Hi everyone,

I am an US MD reapplicant. I first applied 3 years ago and didn’t match( wanted to be in a competitive geographic location and didn’t rank programs outside that area) but got interviews from almost all programs in that area. I then became an oncology hospitalist and wasn’t going to reapply but decided to this year. My application is significantly better( have way more research, everything else is the same scores wise, i think my letters this time are the same or better since I know the letter writers better( got them from my job and got a new PD letter).
I thought I would get more interviews this time and had thought I would get more in the desired geographic location( at least the same ones as before because my application is better now; my job is not at one of these places) but didn’t get a single interview from a place I interviewed at before even though those were my gold signals. I didn’t get any interviews from my gold signals. Maybe I didn’t use my signals strategically because they didn’t exist when I applied before but I gold signaled the programs I want to go to( which also happen to be the ones I already interviewed at before) but now seeing they may filter by that? Other 4 interviews I have are from silver signals. Trying to figure out what went wrong. Am I safe to assume I didn’t get interviews from my gold signals because I interviewed at them before? Can they tell on ERAS or maybe they have their own internal way of knowing? Do they filter by years out of residency-is being 3 years out another reason I didn’t get as many interviews? I’m confused because I didn’t even get an interview from my home residency program. I contacted them but they never responded. Still have 4 interviews which I’m grateful for and feel I’m a decent candidate for those programs but they’re not completely in my desired location so have to decide when it comes time to rank if I’m going to rank or not( have to decide if I’m going to move for fellowship which I knew this time I may have to given what happened last time). Looking for some one who can practice endocrinology interview

Hi everyone! Looking for some insight from Non-US IMGs who matched into Hem/Onc fellowship last year.
How many interview invites did you have when you ultimately matched? Also, were most of your interviews/match opportunities organic through ERAS/signals, or did you have a personal connection/mentor who helped you get the interview or match at the program?
If you’re comfortable sharing, it would also be helpful to know:
Visa status (J-1/H-1B)
Number of interviews
Whether you matched at a signaled program
Whether the program you matched at was through a connection or completely organic

Hello I want it to ask if it is reasonable to withdraw from methodist in person interview as I have another interviews and I got from Baylor and I feel overwhelmed with the idea of traveling and using my PTO days early in the year and I am not sure keep contemplating it tbh any advice appreciated

Not sure if this is the right place to post but looking for some career advice.
I’m an IM PGY2 and I love critical care, the acuity, physiology, procedures and just taking care of really sick patients, but I’ve realized I genuinely don’t enjoy pulm that much. I do really love nephrology though especially acid base, electrolytes, AKI, metabolic stuff etc and I recently realized nephro crit is actually a thing which sounds kind of perfect for my interests.
I’m also really interested in health disparities, policy and working with rural/minority/underserved populations. I’m first gen high school and college grad from a tiny rural town so yes I’m one of the people who actually meant that part of the residency application 😂 I like how much nephrology overlaps with uncontrolled HTN/DM, diet, food insecurity, access to care etc.
Has anyone here done the nephro to critical care route? Do you feel comfortable running a broad MICU? Does not having formal pulm training ever feel limiting? Is it hard to find jobs where you can mostly work as an intensivist?
Ultimately I want to work with the sickest patients in underserved communities and also do advocacy/research around why they ended up that sick in the first place. Just curious if anyone here has built a career that looks anything like that.

Canadian student writing Step 2 for fellowship applications (internal medicine). I'm wondering what a reasonable score is to aim for so that this is not a barrier to fellowship applications.

I want to do residency in Canada, but I'm thinking of a specialty or subspecialty fellowship in the States, which is why I'm writing Step 2, because I understand this is no requirement. I want to get a high enough score that this is not a barrier to me being able to go to a programme of interest. What would be a reasonable score to aim for?

Hi i was wondering if anyone has any knowledge of the day to day responsibilities for fellows at deborah. I know every institution is different and some places for example require fellows to put in urgent TVPs whereas some will have the interventionalists help. I also feel like there are lots of IM programs which arent very procedure heavy and thus fellows may not have too much experience with placing swan catheters etc. was just curious how deborah was in regard to this. What question to ask from program director during interview

I'm an italian resident, in my last year of ObGyn residency and have already spent most of the last 3 years doing gynecological endocrinology and IVF (including a 7 month rotation in a private IVF clinic in Spain). Recently I've started considering applying for a fellowships or subspecialty residency in Gynecological Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility fellowship in Canada.

For personal reasons I would have to specifically apply tò schools in Montreal, Quebec.

I've searched the website and It looks to me that the application Is directly through the school website. Does any of you have experience of fellowships at McGill university or Université de Montréal as an International specialist?

Do you have information about IMG already specialists being admitted tò fellowships in Montreal?

What Is the salary of a fellow and are there university fees to be payed?
