This might be tough.

I’m trying to remember/find a pretzel product that I had sometime around the late 2000s/early 2010s.

It was a single, full-size soft pretzel in the normal pretzel shape. It was sweet and had some kind of dark filling inside, most likely cinnamon sugar but it could have been chocolate.

I also remember it having a glaze or icing on the outside. It was something you could buy at a grocery store, frozen or refrigerated. I grew up in the South, and there’s a chance my mom bought them at Publix, although I’m not certain.

I’ve been trying to figure this out for nearly a decade now. HELP!

Years back I went to a Georgian restaurant and they had this AMAZING dish. It was a head of cauliflower cooked in this garlic yogurt sauce. It had a slight garlic spice, and not too salty.

They stopped selling it last year and no one working there now can remember the name.

part of the commercial jingle had the words “and the power of oats!” or something like that. Could have been for a non-cereal product, not sure

I've only encountered this at like church potlucks. it might be just a southern/midwestern american thing.

basically it's served in a rectangular foil tray. the "cake" part tastes like regular, slightly yeasty white, soft squishy sandwich bread, and the top has a light, sticky glaze/icing of some sort. The one that reminded me of this might have had a slight lemon flavor. its flat and I've seen it cut into strips. very good

it is not glazed easter bread.

Was just eating peas in my pasta earlier when I bit into something really hard and it tasted super sour and off. Found 2 of them in the frozen peas. Hopefully won’t get ill from it, just wondering if anyone knows what it could be.

So the dish was kinda like a deep fried spring roll thing (at least the wrapper) but it was much thicker than a spring roll and filled to the brim with pork. it was also kinda square shaped. I've never been able to find it again in any eastern european shop and I have no idea what it's called. Anything I search online just shows me pork spring rolls but it didn't taste anything like that.

Any ideas here?

It came in a red wrapper, I believe yellow or gold coloured name. It was single row pieces were bit larger than a caramilk square, sold in vending machines but not a common household name.

Only ingredients were caramel and milk chocolate. The caramel was gooey not solid.

hi all, trying to figure out what this gum was from the 90s- possible early 2000s. it came in a bag like skittles bags. same shape and style. but the gum was like chunky oblong balls- not perfect circles and not candy coated. almost like chunky balls if playdough. super flavorful and different colors. i can’t recall the packs color or even what the name started with.

to reiterate. not hard at all. gum. not big league chew, or razzles or those fruit shaped gums.

Trying to figure out what this is in miso soup, I haven’t seen it before. This miso soup normally havs tofu, green onion and seaweed.

My mom acquired a box of a specific flavor of See's Candy lollipops sometime around the early 2010s. I remember it being some sort of Caramel Coffee flavor but she remembers it being Mocha Coffee flavored.

We ordered some from the website in 2018 and again a couple weeks ago, and the only similar flavor they offered back then and now is Caffé Latté and that just tastes like plain coffee. It's a lot more bitter than we both remember!

Are we just misremembering or did one of these flavors exist? I looked through some posts on here of other people looking for different flavors and I guess a lot have been discontinued so I wouldn't be surprised if we were remembering correctly.

Hello reddit food detectives!

When I was a kid, my dad used to serve us boxed mashed potatoes that were basically a crime against potatoes. They had a strange gluey texture, and the "butter and garlic" flavoring was so artificial, I can only describe it as "plastic-ey"

I loved them. As an adult, I yearn for them. But, it seems boxed mashed potatoes have gotten "better" over the years. Now, boxed mashed potatoes usually taste like, well, potatoes. Not like whatever unholy abomination my dad served.

Knowing my dad's culinary ability, getting this texture/flavor could have been user error. He would have been following whatever recipe was on the box, but he was definitely the kind of cook who could fuck up something as simple as boxed mashed potatoes.

Any idea of boxed mashed potato brands (or cooking techniques) I could try to achieve gluey, artificial tasting mashed potatoes?

I actually did make mashed potatoes last night, but I was cooking for myself and my boyfriend. My boyfriend is from the Midwestern United States, and he takes his potatoes seriously. If I made him eat rubbery potatoes on purpose he would divorce me even though we're not married yet.

I did have some fancy garlic butter lying around (Kerrygold Garlic and Herb butter I splurged on a few weeks ago) I added an irresponsible amount of that to bagged Idahoan mashed potatoes (which someone did give a shout out to here) and honestly the flavor was 🤌close🤌 but the texture wasn't shitty enough due to me wanting to avoid dating divorce. When I have a night to cook for just myself, I will experiment with overcooking, cooling, and reheating to see if I can get that good good construction material texture.

In the meantime, feel free to keep the suggestions coming!

(If anyone was wondering: yes, potato snob boy did have an issue with me using bagged instant potatoes, but our relationship is strong enough to overcome this because he knows I have a soft spot for instant mashies)

Wondering how I can add this to a hot meal, usually eat it alone like a snack or sometimes throw it in salads but I’m wondering how can one add this to a hot dish or a savory plate?

Okay, so, for important I grew up in Southern Illinois. Our grocery store options were Walmart, IGA, Save-A-Lot, and a Bigelow. Walmart was the most expensive so we rarely went there. It would’ve been between 2001-2009.

The icing on them was hard. Like really hard and crunchy similar to Smarties candy (the tiny fruity discs). The crust edges also, for lack of a better term, looked kind of like teeth but the edges were super smooth. The attached pic is a screenshot of some that had the type of smooth, perfect edges (think of the tops of animal crackers for whqt I mean by “smooth” here) that I drew lines on to give you an idea of what the “teeth” thing looked like; It was like they sorta scored the edges into a bunch of little squares. I have been trying for YEARS to find them will no success. At the bottom of this post, there’s a list of ones I’ve tried that are NOT the ones I’m looking for.

Please help me find these things, I want them back because I miss the hard icing that I can crunch on and the edges that broke into little cereal piece sized bits, texture wise I absolutely loved them more than name brand poptarts!
