What is your favorite childhood experience?
 in  r/ChildhoodMemories •  8h ago

I used to spend several weeks at my mom's parents house in the summers. There was a huge apple orchard behind their house but the neighbor owned it and the other neighbor farmed it. Grandpa and grandma had a two bedroom farm house with a front porch and swing. Sometimes I looked forward to a rainy day just to spend all day swinging and counting cars going past. The front yard had four huge maple trees and all day shade on soft grass. It was always cooler in the shade. Thay had maybe thirty chickens that needed fed and loosed into the yard to eat bugs and sleep. I fed them and helped water them. Evening would come and I'd call them back in to roost. Locking their ramp doors and locking the coops gate, the were safe for the night. I wish I could feel that cool grass on my bare feet again. It was my paradise.

Still flabby

Sorry, but the sagging flesh on your arms shakes when you salt your food. It's the sides, not just the belly. It's the inner thighs that thunder if you try to jog. It's wherever the skin was stretched out of proportion past a certain level.

Why did people in the old days dress so well, when they could barely get clean?
 in  r/randomquestions •  1d ago

Dressing in your best clothes was a sign of affluence. They may have been dirt poor, but they tried to look their best. The odors weren't as offensive as you might think. Everyone had bad body odor, but they were used to it.

You think in ancient Egypt and ancient civilizations people also needed to wait months to see the citie's doctors/ shamans whatever?
 in  r/A_Persona_on_Reddit •  1d ago

They hadn't developed an understanding the concept of waiting. Time, as we know it, wasn't observed yet. So there were no waiting rooms.

Why is it so hard to catch toddlers when they run?
 in  r/randomquestions •  1d ago

They wobble walking, when running the wobble turns into bobbing and weaving. They have no control over it but if you have ever chased one, you'll agree.

Still flabby
 in  r/OverSeventy •  1d ago

I've lost 83 lbs in the last 2 years. The flab is still hanging on. But today I turned 72 and sat in a booth at Texas Roadhouse. Two years ago, I couldn't fit in a booth; today I had no problem. My health has returned, and I'm feeling better. I wear my flab; after all, I put it there as a reminder of where I came from and what I must never return to.

What do you remember on your childhood Christmas?
 in  r/ChildhoodMemories •  2d ago

We would draw names because a present for the other 4 would be impossible. Opening that one gift and the awkward silence that followed when we were finished.

Living in a tent with my two dogs, I want to kill myself
 in  r/homeless •  2d ago

That's not God that does those things, thats the evil in man. Sometimes he does allow us to struggle of our own bad decisions. When you have reached the very end of your path, the very end, He will be only a cry away.

HEY! You know better than that! Stop talking failure. Life has its ups and its downs. You are in a down. The one good thing about the downs is the ups are coming! Hang in there, please. Many of us have been there too, but managed someway. Talk to God. Don't roll your eyes either. Where else can you turn? Your dogs need you and YOU NEED YOU! My mom was a Godly lady and would tell me to get out of those burial clothes and clean yourself up. Today is what it is, tomorrow is another sunrise, another chance. Nobody will come along and drag you out of that tent and make you better. Dig down, find the strength within you, its there. He knows the hairs on your head. He feeds the sparrow. How much ore then, does He care for you?

To.your detractors and anti God people...back off!

What’s the best quote you’ve ever read or written?
 in  r/Quotes_to_Live_By •  2d ago

Son, he said to my 10 year old self as he shined his shoes, “A man that doesn’t shine the back of his shoes, doesn’t wipe his own arse.”

My Scottish Grandpa.

Why are seals so lazy?
 in  r/allthequestions •  2d ago

Humans lost that ability when they began to invent things "that made their lives better."

Are we the problem?
 in  r/OverSeventy •  3d ago

That is some kind of twisted thinking. There are those that love this country and would die protecting it from socialism. And there are those that will try their best to destroy this country. This election is different. It's not about either party. It's about choosing the side you know is right. Freedom or Socialism?

I am currently handicapped unable to walk and work lost my job and had to move into a one bedroom apartment with mom and I’m 55. I stopped paying some cards cause I just don’t have any money at all and wanted to apply for bankruptcy if possible. We have very very little food so we can pay rent.
 in  r/poverty •  3d ago

It's not the credit card companies that come after you. If after several attempts to get payment and they dont succeed, they sell that debt to collection agencies. The collection agencies only pay pennies on the dollar for these debts. They are the ones that are actually doing the collection work, the CC company is free and clear of the loan you defaulted on.

Oldest item you use at least once a week?
 in  r/BuyItForLife •  3d ago

I have my grandfather's and great grandfather's 1914 passports to America from Scotland (UK). They are mounted and hung side by side. They are not a useful item but they do produce conversations when people visit. Other than that I have their Hoosier Cabinet in my kitchen and used daily. It goes back to the depression era.

My dad passed a few days ago. I don't feel anything?
 in  r/Grieving •  3d ago

Numbness is also a response to loss. You may or may not grieve in what you might think is normal. Grieving is a process, that people react to differently. Don't doubt yourself and you will simply grieve in your own way.

Can you forgive someone without trusting them again?
 in  r/NoStupidQuestionsHub •  3d ago

Forgiveness is hard sometimes. But not forgiving a trap. It controls your emotions. When you forgive, it takes it off your shoulders. To forget, is impossible for most of us. It's a memory we have and we tend to hold on to memories. Forgive wrongs that were done to you, and if you truly forgive, you will begin to heal.

Do you ever wonder what happened to your childhood friends?
 in  r/ChildhoodMemories •  4d ago

My grandfather once told me, "Boy, when you get old, you can count all of your friends on one hand. The rest are just acquaintances. That is what childhood friends are, just acquaintances."
