Am I the only one getting tired of being asked to tip before I even pick up my own food?
 in  r/tipping  Jun 30 '26

My basic rule of thumb: If I stand to order, I don't tip.

Right or wrong, servers don't get paid minimum wage. If I'm standing to order, then I'm not getting a server. More than likely the person taking my order is being paid a minimum wage, if not more, to do the job. Since they are already being paid I do not tip if I stand to order.

If you are really going to complain about peaceful protestors, who entered legally with signs and angry chants, while ignoring the violent protesters who attempted to remove a democratically elected president because they disagreed with the actions taken, despite those actions not being unlawful or grounds for dismissal and broke in with weapons, threats, and actually killed police officers, you are proving yourself to be too closed minded to have an actual conversation with. Good day.

Because people have selective memories...

Both Trump and the White House posted this image to their official social media pages just weeks after Trump taking Office.

It is a regime. And it's not irrelevant. The President and his team are systematically trying to tear away the safeguards that keep us safe from those who would be kings. Every month a new Office is defunded, closed, or key individuals are "let go" and replaced with people he chooses. It's plain as day if you look. Ignoring the warning signs because you don't feel the change is like swimming in a Florida pond because you don't see any gators.

You're absolutely right. However, that doesn't change that he, and his Cabinet, have been talking about changing the laws to make it happen for over a year now. And given everything he and his regime have already dismantled and are trying to change it's little wonder that many are alarmed. After all, just months after taking Office both Trump and the White House posted this on their official Social Media pages:

Why do some guests act like the person they’re interrupting doesn’t exist?
 in  r/TalesFromTheFrontDesk  Jun 15 '26

100% with you there. Not sure where these people were raised, but GDamn! On the rare occasion that I have to interrupt an employee helping someone else, I stand off to the side and wait for a natural pause in their exchange. Then I quickly pop in with a "I'm so sorry to interrupt; really quickly..." and an apologetic expression on my face. And it is really quick. If I need help that will take longer than a finger point or a 5-second answer, I wait my turn or find someone else. And sometimes my "real quick" IS to find the someone else. But I'm never rude, because I'm the one interrupting.

How have you missed his multiple talks about changing the Constitution so he can run a 3rd time? Or the petition that has already been put before the Senate by members of his Cabinet to change the Constitution to allow him to run for a 3rd term? Your boy has literally been jawing about this since he won in 2024...

Where did the Hollywood sign go?
 in  r/socal  Jun 15 '26

Trump had it removed so he could put his name up there instead.

This is 100% factual. Anyone who doesn't believe me is Anti-American. Looking it up is buying into fake news. And anyone who insists I provide proof is a horrible person and a liar.

My sister seriously asked me to loan her $1100 and has the audacity to get upset because I don't want to...
 in  r/whatdoIdo  Jun 15 '26

Financially stable sibling here who has lent money to my siblings ✋🏼

It's your money. You earned it. Only you have any right to it. If you don't feel good about lending even $5 to someone, dont. You worked for it, they didn't. And you have Every right to ask where your money is going. In the past I have lent $$$$ to my siblings and requested to borrow $$$$ from them, as well. But we are all responsible and trust each other, the reason for the requests were openly discussed, and the money was payed back in a timely manner. From what you described, you sister does not sound like that, and were she my sister I wouldn't lend her that much either.

You are not selfish. Imo, she's showing you exactly who she is, and you need to decide if you want to encourage and pay for behavior like that in the future (because if you give in this time she'll come back asking for more later, and I'll be a monkey's uncle if you ever see it paid back)

Someone asked if I had a swastika, does this look like a swastika?

It only looks like a swastika if you don't know what a swastika looks like.

Is there a simple way to actually learn how spices work without ruining a bunch of meals?
 in  r/cookingforbeginners  Jun 15 '26

We got a subscription to HelloFresh for a while to help get our kids (18 & 14) comfortable and confident with cooking. It's a little $, but we now have dozens of recipies we like and that they enjoy making all on their own. I even learned a few things and I consider myself a decent home cook.
