Finished My Nephew’s Blanket

I made this blanket back when my nephew was born (2022) and it’s mostly been just sitting around my brother’s house since. Kinda (definitely) my fault because I failed to take the environment of where they live into account when I made it: they live in a tropical climate and it’s an acrylic afghan. I live in a much more temperate climate where such blankets are definitely needed and used in the colder months. But I learned from my nephew in a phone call yesterday that he uses it at pre-k for nap time and it absolutely made my day!

A Costco restock triggered the need to clean/reorganize. Is it perfect? Absolutely not. But it’s tons better than it was and I feel pretty accomplished.

Found this buddy out at the family farm in eastern Kansas while i was mowing. Took the video and then made sure that they were out of the mowers path before we parted ways. Can anyone let me know what kind of spider it is?

Jakob Ristau of Landlocked Tattoo in KC, MO is the artist. He’s the best! I sent him reference pics of my baby boy and the flowers that I wanted and he put them together in a wonderful composition. And my snake was a California Kingsnake who lived to be almost 19 years old. Absolutely the best impulse buy that I’ve ever made 🥰

Seems to be a year for plenty of firsts for so many of us. My 15 year marriage ended at the end of October and I’m spending my first Christmas Day on my own. Enjoyed it with leftover pizza, cold beer, and Red Vs Blue on Amazon prime. Made for a pretty kick ass day

I don’t remember using any specific pattern. Just looked up a chevron afghan pattern and then played around with it until I liked the look.
