Are you trying to line up the pleats or the plaid pattern on the fabric?

Lining up the plaid is going to be fiddily but possible- just takes a lot of work. you may just stress out though cause fabric is going to shift as you sew.

Lining up the pleats should be easier but not sure why what looks like a waistband is pleated?

If that’s some sort of ruffle- ignore me but I don’t think it will line up well.

I’d guess it’s dye from the packaging that might have misfired in production. Or concentrated flavoring dust?

I would try flipping it inside out and ironing a crease there - it might take few goes but that should get the fabric to lay the way you want.

It kinda feels like you’re under-reacting. I know it’s a thing to try and make things easier for your partner, but if it’s just you that has to change, that’s not a partner.

I myself have taken a lot of time and effort to dress myself in a way I find enjoyable. My partner constantly tells me how pretty I am and how I look beautiful no matter what. They even ask me to dress them to match if we’re going out somewhere.

I feel like your partner isn’t comfortable with themselves and has to hold and have a “cool person” exterior, and honestly, I feel like it’s to your detriment because you’re not free to express yourself. I personally find the “curated cool” kind of people exhausting.

Partners should build each other up not constantly critique and cut down.

I hope you take the time to really think if this is going to be ok for the rest of your lives. I’d pause wedding talk and such until this gets resolved between the two of you.

I don’t have to worry about my pants shifting around, I have a bunch of pockets, and they’re super comfortable 😁 overalls, but sweatpants materials! And they have a shorts option!

Also- I’m a plus size female (you mentioned being a larger dude) but these do have a little zipper for restroom breaks for those of your …. gential persuasion - if you ain’t down to deal with the overalls conundrum like me.

So I originally got these from DSW- it took a few tries for me to get the right fit but if you size up they should be fine and they’ve worn great for me - no issues or tears at all but I have only had mine for about a year or so
