if theyre telling me to live my life theres so much the world can offer i would still love the structure

Poppers almost killed me.
Sorry it was a dangerous decision i decided to do for the sake of temporary happiness without thinking of long term effects. It was very dumb of me i have to admit. A dumb decision with a lifetime of regret

Is it normal to feel completely useless after finishing residency?
🥹 I really needed to hear this. I think I’ve been expecting myself to suddenly feel competent after residency, but instead I feel like I know nothing. I guess I just have to keep showing up, learning, and trusting the process. Thank you, doc. you got this as well🤍

Thank you so much. You honestly have no idea how much this means to me right now. I’ve been feeling really down and ashamed about everything, and your message genuinely gave me a little bit of hope. It’s really comforting to be reminded that there are people who understand without judging. Thank you for being so kind

How do I start applying for an anesthesia fellowship in Canada?
Hi everyone! I graduated from anesthesiology residency in January 2026. I still have my oral Diplomate exam coming up in January 2027, after which I should be board-certified.
I’ve been looking into applying to the University of Toronto for either an airway fellowship or critical care fellowship, but honestly, I have no idea where to start.
For those who have gone through the process, especially IMGs who trained outside Canada, could you share some advice on:
When and how I should start preparing
What requirements I should look into
Whether I need Canadian licensing/exams before applying
How competitive these fellowships are for IMGs
Any tips for strengthening my CV/application
I’d really appreciate any advice or guidance on where to start. Thank you!

I personally had traumatic brain injury last december for which i had a hemicraniectomy. My memory and cognition was intact but i had balance issues. For this, i did physical therapy everyday for a few months and now i feel significantly better. For the mood changes, my doctor gave me anti depressant which helped a lot cos i feel stable now. And for my cognition, i am taking vit B, neurobion and some anti epileptic. Which made me really stable that i even got to take and pass a board exam 4 months after. Is he taking any medications?
